“Umm... Hey, Bruce? I have a question, but you gotta promise not to be mad.”
Bruce looked at the young boy beside him. Jason had only been working as a hero for a few months, but he was a kind boy, with boundless determination and optimism. Bruce couldn’t be prouder.
“Of course chum. There’s nothing wrong with asking questions, as long as you remember to be kind and not keep pressing if told no”
“Oh, ok. Well, um... I was wondering. Why don’t we kill the bad guys? Cause, we beat them up, and we stop them, and we send them to Arkham, but then they get out. Wouldn’t be better to kill them so they can’t hurt people anymore?”
Ah. This question. A difficult topic. Bruce still remembered how long it took to show dick that here were always better options than killing. That boy... He had been so full of pain, and anger. Bruce wished he could have helped him more.
“Well chum, that’s a bit of a complicated question. To me it goes back to two things. The first one I’ve already told you. The night my parents died was the worst night of my life, and on that day I swore to never put anyone else through that same pain. The second goes back even further. You see, my father was a surgeon. He worked tirelessly to save people. Sometimes he would spend days on end in the hospital, working tirelessly to save a single patient. There’s one night that will always stay with me. He had just come home from a particularly challenging case. It had reached a point where the patient’s heart had stopped, and her blood had to be pumped manually using a complex machine. There were two options. The machine could be set to automatic, where it would have a 12.8% chance of success. Or, it could be worked manually, where that chance went up to 13.1%. My father spent 18 hours sitting in that same spot, pumping the machine once or twice every second. The patient didn’t make it. When he finally got home he had a look of utter despair on his face. I asked him ‘why papa? why did you work so hard for so little?’ he sat me down and he explained something to me, something that I still remember to this day. He said to me ‘Bruce, my boy, I must tell you something of grave importance. You see, there is nothing on this earth worth more than a human life. There is no amount of labor that is too much for even the chance to save a life. It doesn’t matter how hard you have to work yourself; you can never give up on a life. It is our duty, as those born with power, to save as many people as we can with that power, no matter how slim the chances. That is my greatest code, my boy.’
“You see Jason, even if the criminals escape, we can still stop them from hurting people. It may take much more time and effort on our part, and it may be easier to simply kill them and be done with it, but my father taught me, you never take the easy way out when lives are at stake”.
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
Jason woke up in a cold sweat. No. That had to be a dream. That conversation never happened; he’d have remembered it. Except... The pit. When he came back, the pit healed his mind, but not all the way. He still lost little things and- oh. All this time. That’s why. All this time. That’s why Bruce wouldn’t kill, there was a reason, this whole time! Oh, that noble idiot. That’s what me meant when he said it was too easy, he was still putting it upon himself to save everyone. Hmm. He might owe his dad a bit of an apology.

The World of iOS and How it Develops Today
Since the last 70 years or so, mankind has seen a significant leap in the field of technology. It was in 1946 that the ENIAC (the first supercomputer) opened its eyes into this world) and by 1970 we already had a Personal Computer – a desktop PC as we know it today, available. The coming years saw the advent of mainframe and mini computers. Though the Internet has made its presence felt as early as 1969 at DARPA, it became a household name only when Windows 95 came into being. That is when a new technology came into being parallel – the Mobile (somewhere towards the end of the 20th century).
It was the turn of this technology now to occupy the brain and mind of us humans. The mobiles within just two decades have progressed from just a telephone to almost being a palmtop computer. The content that I am typing now may as well be provided as an input to some application which can read it for you, in a voice you prefer.
It was the Symbian mobiles in the beginning, but with Android as an option, the masses forgot the operating system soon that had brought new technology to this world. With Google at its back, Android powered devices took over the world as anything and people loved it. As the users demanded more and more from the hand-held sets, it was the Apple powered devices that proved a threat to the Android. According to a survey Android alone accounts for 51.1 % of the market share but iOS users are loyal to it more than perhaps the Android users and that is the reason why iOS is seeing an increase in its market share since 2017. Today there are a lot of iOS App development companies in India, US, UK and elsewhere that are loyal to this OS. Although, other mobiles are also having their followers who are loyal to them the iOS app development companies in India are flourishing as they are well supported by the elite of the Indian high class. Let’s see what’s new about iOS in the market as of now:
1.
