Tilak Varma's "Helicopter" shot against the RCB evokes comparisons to MS Dhoni
At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, Tilak Varma batted expertly and smashed a scintillating fifty to propel Mumbai Indians to a challenging 171 for seven against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Five-time champions MI struggled to get going when they were put into play, but Varma, fresh off a successful previous campaign, came through, holding the innings together with an unbeaten 46-ball 84-run knock. Nine boundaries and four sixes were thrown into his innings. Read More...

AB de Villiers confirms Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s second pregnancy; says, “It’s family time and things are important to him”
AB de Villiers shares Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma set to welcome second child.
Cricket enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the return of Virat Kohli to the cricket field, following his absence from the first two Tests against England. The former Indian cricket team captain's break has sparked speculation about the reasons behind his decision.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) urged the public to respect Virat Kohli's privacy during this period, his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers recently shed light on the matter during a YouTube live session. Responding to inquiries about Kohli's condition, de Villiers told fans, “All I know is he is fine. He is spending a bit of time with his family, that is the reason he is missing the first two Test matches. I am not going to confirm anything else. I cannot wait to see him back. He is fine, he is happy.”
The South African cricketer shared snippets of his conversation with Kohli, where the latter expressed the need to prioritize family at this juncture. Confirming the speculation, de Villiers revealed, “Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him, but he has made the right decision.”
On the film front, Anushka Sharma is gearing up for the release of Chakda Xpress. The film will see her play the lead role of former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. It will release on Netflix. Backed by her brother Karnesh Sharma's production house Clean Slate Filmz, the film also stars Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Babil Khan.

[ad_1] A snap from the interview A RevSportz Exclusive Sourav Ganguly is one of the best analysts of the sport. As captain and leader, he changed the face of Indian cricket. It was his 144 at The Gabba that defined the tour of Australia in 2003-4 and when Ganguly says, “Send Shami immediately to Australia”, it is something that will surely be taken note of. In this hour-long chat in the ground floor living room of his Behala residence, Ganguly opened up on all things Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Part 1 Excerpts: Boria: Shami has bowled 40-plus overs. He has picked up 7 wickets. After this, there aren’t any more Ranji Trophy games. Do you think he should be sent to Australia? Sourav: Absolutely. He must go. He doesn’t need to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He should do to Australia by the next flight. Go and bowl in the nets. Even if he doesn’t play in Perth, he will get to bowl and get ready. Boria: Without Shami, is this bowling underdone? Sourav: No. Little bit weakened, because [Jasprit] Bumrah, Shami, [Mohammed] Siraj is stronger than Bumrah, Siraj, and Prasidh [Krishna]. Definitely stronger. But fast bowlers do get injured, you cannot do anything about it. Mohammed Shami needs to be on the flight to Australia as soon as possible. Boria: India going in with a 0-3 series loss to New Zealand. How do you look at it? Can India compete? Sourav: I think for me, at the moment, India – Australia, India – England are two of the best series in world cricket. Obviously, the Ashes is there. But I think these two series will be keenly watched and going through the social media, through news and all, I can feel there is a lot of excitement in Australia. Rightfully so, for five Test matches. [Virat] Kohli and Rohit [Sharma] may not be going back to the country again after this. There is enough in this series. It is going to be a fascinating series, and I am looking forward to it. I wish I could be there to work on the series, but my other commitments are stopping me from doing it. It is going to be a great series, and I will be up in the morning to watch the action from Perth. I know it is not an early morning wake up time, not at 5:30 because of time differences, and that should help! India has a chance, of course. I know they did not play well against New Zealand, and they are responsible for it. They cannot play on such pitches. I have repeatedly said this. When you have the quality of [Ravichandran] Ashwin, [Ravindra] Jadeja, Kuldeep [Yadav], Axar [Patel], and Washington [Sundar], you do not need pitches which turn square because it takes the batting away. There has not been not a single 100 in that series, except the one by Sarfaraz [Khan] in Bangalore. That speaks volumes on how the surfaces played throughout the Test matches. And I say this repeatedly. I said this