This may seem like an exaggeration, the idea that one can learn how to properly think like a criminal by learning how crime stories work. On a personal note, let me tell a story from the Leverage writer’s room.

Apollo Robbins (http://www.istealstuff.com/) runs a crew of professional thieves who consult for law enforcement. He was also our criminal consultant on Leverage. Every few weeks he would visit the writer’s room to advise on the scripts and keep us up to date about new cons and the latest in criminal technology.

One day during the third season he sat in with the writers while we broke a story. We posted the details of a real-life white collar criminal up on the room’s whiteboard, using him as the basis for our Mark. We looked at his weaknesses, how he moved his money, what his hobbies were. Once we were happy with that element of the story we added a Vault to the mix, one that used an interesting new alarm technology we’d researched. We then spent about an hour figuring out how to circumvent that alarm. We even sketched out a map of the imaginary building so we could keep track of our Crew’s movements during the Job.

“Well, I’m done here,” Apollo muttered. Noting our confusion, he pointed at the board and index cards cluttering the wall. “This is exactly how real Crews plan these things. This writer’s room is now a fully functioning criminal gang. You could be thieves.”

Of course writing television pays better than crime (usually), with far less chance of being arrested (usually), so we all managed to resist the temptation. But aside from the day a US Attorney asked us to change a plot because we’d created a scam that was a little too foolproof, or when a Homeland Security Agent admitted they were spooked by a security hole we’d exploited in our season finale, it was certainly one of the proudest moments I had on the show.

She's alot colder now after losing her first bitten mate but there's still that tiny hopeless romantic in her that truly makes her enid and it shows when she thinks back on what her and cairo is

It started with enid not at all knowing what she got into. Its to be expected, its only been a year or two since mabel and she was struggling with no money

Cairo happened once or twice when she caught enid with a bottle in some cheap dive bar. It made things feel simpler, like she was some college student stressing over the inability to do tests

But then enid got reminded of the gaping hole of the crimeworld and she really.... She couldnt help it. She had to take the plunge. She needed to do it, not for her but for May.

Timeskip a year or two and here they are now.

She can still love. Ofcourse she can but there will always be a part of her that aches for mabel and she knows that. Nobody could replace her wife but maybe just maybe she can try to open herself one last time

Its unfortunate that cairo can be such a damn brat once things became serious.

Enid gets it, she does. She ran alot too but things are different now. She has a family now, a little babe to watch over and if she has to ache a bit more to keep this family going then she will. Its callous, its mean and its cold. She wasnt like this, she wasnt supposed to be like this

But she is and she cant change it now, not when its working

Because cairo stays.

She is a beautiful songbird with an open gilded cage and she stays.

Good.

Whatever this is, it wasnt what a younger her wouldve wanted.

There is no whispered assurances against her skin, not in the way that is domestic and truly love. Its not unconditional, not like it was with mabel.

But nobody can replace mabel and nobody can turn back time.

So maybe theres no harm in loving like this for just a bit longer.

i love how ohjae just fantasizes to be sandwiched between dyds at all times like i don't understand his thought process exactly but i also do. very neat of him, may his aspirations annihilate him

i don’t think ohjae understands himself either 😢 let’s see if i can’t try to explain how i see/write him..

ohjae (like dongsoo) was handpicked by doyoung. all we really know about pre-doyoung ohjae is that he isn’t new to the crimeworld, to the point where doyoung recognizes his (handsome..) face from before he was drugged and arrested. so ohjae has been around. seemingly possibly maybe always serving someone- we get to see him serve doyoung. which leads him to things like digging into dongsoo’s life and past and tailing him and such… he gets just as entangled with dongsoo as doyoung does, and in his position of employment, he kind of ends up serving two guys instead of one.

which is probably A LOT for him to deal with. not only does he have to do like, real actual business work, he has to keep his original boss happy, and to keep doyoung happy he has to keep dongsoo happy. idk. i think they all rely on each other A LOT but would never say it out loud. but ohjae’s whole life revolves around those two, and he’s with them all the time and he sees weird stuff so maybe he gets infected with some fantasies..

im not sure if im making sense. ohjae is awesome. some of the obsessive freako love might have rubbed off on him from spending too much time with dyds. maybe he yearns for both of them because he can see the weird scary mutual(?) pining from an outside perspective- and if dy wants ds, oj should too, because his main purpose is to serve. same goes for ds, if he wants something from dy, oj must aim for it too…?

So in a hypothetical if roman was somehow still alive in the renegade au what sorta role would he play in the team in combat along with some extra equipment?

Alright for a hypothetical Renegades!Roman I'd start by fucking him up a little (since you know, he was eaten whole then exploded), so this version of Roman will have some mild scarring and burns, and a maimed leg that he now ironically has to properly use his cane for.