Apple could launch 16-inch MacBook, new iPad Pro this month: Apple is scheduled to host this month's launch event where new MacBooks and iPads are expected. Apple has scheduled a number of products that it plans to introduce to the user during its October 2019 event. These comprise of a 16-inch MacBook Pro with a scissor keyboard, refreshed iPad Pro model along with Apple Tags items trackers. The company hosted an event on October 30, 2018 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York City, and is expected to host the event again this year around the same time. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is rumored to be the same physical size as the 15-inch MacBook Pro, but for a larger display it will feature smaller bezel sizes. While the existing11-inch and12.9-inch iPad Pro models debuted in October 2018, these high-end tablets could be upgraded this time by the manufacturer. Also, Apple can release its item tracker similar to ' Apple Tag ' famous tile items. It's a tiny device attached to items to make them easy to find, it's combined with elements of augmented reality to help users find their lost items easily.
2.
iOS 13.1.3 is the latest software update from Apple to fix iPhone and iPad bugs: With new bug fixes and performance improvements, Apple is releasing iOS 13.1.3 to the public today. The update, in addition to iPadOS 13.1.3, is now rolling out to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users. Apple says the Mail app's update address issues for Bluetooth connectivity, and more. A summary of what has changed in iOS 13.1.3 follows. iOS 13.1.3 contains bug fixes and iPhone enhancements. The update
fixes an issue that might prevent an incoming call from ringing or vibrating phone.
Helps fix a problem that may prevent the opening of an invitation to a meeting in Mail
Solves a problem in which data in the Health app may not show correctly after adjustment of daylight savings
Solves a problem where Voice Memos recordings may not be downloaded after restore iCloud Backup
Addresses a problem where apps may not be updated during iCloud Backup
Fixes a problem that can stop Apple Watch from successfully pairing
Resolves a problem where alerts may not be received on Apple Watch
Fixes a problem where Bluetooth may disconnect on certain vehicles
Improves the reliability of Bluetooth hearing aids and headsets
Addresses release output for applications using Game Center
Recently, Apple released new versions of iOS 13 at a rapid pace. Apple released iOS 13.1.1 last month and just two days later followed up with iOS 13.1.2. The updates focused on improving reliability and addressing bugs for items like the Camera app, iCloud backups, and more. Finally, one would agree that the users can expect general performance improvements, squashed bugs, and more thanks to iOS 13.1.3. Apple is also currently involved in testing a beta version of iOS 13.2 with its new Deep Fusion camera technology .
3.
iPhone users complaining about iOS 13.1.2 issues: The reportedly rushed release of the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system has posed major problems. Apple support forums and Twitter account contain hundreds of iPhone user complaints about both making and receiving calls. Although the update was intended to bring a range of new features to type, including dark mode and swipe, a number of disruptive bugs have also apparently been introduced. One of the most frustrating is the inability to make calls, though users usually complain about battery drain and overheating.
One of the iPhone users complained about the company’s support forum: "After updating, the telephone is heating, batte ry draining, the worst incoming calls don't sound. What's the worth of a ' mobile ' if it doesn't sound like it?". Reports suggest that after a number of critical security issues that have arisen recently, Apple has been forced to rush the release of the new iOS version. A vulnerability found by the clandestine and prestigious group of security researchers known as Project Zero was among the most troubling.Apple had said at that time that it will not announce, discuss or confirm security issues for the safety of their customers until an investigation had taken place and updates or changes have been made generally available.
The transition to iOS 13.1 is intended to fix many of these vulnerabilities, and the security risks that a known code bug that presents to users once a patch is available is so severe that it is never considered reasonable to postpone upgrading. But the downside of widely reported vulnerabilities may prevent users from downloading the update, leaving hackers and cyber criminals at risk. Apple quickly pushed out another update to resolve the new bugs and patch those in the previous release of iOS version 13.1.1, but this rush seemed to introduce more bugs again.
The process seems to have been replicated with iOS 13.1.2, with users complaining about calls, Face ID, Mail, Messages, and battery leakage problems. How fast these issues will be addressed is not clear. Apple was unable to respond to a request for comment immediately.
4.
Apple slams Google for raising the false alarm on iOS security: Apple has blamed Google for making a false perception that its iPhones are at risk due to security bugs that allegedly penetrate many malicious websites into its iOS operating system. Researchers working in Google's Project Zero team had discovered multiple hacked websites that used iPhone security flaws to attack users who visited these websites, exposing their personal files, emails, and location data in real time. The websites distributed their malware indiscriminately and have been active for years, according to Google. "All evidence indicates that these website attacks were only operational for a brief period, about two months, not ' two years ' as Google implies," according to the iPhone maker. Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG) found that there was no target bias because visiting the compromised site was enough for the exploit server to attack the iPhone and mount a monitoring implant if it was successful. "We predict that thousands of visitors per week are visiting these pages," the Google blog post said.