when I was captain, when Virat was captain, some of the pitches spun a lot. It takes the batting away. Batsmen lose confidence if they do not score runs game after game, and I think that is something which needs to be looked at. I have always said win Test matches in five days, not in three days. And with Ashwin and Jadeja, Test matches change very quickly on day three, day four, day five in India. It may look flat and nothing happening on day one, day two and then suddenly things start changing. That is what they should look at. Gautam [Gambhir] needs to make sure the pitches are better. They are a good side, and against Australia, it is going to be a fascinating series. A lot of people are saying they will be whitewashed, but I do not think so. The pitches will be better. EXCLUSIVE “If I was him, I’d play the Perth Test,” says Sourav Ganguly on Rohit Sharma. Ganguly believes that #RohitSharma will feature in the Perth Test.@ThumsUpOfficial @BoriaMajumdar @SGanguly99 @ImRo45 #SouravGanguly #AUSvsIND #BorderGavaskarTrophy2024 pic.twitter.com/Bj3vD5pXux — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 16, 2024 Boria: Are you worried about the fragility in India’s batting?
Sourav: No, I do not think the batting is fragile. I personally believe from a career standpoint and also reputation-wise, it is a make-or-break series for [Shubman] Gill. I heard he is injured, and I hope he recovers quickly. For him and Yashasvi [Jaiswal], it is going to be a big series. I hope Rohit Sharma goes very soon. As a team, they need him. He has had a baby boy a couple of days ago. So, I am sure he can leave as early as possible and today is the 16th. If I was in his position, he should be playing the Perth Test. It is on 22nd, which is still almost a week away. Because it is a big series and maybe he will not go to Australia after this. He is a fantastic captain, and the team needs his leadership to start with. Boria: You were instrumental in making him Test captain at the time you were BCCI President, because he wasn’t keen initially. Sourav: Yeah, because he did not want to as he was captaining in every other format. So, there was a lot of workload anyway on him. But I do not believe in workload. Test captain of India will always be Test captain of India, and I told him so. I said do not finish your career not being Test captain of India. Boria: Tell me something. KL Rahul, what is his problem? Is it in the mind? Sourav: Yeah, confidence. He has to speak to himself. He has to speak to himself and say, just put everything behind. Ups and downs are part and parcel of sports. Confidence will go up and down. You have to bring it back by working hard in the nets. I know he has gone through a lot. Lucknow Super Giants have released him. I do not know whether they will buy him back in the auction. I am sure he will find a good team and get his worth in the IPL. But these things put pressure on players. In and out of the team, he is seeing young players play well in T20s. You see what they have done in South Africa. He has to change and cannot keep playing the same way and expect to be picked all the time, because somebody else will come and get picked. So, I think he has got to sit with himself and get away from everything, all his friends and family, team and IPL owners, auctions and self-discover. Look at the mirror and say, I need to play differently. I need to get tough inside and fight this period. He has got a fantastic 100 in South Africa last time round. He can score hundreds in these conditions. But the mind has to believe that, and the fight has to be there. Boria: If Rohit does not make it to the Perth, you would open with Rahul, because that is what Gautam indicated? Sourav: I think so, and play Dhruv Jurel in the middle. Boria: Gautam Gambhir – so much flak already after one series! Sourav: All I will say is let him be. I saw some criticism on what he said in the press conference. It is the way he is. Let him be. When he won the IPL, he was the same. You were going gaga over him. Just because he has lost three Test matches and a one-day series against Sri Lanka, the straight talk has not been looked at nicely. But that is the way he is. And why not? Australians, from the time I have watched cricket, they have been tough for you. They have played their cricket that way, whether it was [Steve] Waugh, [Ricky] Ponting or [Matthew] Hayden. So, there is nothing wrong with what Gambhir has said. That is the way he is, and he fights. He competes, so let us give him a chance. It has just been two-three months, and you are passing judgement on him. EXCLUSIVE “He should be on the flight to Australia” says Sourav Ganguly on Mohammed Shami@BoriaMajumdar @SGanguly99 @MdShami11 #SouravGanguly #AUSvsIND #BorderGavaskarTrophy2024 pic.twitter.com/iSaWzPmWvr — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 16, 2024 Boria: The Australians have started already, and they will go after him. What is the problem if he says something? Sourav: No problem whatsoever. Let him say whatever he likes, for that will help him. Ultimately you have to go and play the game hard. That is the way it is, and it has happened for ages against Australian cricket teams.
