Hazel is sitting in a tree lurking about the area. There's bits of blood leaking down her arm and to the ground below her.

Out of seemingly nowhere a sharp blade cut through the grassbelow leaving trails of ice behind it. Soon after a man followed after it,calling it too his hand. Seemed he needed a bit more practice controlling hisupgraded blade before he was ready for battle.

Renji is shocked as a flying body suddenly leaps out at him, hand on his sword to defend. When he finds out it’s just Hazel, he relaxes and smiles.

“Hey Hazel, how’s it been?”

The spirit is sitting in her panther cub form just casually watching a bird sit at the top of a nearby street lamp. Shes not even paying attention to things around her due to how focused she is on the bird.

That

was an actual real-fucking-life panther.

Her plate-sized eye’s narrowed lamely moments later. She assured herself that, though it was real, it was a spirit. Dangerous all the same, but she never thought animals lingered the same as human spirits did. Ever a curious creature, she yearned to investigate, but she was cautious to if it was in a hunting mindset, which she assumed if it was so focused on the bird.

Her legs and her brain didn’t always share agendas, however. She scaled the street lamp and groaned. The things she did for science.

“Hey, kittykittykitty, don’t eat meee,” she sang, and though nervous her tone hadn’t let that on. It would suck if the creature clawed her hands into ribbon because she’d gone and spooked it.

“Hazel, where are my shoes?”

“Yes, that is how people show affection...I suppose I just was not expecting you to show such affection to me.”

"That sounds dumb... and confusing." She squints at Renji. It was dumb more so because it sounded complicated. So many things happening at once to you. "Do you have to feel all of those things when you love someone? all at the same time?"

Renji blinked from all the questions being asked but laughed at her initial reaction - she wasn’t too far off. Love most of the time indeed was dumb and confusing.

“No, ya don’t have to feel ALL of ‘em but they’re just some things that ya feel. Usually they start happenin’ one by one without ya even realizing you’re in love! It’s just a strong feeling of wanting ta be together with someone ya really like.”

"Romantic Love? What's that feel like? What do you mean by lover?" She's gonna just casually tilt her head to the side.

Ahh.. how was Renji going to explain something like love?

He hummed, deep in thought.

“Love.. is well it’s a feeling ya have when ya wanna be with someone always. Ya always think about them when yer not with them, and when yer with them, yer heart beats faster and ya feel very nervous for no reason. But their presence gives you comfort. You feel happy when ya spend time with them, and ya find yourself thinking that they are cute and beautiful and precious. It’s a very happy feeling..” Renji smiles as he explains.