Due to his injury, Roman takes a more supportive role than an active combat role within the Renagades. His charisma and wit makes him great with negotiations and doing cons. His crimeworld connections makes him great for info brokering and black market deals. And his experience with piloting and driving a multitude of advanced vehicles makes him an ideal getaway driver for the renegades when they need a quick escape.

As for extra gear, I'd say upgrade his cane with a stun baton function incase enemies get close, and maybe an advanced Data Scroll just for him andall his dealings, information, and coordinating with the team.

Schemes and Memes

So, I've explained most of the structure of this first set of my custom block, but creatures aren't the only card type in the set (of course). Now, maybe I went a bit far in assigning… attitudes? to artifacts and enchantments, but if I do this right, the subtle conflict between villains using pure magic and heroes using physical tools should resonate nicely.

But we aren't at the point where such a conflict can really play out yet. In Part 1 here, artifacts are presented as ancient objects being revived and resurrected now that Magic has returned. Apparently, in a bygone age, magical artifacts were a big part of everyday life. Meanwhile, ephemeral, temporary enchantments can be powerful, persistent and overwhelming. As alluded to previously, the criminal elements on Ethra have made it their business to master these "magical arts" for their own purposes. In Part 1, some of the most powerful enchantments are Schemes.

Each Scheme has an activated ability that requires the presence of one of the villainous creature types in one way or another to activate and resemble an actual major crime as represented in Magic terms. Since each faction spans two colors, there are ten Schemes in Part 1. I originally had more than two Schemes for each faction, but I realized that would be actively promoting multicolor deck construction in Part 1 and Crimeworld is concepted as being a monocolor set. So, I shipped the off-color Schemes to Part 2. It was a bit of a shame, but at least they would eventually see the light of day.

your ask made me think of another au, Master with bheem as j.d. and ram as bhavani. how do u think this is gonna play out? ram is a morally gray guy but not to the extent shown in the film, he's still redeemable. bheem is the professor who's trying to set the kids right cuz he lost malli

You know what? From what I've seen in the movie, I can definitely see this unfolding. Bheem becoming alcoholic after he loses Malli and trying to retain a job and ending up teaching delinquents and actually fighting for them when he discovers something wrong has happened and on the other side is Ram where he is like fuck my life and trauma and and tries to do good but is sunk deep into the crimeworld. And the two of them meet not knowing that they are actually fighting each other and yessss!!!

Ram helps Bheem control his alcohol and when Bheem intially thinks that Ram was a gunda he tries to get him out of crime before discovering that he's the boss himself and works hard on subtly trying to reform him but then Ram discovers and they fight before they vent out their back stories and well... That's all my sleep deprived brain can think of rn 👀

Oh and maybe both of them are a tiny bit suicidal because of their lives

Bai Ji-Shin Chang is a Weird man,Most of his past is Shrouded in Darkness.As boss of the Thailand  branch of the Sun Yee On,namely one of the Hong Kong Triad,he’s stationed in Roanapur. He has admit to Rock he’s ex law enforcement member.We get his quote:”The thing I hate most in the world is Hypocricy.It smells like roses,but it’s still a pile of shit.It’s even worse than “evil”.It’s a poison that deceives not only others,but also your self.No different from a pile of shit with Chanel poured all over it”!

So Why Did He join the Triads?When did he decide this Manner of Life?Probably he made this crucial decision around the end of 80′s.At that time,there was only one event,an awful,who could’ve pushed Him to decide so.One exposed to him all the Chinese Regime’s Hypocricy,and a Decent mentality as well.The Tienanmen demonstrations.

You can turn one MCU film into a six episode D+ series and turn one of the D+ shows into a feature length film. What are your picks?

Age Of Ultron, regardless of one's views of it, does a lot of world building for the MCU. It'd be interesting to see that film turnt into a D+ series for that reason alone. James Spader deserves more screentime. Him & The Vision should've had more dialogue & fight scenes.

The Eternals is my favorite of the phase 4 films. I honestly want to see that turnt into a D+ series simply so there is more time with the characters & the world building in the movie. More time should've been spent on everything in this movie - that is my only complaint. Make all the episodes an hour long & have one episode focus mainly on the Celestials & their connections to the corners of the MCU/MCM that we are familiar with.

Loki should be a 4 hour movie like the ZSJL - let half of it be about Loki's & Sylvie's journey to HWR, the 2nd half about what the TVA & Multiverse are like now that Kang has conquered HWR'S old place. Loki, NWH, DS-MOM, Quantumania would make an amazing multiverse quartet (quadrilogy?).

FATWS should be a movie. I enjoyed the series & all the Captain America films but this series simply should've been a movie. This series should be a movie on the condition it delivers a much heavier conflict between Falcon (& maybe anyother heroes who find themselves in the mix), The Flagsmashers, The Powerbroker, & possibly throw Kingpin & the Contessa into the mix. Have this film serves as the MCU introduction for Matt Murdoch & Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Show Wilson, Powerbroker, & Contessa in a challenge for control of a post-Snap crimeworld.
