my opinion on;

character in general:  

Milli: I like Milli. Yes, “son of two canon characters,” but extremely interesting. Let’s get one thing clear: Mortal Kombat is a game about tropes. Every single character is the extreme embodiment of one trope or another, and Milli is no different. In fact, “Milli is no different” applies in so many ways that I do feel that Milli could easily be a Mortal Kombat character. In the Alt along with Kombat Kids (not to offend anyone by mentioning the alt) would be interesting; a forgotten remnant of Mileena’s reign …

Kintaro: Kintaro  is the sub-boss of MKII, how can you not love him? Granted, Kintaro hasn’t ever really had much character development but he doesn’t need it. I always thought he looked way cooler than Goro, and because he was a tiger he has had bonus points in my book since I was, like, 5, or whenever I first played MK II.

Darrius: Hi, I am Cat and I RP as Hotaru. Darrius is arguably one of the 5 least popular characters in the entire MK series, but I firmly believe that the only reason is because of how poorly Deception was received: that is because there were so many new characters instead of the same exact characters that had been in every single MK game for the decade prior, and because they were linked to new concepts. I think we got really lucky this time around that (at least from what I can tell regarding the non-tumblr fanbase) MKX was able to have a large number of new characters that weren’t instantly hated for being new. I love Darrius. I love the depth he gives to Orderrealm ranging from the resistance to his design itself and the implications regarding Seido’s technology. I love the fact that Orderrealm was introduced with so much depth. I just wish he had been linked to the overall and old school plot a little better: his motives, story and mission are completely within Seido. That, I think, is what stopped the Seidan characters from being appreciated: with the exception of the arguably half-assed connection Hotaru had to Onaga, and also Lei Chen (which was a much stronger tie and should have been featured, but was slightly complicated I guess), the Orderrealm story was quite self-contained. Darrius and Dairou added depth to it, and added depth to Hotaru, but weren’t actually involved in the game’s story. There were so many ways they could have been but Deception has a kind of rushed element to it; as a game it feels unfinished.

Sorry that was a tangent. Darrius himself: I love him, he’s matrix-y, high tech, cool, super-charming, and deceptively ‘revolutionary.’ We know absolutely nothing about his motives except for a revolution. We don’t know what he wants to replace it with. And, whether or not Darrius had Dairou’s family murdered in particular, he’s done it in the past and if he’s willing to kill innocent people (presumably including children) in order to trick people to join his cause, well … but we don’t know much about the Senate, either – I love how gray everything is there. I’m sad we’ll probably never see him again, and if we do it’ll just be to see his head get lopped off. 

But goddamn you play him so well and so naturally and goddamn I get hype that you RP him. Darrius, guys. Darrius. The overall fandom might not like him but he is just great fanwork/RP fodder because of the reasons mentioned before, and your rationality – ok read below

how they play them: You play all of your characters very differently, but there is a common feeling when reading them: intelligence. You have the perfect blend of physical/event description/furthering plot, and introspection. I find myself agreeing with their rationale even if I shouldn’t be. But all three characters have very different rationales, and your introspection makes that very clear. 

I’ll reiterate that I really really enjoy and appreciate that you are not afraid to further the plot and action in threads. A lot of people are really hesitant to do that, but your RPing is proactive, and so it never feels like it’s dragging or stalling or floundering, and the adventure never feels one-sided.

 the mun:  I don’t know why I’m your senpai, u r my senpai. I love talking to you, it’s nice to have someone who was also a part of the fandom back in the 90s and early/mid 2000s and remembers all the fandom reactions/first impressions/how we remembered the games back when we were but strapping youths —– Also especially heartening when I first joined the MK RP Kommunity to have someone who knew exactly who Hotaru was and knew exactly what I was talking about when I would mention MKD Konquest mode.  Also you and I are just level, and I enjoy talking to you about irl things – just having conversation.

There was just something about the way Kintaro spoke that caused the Kytinn to wish to shrink, feeling like she was a mere youngling once more. Black eyes did not look towards the Tigrar Shokan, her mouth opening, but no voice leaving it, not even an insectoid sound left her.  She felt bad that the other was practically looking out for her when she could protect herself. Not that she minded.

I kissed my mate, on the cheek, and he did seem happy. But something in him, with his rule of being the Kahn of Outworld, and I his soon to be Empress, it has created a toll between our relationship.

 I feel as though things are missing, but I am doing my best to repair the spark. If only we can get that time to relax, but I believe that would strengthen our relationship. This diary must tire of listening to me rattle on about my life 

Now, I know I shouldn’t be like this, but I worry for him. I fear for his health.

June 17, 2006. Rain was always my memory of home. The way it pounded relentlessly against my window, hearing my mother playing against the piano keys down the stairs.

Now, that is a distant memory, and I spend it with the Tarkatan known as Millikan. I created a strange force-field of fire around us both so the rain hisses before it could come down on us. It took me two years to get this right, but I managed to get it; even being in use while I am unconscious.

Millikan is an interesting person, not at all like the bloodthirsty Tarkatans I had encountered with my brother. He’s different, more focused on saving family then fending for himself. Noble, actually. He was even willing to help me find a sage who is an expert at tracking down sorcerers. I didn’t tell Mill my issues. He is but a stranger. But he is open; gave me reasons. I have been closing off. That was just me.

I could trust him, but at what cost? Betrayal, sure. I have dealt with it. Death? Parents. 

He sleeps beside me, snoring loudly, keeping me up, and it makes me smile. Maybe with time, I could trust this man. He may be a fellow ally in time.

I must stop writing, for I feel tired.