Google researchers also said they found a vulnerability that used end-to-end authentication applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram and iMessage to access all the server files on the victim's iPhone.
Apple said it patched the bugs in February working extremely fast to solve the problem just 10 days after hearing about it.
When Google came to us, we were already addressing the exploited bugs," the company said, adding that its software security teams around the world were continually iterating to introduce new defenses and vulnerabilities for updates as soon as they are discovered.

Darkness
1 John 2.9-11
A man may say, 'I am in the light'; but if he hates his brother, he is still in the dark. Only the man who loves his brother dwells in the light: there is nothing to make him stumble. But one who hates his brother is in the dark and has no idea where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind.
Wow. Did you catch that last verse: 'But one who hates his brother is in the dark and has no idea where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind.' Think about that for a moment.
There is much darkness in the world today; it's all around us. But this passage is talking about people who call themselves Christians, yet do not obey their Lord. Jesus clearly said that those who love Him will keep His commandments.
'If you love Me, you will obey My commandments.' —John 14.15 (NEB)
'The man who has received My commands and obeys them—he it is who loves Me.' —John 14.21 (NEB)
'If you heed My commands, you will dwell in My love.' —John 15.10 (NEB)
And the principle commandments He gave us were these:
Jesus answered, 'The first is, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is the only Lord; love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." The second is this: "Love your neighbor as yourself." There is no other commandment greater than these.'
Jesus placed great emphasis on the condition of the heart. He equated lust with adultery and hatred with murder, clearly indicating that our inner thoughts and attitudes are every bit as important as our outward behavior and that words have meaning.
'Anyone who nurses anger against his brother must be brought to judgment. If he abuses his brother he must answer for it to the court; if he sneers at him he will have to answer for it in the fires of hell.' —Matthew 5.22 (NEB)
And He warned about playing religion and mistaking it for light.
'See to it that the light you have is not darkness.' —Luke 11.35 (NEB)
'If then the only light you have is darkness, the darkness is doubly dark.' —Matthew 6.23 (NEB)
Unfortunately, many 'progressive' denominations today are preaching hatred and intolerance, rather than love; and many so-called Christians are joining the enemies of God in their call to oppose Christian principles and adopt the attitudes of our decadent society, and to rebel against all authority under the excuse that it is unjust.
But what is God's attitude toward these teachings and this behavior?
Every person must submit to the supreme authority. There is no authority but by act of God, and the existing authorities are instituted by Him; consequently anyone who rebels against authority is resisting a divine institution, and those who so resist have themselves to thank for the punishment they will receive… It is not for nothing that they hold the power of the sword, for they are God's agents of punishment, for retribution on the offender. —Romans 13.1-2, 4 (NEB)
Submit yourselves to every human institution for the sake of the Lord, whether to the sovereign as supreme, or to the governor as his deputy for the punishment of criminals and the commendation of those who do right. —1 Peter 2.13-14 (NEB)
Through the prophet Isaiah, God warns a rebellious Israel that He will remove their mighty men, judges, and elders and, instead, will raise up vain young men to rule over them.
Then I will appoint mere boys to be their captains, who shall govern as the fancy takes them; the people shall deal harshly, each man with his fellow and with his neighbor; children shall break out against their elders, and nobodies against men of substance. —Isaiah 3.4-5 (NEB)
Does this sound like American society today? American churches that preach 'social gospel'?
That is not to say that monarchs and presidents are inerrant, but that God places in authority over us those whom we deserve and that rebellion against that authority is the same as rebellion against Him.
With this in mind, why would any clergyman or religious leader advocate rebellion against authority? The answer is obvious: Because their hatred has caused them to dwell in darkness and they have no idea where they are going, because the darkness has made them blind.
_________________________________________________________
If anything in these teachings has touched your heart and opened your mind to the realization that you need a Savior, pray this prayer to accept Jesus the Messiah as Lord of your life:
Father God, I know I am a sinner in need of a Savior and that I cannot save myself. I repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is Your Son, that He died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life, and that He rose from the dead. I accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord of my life, and I freely give my life to Him. I pray this in Jesus' Name. Amen.
If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. —Romans 10.9-10 (NIV)

What $100 can buy you in jail might surprise you
(CNN)The headline read: Upgrade your jail cell — for a price.
