The Mothman is complete! Approx 4x6 ft, tapestry crochet. Just need to weave in some ends and block him, and maybe add some fringe(?) but the infinite color changes are finally over

A bit of a mega-bummer update on my ugly Christmas sweater: I finished it, and it's too small. I was hoping it would stretch to size once I got it finished but no such luck. Carrying the yarn inside my stitches instead of on the wrong side of the fabric has come back to bite me, I think. I did it because I hate the feeling of loose strings on the wrong side of my projects, which is fine for blankets and things, but when it needs to be able to stretch like this I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up. Honestly, though, I'm pretty glad I didn't get this done in time for Christmas 2024 in retrospect, because if I'd have made it in the nick of time only to discover it didn't fit, it would have been so much more devastating than making that same discovery in February.

I debated how to proceed from here; I could add some side panels to make it big enough, but after putting in so much effort to make it look nice, and especially with full colorwork on the back and sleeves, I know I would hate to do something that would make it look tacky. So I'm frogging it all and remaking it with a larger hook. That gives me the opportunity to do the colorwork properly too, which I think will also help the front image not look so stretched out. It sucks to undo so many hours of work but again, that will let me make a finished project that I'm much more proud of. So enjoy these pictures of version one all in one piece, and keep an eye out for the remaking process.