That makes this series even more competitive and even more followed by people. So let it be. Let’s give Gambhir a chance. You have given him a job. In two months, you cannot pass a judgement on him. I know the next nine months, it will be very hard for him. Five Test matches in England. Champions Trophy. It will decide Gambhir. So, from my point of view, give him a chance and do not be too hard on him. Part 2 to follow. On Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Bumrah, India’s choice of spinner at Perth and more. Tbh I can't see Virat being all mean girls to Josh at RCB 😭 there are honestly two versions of Vi. The first is on-field Vi. That is the superstar of cricket, the Indian batting hero, the abusive and arrogant and smug captain. Then there's off field Vi. That is pookie! Vi. That is cute, cuddly, sweet, funny, mischievous, happy, bouncy, giggly and excitable little Vi. Vi on field is pretty much 😡👿🤬👊🏻😤 Vi off field is pretty much 😇🥰🤗🎀 haha.
So anyways, once Josh joins RCB, I can see Vi immediately go up to him, and go, "Hiee!! So happy to have you here, oh my god, I couldn't believe my ears when I heard you signed up for us! We're gonna have so much fun together!" Josh blinks, taken aback. Before he can formulate a polite reply to that, Vi is off on a tangent again, chattering nine to the dozen about where his room is, where the training grounds are, what they usually do at training, what they do after training, what are the best places to visit in Bangalore and how he'd be totally up to showing Josh around if he's interested in exploring. Everything is said at the speed of light, barely letting Josh comprehend what's said or letting him get a word in edgewise.
"Is he always like this?" Josh asks Maxi once, staring at Vi dance around the dressing room, singing along to a loud Punjabi song at the top of his voice.
"Like what?" Maxi asks, grinning fondly.
"... So chirpy and crazy." Josh replies. It's been ten minutes of this insanity, and Vi still doesn't look like he'll stop anytime soon. Josh's head has already started pounding. He handles Maxi and Marnus and Steve in the national team, he has absolutely no wish to deal with Vi in the IPL. Is a bit of peace and quiet too much to ask for?
It is, as it turns out. Vi keeps hanging out with Josh, hauling him to clubs and bars for post-match parties, encouraging him to join him on the dance floor and show some moves (josh almost faints with horror at that) and just talking Josh's ear off about every topic under the sun every time they meet.
Then, once Josh is having a really bad day, and Vi doesn't know that, and is being his usual vivacious and animated self. Vi is jabbering about something as usual, God knows what, josh lost the train half an hour ago, but you know, at this point he's tired, he wants to go to bed and sleep , he absolutely has no energy left to tolerate how loud and lively vi is. And getting irritated, he snaps at Vi, "Enough! Will you shut up now, or are you planning to natter on through the night? One of these days, you'll talk yourself to death. I'm sick of your foolish prattle!"
The moment Josh says that, he wishes he could take it all back, because the joy on Vi's face just shatters within a moment, and the excited gleam in his eyes dims to nothing. "Ohhh.." he says, lost for words for once. "I didn't realise I was boring you. I'm sorry." He looks absolutely crestfallen, and before Josh can apologise for his stupidity, the other runs off.
