hello, anon! i actually am very indecisive when it comes to sticking to reshade presets because i love them all, so if i were to compile a list of all the reshades i've ever used, it would probably be longer than the tumblr post limit, xD. as it is though, i've compiled a list of my top 5 reshade presets just for you!

these are in no particular order, and they're very much based on my own personal preference, so do keep that in mind! <3

MY TOP 5 RESHADE PRESETS FOR TS2

1. dove 2.0 by @kindlespice

i love this preset SO MUCH, like many of the reshades i use it's originally meant for ts4 but looks really cool in ts2 as well! especially with clay hair.

i have made some of my own edits to it in my game to make it match my semi-realistic save more, but here is how it looks in my maxis-match save! <3

2. permasummer by myself!

self-promo but this was my first preset and i'm still quite proud of it! i only use it for certain builds now as my style has really evolved since i first started playing with it, but it still has a special place in my heart :3

3. longdistancewinner by @dreadpirate

i just love the dreamy look my game has when i use this reshade--so pretty! it also fits with almost every style you have, maxis match or alpha :)

4. gia by @kindlespice

another kindlespice preset that i really love! again, it's for ts4, but who cares when it looks so cute in ts2? build wip of the oldie-pleasant home for reference :D

5. tv dinner by @microscotch

there are actually 3 presets on that download post and i've used all 3 with varying results, but i love this one the most! it looks especially good at sunset.

Is Lazy Duchess Launcher worth it?

Lately I've been having huge pink flashing problems.

Deleting my cc is out of the question because I've seen people playing vanilla that still have pink flashing and people playing with 40+ GB have no problems (I have 11GB), so I've tried every solution but now it's become hell. Before I had PF ONLY if I played for hours and hours, now as soon as I open the game EVERYTHING is immediately pink.

I'm pretty sure everything has gotten worse since I installed the Better Nightlife mod (and before you tell me, yes, I have compatibility with the lighting mod I use and all the other shaders). I use Dreadpirate's Cinema Secret + Voeille water.

My PC is a gaming PC with Win10, the game is optimized with the graphic rules and the 4GB patch. All my CC are compressed and merged. Every single cc I have Is from safe and good cc creators here on Tumblr. My Download folder Is super organized, so I'm sure isn't a mod problem too.

The first time I had PF it was when I installed GShade years ago (now I have ReShade) but it was very rare. NEVER had it before.

I play with the view distance on medium, I try to use as few decorations as possible in the neighborhood and I have often noticed that I could play in neighborhoods without any decorations but it is often the neighborhoods with large lots (and not too big in size) that trigger pink flashing. house like the one of the Goths, for comparision.)

Sometimes it doesn't even matter if the lot has two pieces of furniture, Pink Flashing comes and devastates everything.

Isn't neither a thumbnails problem because I have already cached everything.

So the question: it's true that LD's Launcher greatly decreases the PF frequency? I never wanted to install it because I've never had PF problems, but now it's impossible to play.

I'm afraid to install it because I know many people who say that instead of improving the situation, the Launcher has made everything worse, that now the PF is more intense and that they suffer from a lot of lag...

So here are more questions:

Can I uninstall it without having to uninstall and reinstall the entire game if it causes me problems?

Can I start the game from its normal .exe even if I have installed the launcher? (Meaning, I know I have to run the game from the Launcher for the Launcher effects to work, I mean can I run the game without the Launcher effects, for comparison and stuff)

May I ask where you get the cc for your Sims’s clothes and makeup.? Theyre really cute.

Oh, this is a tough one! I get my clothes from all over the place, I have about 5GB worth and don't know if I could list everywhere I've downloaded from.

hi! i never uploaded him originally (or the version i showed off) but i did make a v2 that is more accurate to his RE4 (aka that 2004 realness) appearance, so i'll post it now.

additional credits: all the creators whose cc i used on him, dreadpirate, microscotch, virtualpeople & marigolde for the skin & eye bases i used and ofc capcom for the face & eye textures i stretched, warped & painted over to make his skin & eyes. GET HIM HERE!

Hey, I would like to download all the hair replacements, do you have a folder or merged link?

Hi! I don't have bulk upload of all my hair replacement I made so far and honestly I'm not planning to do anything like that ever. I guess I could share my sfs folders with everything but I won't - it still would be downloading everything one by one and since I give multiple ages options for most my defaults and I already made few defautls for some hairs it would be just confusing, so it's faster and safer to go through database or my list and choose one by one from posts. There’s no guarantee that all the hairs I’ve chosen would be to your liking anyway (nor my liking I change my mind constantly, after all I keep making same defaults unprovoked like last upload haha)

If you're looking specificaly for bulk defaults there are some creators that posted something like this, like PlatinumAspiration, DreadPirate, SpookyMuffinSims, and Rudhira has some for specific packs and hmm IDK who else but yeah these are some options I know of

What’s your favorite Sims death?

Hmm, I like the burn-up in the sun death for vampires. Although it never has happened once in my game, I do like how dramatic it is.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

Maxis Match for sure.

