The United States and Spain have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cybersecurity cooperation during the second U.S.-Spain Cyber and Digital Dialogue held on June 6, 2024, in Washington, D.C. This dialogue marks a significant step in fostering bilateral relations and addressing global cyber challenges.

This involves adhering to international law, promoting established norms, and implementing practical confidence-building measures. - Enhancing Global Cyber Resilience: Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to digital solidarity, aiming to boost global cyber resilience. This includes supporting partners, particularly in the Western Hemisphere, and enhancing cyber capacity building.   Addressing Cybersecurity Challenges The dialogue also focused on addressing pressing cybersecurity challenges: - Protection of Critical Infrastructure: Both countries discussed strategies to safeguard critical infrastructure against cyber threats. This includes emerging technologies and combating cybercrime. - Strengthening the ICT Ecosystem: U.S. and Spanish officials exchanged views on bolstering the security of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) ecosystem. This initiative aims to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ensuring AI systems are developed and deployed responsibly.

The dialogue was opened by Ambassador-at-Large Nathaniel Fick and chaired by Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Cyberspace Security Liesyl Franz and Ambassador Steve Lang. The U.S. delegation included representatives from various agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