"That was so mean of you," Maxi glares at him, uncharacteristically serious.
After that day, Vi always guards his tongue around Josh, he's no longer his fun, playful self with him anymore. Instead, he mostly avoids him now, and when they have to interact, Vi is really wary around him, as if he's scared of Josh getting annoyed at him again. Then Josh realizes that while he complained so much about Vi's foolish babbling earlier, he actually misses having no one talking in his ear, pulling him to dance now, and he'd do anything to have Vi revert to that cheerful, bubbly version.
this is a really fun headcanon but i don't think it fits josh very well tbh, he might find virat a bit annoying at first but we do have to remember he regularly plays with guys like marnus. like he would be very used to dealing with very annoying teammates, plus he has a reputation for being cool and collected!
i would imagine when they first became teammates they would have a bit of a rivalry given how often hoff's taken virat's wicket (he even got him on his test debut!) and i think that would be the route to go down if you want that kind of tension! they could blow up in a similar way like maybe if someone took the sledging too far in the nets?

The Perfect Snack for IPL Matches in Bangalore: Why Cashews Are the Ultimate Choice
Attending an IPL match in Bangalore is an exhilarating experience. The electrifying atmosphere, the roaring crowd, and the excitement of live cricket are unmatched. However, ensuring you have the right snacks to keep you fueled throughout the event is essential. Cashews stand out as a superior choice among the myriad of snack optionsfor several compelling reasons. This blog delves into why Cashews are the best snack to bring to IPL matches in Bangalore, focusing on their nutritional benefits, convenience, versatility, and more.
Nutritional Benefits of Cashews
Nutrient-Dense Powerhouses
Cashews are packed with essential nutrients, making them a healthy and beneficial snack. They are an excellent source of protein, healthy fats, and dietary fiber, and they provide significant amounts of vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, copper, and manganese.
1. Protein: With about 5 grams of protein per ounce, cashews are vital for muscle repair and growth. Protein helps maintain energy levels, which is crucial during the long hours of an IPL match.
2. Healthy Fats: Cashews are rich in unsaturated fats, which are beneficial for heart health. These fats help reduce bad cholesterol levels while improving good cholesterol levels, contributing to cardiovascular health.
3. Fiber: Dietary fiber in cashews aids digestion and helps keep you feeling full longer. This is particularly beneficial when you're at the stadium for several hours, as it prevents the need for frequent, less healthy snacking.
4. Vitamins and Minerals: Cashews are loaded with vitamins E, K, and B6, and minerals like copper, phosphorus, zinc, magnesium, iron, and selenium. These nutrients support various bodily functions, from boosting immunity to promoting bone health and preventing anemia.
Convenience of Carrying Cashews
Easy to Pack and Carry
One of the most significant advantages of cashews is their convenience. Cashews do not require refrigeration and can be stored in small containers or resealable bags, making them an ideal travel snack. Unlike some snacks that need special storage conditions or preparation, cashews are ready to eat straight out of the bag.
Lightweight and Portable
Cashews are lightweight and won't add much bulk to your bag. This is especially useful when you need to carry other essentials like water bottles, hats, and sunscreen for a day at the stadium. A small pouch of cashews can easily fit into your pocket or a small bag without taking up much space, ensuring you have a hassle-free snacking experience.
Versatility of Cashews
Flavor Varieties to Suit Every Palate
Cashews come in various flavors and preparations, adding an exciting element of variety to your snacking. Whether you prefer them salted, roasted, honey-coated, or spiced, there's a flavor for every taste. This variety ensures that you won't get bored of your snack choice, even if the match stretches on for hours.
Perfect for Snack Mixes
Cashews can be paired with other snacks to create a more substantial and interesting mix. Combining cashews with dried fruits, other nuts, or even chocolate pieces creates a delicious sweet and savory mix that enhances the taste and boosts the nutritional value of your snack.