Do you cheat your Sims' weight?

Nope. If they roll the want to work out, or automatically do so, I guess they can become fit. Other than that, I couldn't care less.

Do you move objects?

All the time. I dunno why, but I create the buggiest lots sometimes, so uh, some intervention is needed.

Favorite Mod?

This one's a tough one! If I had to choose one mod I can't live without it has to be ACR. Without it the game's so dull I think.

First Expansion/Game Pack/Stuff Pack?

Haha! It was Supernatural for TS3.

Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing?

Neither? I pronounce it LIVE mode.

Gameplay... Building is a means to an end for me.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

It depends on what CC I was using at the time. When I first started playing TS2, I only cared for hairs and clothes. I also had mismatched hair systems.

As you can see, poppet with simgaroop with god knows what else. My defaults also didn't match!

I call this stage of my simming career trying to find my style. I tried different hair systems and different CC styles. I have a dedicated PV-ST hood with only true maxis match CC.

This is when I about settled for Dreadpirate's Pitstop skins and Simgaroop hairs. I also started using face details (?) like wrinkles, shadows, and shapers. It really was a game-changer.

Some of my most recent pics. Although I changed hair systems again, this time to Trotylka's Remi hair system, it pretty much is the same. Feels nice to settle on one thing and stick to it.

Who’s your favorite CC creator?

Oooh I have lots, but the top of my head I can list @moocha-muses @deedee-sims @pforestsims @lucilla-sims @mdpthatsme and so so many more. My game thanks every single CC creator out there.

How long have you had Simblr?

I have no idea. I used to be active on @hystericallytragicsimmer before, so I don't know if that counts as well. I'd say 2018-2019ish/

I've decided to release all my Lowdenhood townies that I've created with Pooklet's face generator technique. Don't worry, absolutely all my uploads will be free and available to the public. 

I've decided to create a patreon only for those who would wish to support me and buy me coffee sometime as I am a full time student, so no pressure! I am using default replacements created by talented simmers in this community and I will give credit to each and one of them.

 Disclaimer:

Most of the Sims come with either non or just a little bit of CC, most of them are made with a default replacements that I use and I will link them if you want the same exact look. I removed all of their make-up though.

I still heavily advice to install the simmies with sim clean installer so YOUR GAME would not receive any unnecessary stuff so to speak! 

I made a massive attachment instead of creating a download link for each sim. The folder will contain sim name and their picture so you can see what you download and which sims you might not want in your game.

Want to create a sim to appear in my Campbell Quay BaCC?

Here's your chance!

As mentioned in a previous post last week, Althea (my founder) needs some new townies/playables to start moving into the town as she has now become a Campaign Manager.

Now, there aren't any real rules as such - I would rather the sims didn't have CC - the less the better as I have to be careful on what I put in my game (albeit the pink flashing hasn't happened since I upgraded to @dreadpirate's maxis lighting mod last week! :D)

But of course if you'd rather the sim had a certain hairstyle/hair tone, I can always download that for that sim!

And as so many of you like and support the series I love so much, I thought 'Why not let you create some sims to be included?'

Requirements for the Sim:

Must be an Adult.

Name.

Backstory/idea of where they came from/strong past memories to take into account.

Traits (5 for adults).

Aspiration (can have a 2nd if you wish).

If you want to create more than one sim, then no more than 2 in a household.

Preferred but not essential:

Turn On's + Turn Off's decided.

Minimal/ No Custom Content included.

Degree or idea of their role in the town - some of my current sims have predetermined roles but we can discuss those later!

ANY Supernatural (including Human) life state.

Male or Female.

And that's about it (at the moment at least!)

Send me a direct message/chat when you're done and we'll figure out a way for me to download the sim in question.

If you don't want to make the sim but provide the backstory of a new sim, that is accepted as well! The more ideas the better!

All suggestions will be considered and if I don't add the sim straight away, I will keep them until later in the series!

In any case, I will always mention who the creator of the sim/idea is in the tumblr post and on the main Campbell Quay BaCC post on my web-tumblr page!

Honestly? The Sims 2 in 2020 has everything you could ask for in a PC game and with the new UI being released, it really just brings it all together. The only other thing I’d wish for is an open world, which I learned as of recently is a possibility, but would take years to remaster. I can only hope someone takes on the challenge. Aside from that, TS2 Community has proved time and time again that the age of a game is irrelevant if there are players who keep passion in their hearts for it. I want to take a few minutes to thank the Creators in this community who sustain an undying love for the craft of Modding/Custom Content Creation because without them, I’m convinced The Sims 2 wouldn’t have aged as gracefully as it has.

It’s apparent how passionate you are as a person and as a Simmer and I speak for all Simmers when I say you are considered a gem to this community! Hi I was wondering if you know of any cc skin tones that tan? I love that feature from Island Living (although still personally annoyed it worked better in earlier games AND didn’t but with Seasons but whatever EA suck) but any skin tone CC I download doesn’t do tanning or burning so I’m stuck using base game garbage.