And it wasn’t The Onion. The Los Angeles Times story describes prisoners who have been given the option by the courts and prosecutors of paying extra for jail accommodations at upgraded facilities.
The story also details some of what the inmates get in return for $100 a night: flat screen TVs, a computer and media room, and new beds. As recently as 2013, the city of Seal Beach took out an ad in a local weekly paper touting the amenities that come with its pay-to-stay program.
The program is offered to all citizens who have been sentenced by the court and are allowed to serve their time in a city jail.
California allows people to serve their county jail sentences in city jails, and this perk is supposed to be reserved for misdemeanor crimes that were committed in the same county as the pay-to-stay facility. According to the Times story, however, judges sometimes allow felons and out-of-county offenders to take advantage of the program too. Relaxing the eligibility rules like this makes economic sense: technical disqualifications shouldn’t stand in the way of a potential customer ready, willing, and able to pay for his accommodations, right?
Among the current participants in the program, according to the Times: a man convicted of sexual battery against a woman he met on Match.com, and another who pleaded guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter after he crashed his Ferrari at age 18, killing his own cousin, a passenger.
Let’s face it: the carefully-selected samples of the population at pay-to-stay facilities included in the Times article are not likely to engender a great deal of sympathy with the public. Another upgraded inmate pleaded no contest to sex with a minor. A former police officer who pleaded guilty to stalking and harassing his ex paid $32,000 for 272 days and was able to leave most days to work as a security guard and teach fitness classes.
It may seem unfair that a convicted criminal can leave jail to go to work, but this is a perk that benefits society as much as it does the inmate. Maintaining employment is a critical factor in avoiding recidivism. Turning a gainfully-employed defendant into an unemployed, desperate felon is a recipe for disaster. That’s why we’ve long had work-release programs, and weekends-only sentencing options for certain crimes.
These pay-to-stay programs may be extreme examples, but disparities in the conditions that rich and poor defendants face are nothing new.
Should the criminal justice system place a higher value on the lives of wealthy defendants than those of poor defendants? No, of course not. Should defendants who are financially able to shoulder some of the burden on the system at least have the option to do so? Yes, of course. Giving defendants the option to literally pay their debt to society might even achieve more of the traditional goals of punishment, at a fraction of the cost to you and me.
Take DUI and traffic offenses as another example. If you walk into any criminal courthouse, it’s likely that its most economically diverse courtroom will be the DUI courtroom or traffic court. You’ll see doctors, teachers, priests and CEOs.
It’s no coincidence that so many states have a pricey first-time offender program for DUI cases: pay an expensive fine, attend an expensive traffic class, undergo expensive drug evaluation, and you can often get the charges dropped and your record expunged. Courts and prosecutors figured out long ago that DUI defendants tend to have money, and — despite all those TV ads warning of the perils of DUI — these defendants can often pay their way out of a first conviction.
It should come as no surprise, then, that the most common crimes among the pay-to-stay population are not assaults or sex crimes (4.5% combined). Nor are they illegal drug possession or sales (1.5% combined). It’s overwhelmingly made up of driving violations (13.1%) and DUIs (66.2%).
Here’s what may surprise you: pay-to-stay programs provide a net benefit to society.
You could conclude that this system values rich defendants more than poor defendants. That’s one way of looking at it. And it’s probably accurate. But another important dimension is that it also motivates convicted criminals to shift financial responsibility for their own incarceration away from taxpayers. Arguably, indigent prisoners burden society twice: first with their crimes, and additionally by forcing society to pay for their housing, health care, and security while incarcerated. Prisoners who can afford a nicer jail can offset their burden to society at their own expense.
Instead of debating whether well-heeled defendants should be allowed to buy a better prison experience, we should be asking why we put so much faith in imprisonment in the first place. Many academics argue that mass incarceration is a failed experiment in the United States, and that there’s little evidence that long or harsh prison terms achieve our objectives.

The traditional goals of criminal punishment are retribution, deterrence, incapacitation and rehabilitation. Incarceration satisfies only one: incapacitation, and it costs the state a lot of money. Reasonable minds still disagree about whether incarceration serves as any real deterrent. When you think about it, it’s strange that we so long ago decided that forcing convicts to sit in a state-funded concrete room for several years is the best way for criminals to pay their debt to society.
As for the pay-to-stay accommodations in places like Seal Beach, the system will continue to have its harsh and vocal critics — until the teenage son of one of those critics has a drunk driving accident. Then it’s time to drain the retirement fund to get their precious little boy out of LA County Jail and into Seal Beach.
