[Portrait] @rerostudio was born in France in 1983. Rero’s life as an artist began in the street, as he searched for abandoned places where he could leave his mark. The outdoors then gave way to the indoors, and he has enriched his mode of expression with various different mediums. A multi-disciplinary artist, Rero started to question codes governing intellectual property, images and computer language, denouncing them by scoring them out with a thick black line. More recently and always with a humorous touch, Rero draws our attention to imminent changes in society, changes we can take control of by means of alternative paths. He wants to highlight the limits of an ageing system that ossifies our reality as well as our ideals. Rero has been putting his texts and works all over the world, from landscapes to buildings and galleries’ spaces, from Los Angeles, New York, Miami (with the complicity of @castaniergallery) to Bogota at the @macbogota or Rio de Janeiro where he lives, from Marrakech to Essaouira with @montressoartfoundation, in Singapore and Istanbul, and all over Europe of course, in Berlin, Brussels or Roma and many places in France, including @centrepompidou @macval.musee @bonmarche @grandcordelmjc Carré de Baudouin thanks to @eliseherszkowicz @galerieparisbeijing @maifsocialclub thanks to @annesophieberard @hangar_107 thanks to @nicolascouturieux @laconditionpublique @institutbernardmagrez @iacvilleurbanne etc. We began altogether and presented 5 solo exhibitions at the gallery, every one a great success, 3 monographs and uncountable projects together !!