Practical Considerations for Stadium Snacking
Non-Perishable and Durable
Cashews are non-perishable, making them a safe and reliable snack option. They can withstand Bangalore's heat and humidity without spoiling, unlike some other snacks that may go bad or melt. This durability ensures that your snack remains fresh and enjoyable throughout the match.
Clean and Mess-Free
Cashews are a clean snack. They don't leave residue on your hands like chips or other greasy snacks and they don't crumble, which means less mess to deal with. This cleanliness is particularly important in a stadium setting where you might not have easy access to hand-washing facilities.
Easy Portion Control
Cashews can be easily portioned, allowing you to control your intake. This is beneficial if you're mindful of your calorie intake or want to ensure your snack lasts through the entire match. Pre-portioned packs are available, or you can measure out servings into small containers before heading to the stadium, making it easy to enjoy a healthy amount.
Health Benefits of Cashews
Sustained Energy Boost
The combination of protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates in cashews provides a sustained energy boost, keeping you alert and energized throughout the match. This is particularly useful during day-night matches that extend into the late evening, helping you stay engaged and enthusiastic.
Promotes Heart Health
The monounsaturated fats found in cashews are known to promote heart health by lowering bad cholesterol levels and increasing good cholesterol levels. Regular consumption of cashews can contribute to improved cardiovascular health, offering an added benefit while enjoying your favorite sport.
Supports Weight Management
Although cashews are calorie-dense, they can assist with weight management when eaten in moderation. Their high fiber and protein content helps you feel full, decreasing the chances of overeating or choosing less healthy stadium snacks. This makes cashews an excellent option for those aiming to maintain a balanced diet.
Cultural and Local Relevance
Locally Available and Fresh
Cashews are widely available in Bangalore, both in supermarkets and local markets. Karnataka, the state where Bangalore is located, is one of India's major cashew producers. This local availability means you can easily purchase fresh and high-quality cashews before heading to the match, ensuring you get the best product.
Supporting the Local Economy
By purchasing locally produced cashews, you support the local economy and farmers, aligning with the ethos of promoting sustainable and responsible consumption. Supporting local produce not only ensures freshness but also contributes to the community's economic well-being.
Practical Tips for Bringing Cashews to IPL Matches
1. Opt for Pre-Packaged Snacks: Look for small, pre-packaged cashew snacks that are easy to carry and consume. These are often available in portion-controlled packs, which are convenient for a day out and help you manage your intake.
2. Create Your Own Trail Mix: Combine cashews with almonds, walnuts, and dried fruits like raisins and cranberries to create your own trail mix. This adds variety and boosts the nutritional profile of your snack, making it even more enjoyable.
3. Try Flavor Enhancements: If you prefer flavored snacks, consider buying cashews roasted with spices or coated with a light honey glaze. These can satisfy both sweet and savory cravings, offering a delightful snacking experience.
4. Use Reusable Containers: Pack your cashews in small, reusable containers. This environmentally friendly option helps reduce single-use plastic waste and keeps your snacks fresh and organized.
5. Stay Hydrated: While cashews are a great snack, don’t forget to stay hydrated. Carry a reusable water bottle to ensure you can keep drinking water throughout the match, maintaining your energy and focus.
Conclusion
Cashews are an outstanding snack choice for IPL matches in Bangalore due to their nutritional benefits, convenience, and versatility. They are easy to carry, require no special storage conditions, and provide a healthy energy boost to keep you going throughout the match. By choosing cashews, you can enjoy a delicious and nutritious snack while supporting local agriculture and reducing your environmental footprint.
So, the next time you head to Chinnaswamy Stadium to cheer on your favorite IPL team, make sure you pack a generous portion of cashews. This simple yet powerful snack will ensure you have a satisfying and enjoyable snacking experience, allowing you to focus on the thrill of the game without worrying about hunger or unhealthy food choices. Embrace the local flavors, support the local economy, and enjoy the numerous health benefits that come with every handful of cashews.
