Strangely enough - my fav dynamic (in bitw) so far is the one between Maeve and Criston?? 😭😭 my followers/readers of color will get this but you know when you walk in a room full of white people then spot the one other person of color. Like you don’t even have to know them or speak to them… but you share the Look™️. Lmao thats them

#bc yes - their race does play a part in this #like when you think about it… they are similar #criston being half dornish does play a part in his life #what that means for his life protecting yes Alicent but by extensions Targaryens #and with Maeve - yes she is technically just Valyrian #being both velaryon and targaryen #but I don’t like the idea of velaryons being black having nothing to do with how they feel about Lucerys #are vaemond’s reasons for contesting always altruistic? no #and you can surely side him (and Alayne) for marrying their daughter off knowing what could happen #but is it selfish for a black man to want the head of his house to stay black? nope!#they are both (Maeve and criston) essentially in roles of servitude as a Kingsguard and wife #it does not take away for the love they may feel but it does play a part in hardships in their life
