what’s so funny to me is that it seems like literally everything in Aeor terrifies Essek, but he has gone there several times with Caleb for research (aka wizard fun). They would have gone again if not for the Cerberus Assembly becoming too much of a presence there. Aeor is their established date spot.

He was basically doing the thing where you go to a scary movie or a haunted house with your crush so you have an excuse to hold hands lol

Forever sad that Planerider Ryn has pretty much been forgotten by campaign 3. She was so cool! So badass! One of the formost magical researchers on Exandria! And one of the exact things this plot needed: a powerful new ally unique to campaign 3, but with threads tying her back to the wider world.

She deserved to stand in the convocation in Vasselheim beside Allura Vysoren and speak for the Arcana Pansophical. She deserved to help plan this moon assault. She should have been there, casting Plane Shift an absurd number times to help move people around. She's an expert on leylines, for crying out loud! She deserved to be important.

She didn't deserve to get turned into a statue and then forgotten in the chaos :(

i think sacred music in the kryn dynasty would be very cyclical and repetitive in form to symbolize the idea that life is a continuous thing (at least those who are consecuted right right) and is a cycle across lifetimes and yeah

This is sort of an addition to My previous post but only sort of, because this is more of a commentary. I see a lot of posts saying something along the lines of “Ashton better not mention Essek to the bright queen”. While I get where it’s coming from, I Myself am not at all worried. Don’t forget Ashton himself is a criminal. He knows not to name drop people. He has the charisma of an actual earth elemental yes, but he doesn’t violate that code.

But what I'm actually making this post about is that Ashton might be what helps Essek get into a favourable situation with the Kryn Dynasty. Ashton who could Potentially be a bright spot for the Dynasty. (Potentially) A Champion, vessel and Gift from the Luxon. Ashton was created after a potion of possibility Was poured into his open skull. The potions of possibility's where created by Yeza that are derived from a beacon. The beacon Essek stole. So without Essek stealing that beacon, Ashton would have never come to be.

Or perhaps they’ll just be like ‘This is just luck. Literally the only good thing. And it wasn’t even you who did it, it was Milo and Ashton holding onto the bottle.’ I mean it probably won’t help much, but there’s always a possibility.

So before the finale happened and we got a conclusive ending I had this idea of how I wanted Caleb and Essek's epilogue to go-- and instead of Caleb going back to work at Soltryce, he created his own academy for wizards. And then when he died, Essek could take over as the headmaster (maybe in disguise, but with an established identity).

Absolutely OBSESSED with the progression of cataloguing in Critical Role, like:

Campaign 1: the Slayer's Take, religious institutions containing dangerous threats that must be hidden away. utilitarian, standard fantasy fare.

Campaign 2: the Cobalt Soul, extensive global networks of knowledge collection, collation, and dissemination. commentary on the importance of knowledge keepers and its relationship to corruption.

Campaign 3: the absolute most BUCKWILD personal collections you've ever seen in your life. hoarder territory. if there's a cataloguing system it is HIGHLY specific to its creator. what is real and and what is fake. opens up to metanarrative commentary on organization of knowledge and archival that I WILL be writing a dissertation on in five years, research funding be fucking damned.

Smiling that there are Strings Quartet versions of 2 Scanlan songs. Reminds me of how I loved listening to Strings Quartet versions of 2 anime songs from Inuyasha and Ouran High School Host Club.
