Maybe I need a reality check and maybe I'm being unreasonable and maybe it's a "generational thing" but why the fuck does it genuinely piss me off when a fifty-something guy at work wants to dictate how I do things I'm in charge of? Like, in this instance: he works for me...?!
I'm open to feedback and actually considered his points and met him more than halfway and shit. Came up with a good compromise but he wants it to go 100% his way?
And then he's like "but that's all I'm gonna say on this topic for now 🙂"
Girl, the audacity he has. No idea if it's because he's a man, or has more experience (which I appreciate and rely on often enough - I'm very grateful for it), or because I'm a young woman, but this man started working at my company not even a year ago, whereas when I started we didn't have anything at all Marketing wise or website wise or social media wise and shit and I was on charge of building it up all on my own.
Am I being unreasonable? Genuinely asking, maybe I need a reality check.
Maybe it's because I'm working in a heavily male-led industry and had a lot of instances where I wasn't taken seriously or underestimated and shit and worked thrice as hard to be heard until I had enough respect to be in charge of a few things and have the last word when it comes to anything digital (Website, our customer portal, social media, the whole marketing part of our CRM (customer relationship management) software and all that jazz and then this man comes in?
Idk maybe I'm being petty rn. He sometimes says stuff like "mhm, yeah. Maybe, I'll think about it," when I say what we're gonna do and talk about the stuff as a TEAM (keyword: together as a TEAM, I rely on my team and their feedback) but he says it like: "yeah I'm gonna think about whether we're gonna do [task that needs to be done] at all."
and the thing is: I generally really like the guy? He's fun and he's nice.
sorry about rambling about boring work stuff, just needed to vent for a moment. I like my job and I'm passionate about it and proud of the stuff I accomplished and everything I learned along the way, so think this is why it just gets under my skin
