US CPA course, US CPA exam, Course details & SECRETS OF SUCCESS by Roopashree, Miles CPA student
Check out the journey of Roopashree as she achieved the CPA qualification in her very first attempt after failing successively in her attempts to clear CA (Don't miss the video at the end).
Roopashree who is also a semi-qualified CA, cleared her CPA exam in 2017. After her articleship, she had joined EY — GDS Bangalore as a Senior associate. She had devoted 3 years to her CA final and was losing out on her CA final success due to 1 or 2 marks. Her parents asked her to give one shot for CPA. In the case of CPA, it wouldn't matter they said, it's just the same qualification in a different country. Roopashree decided to go for the CPA course. As she checked out other tutorials for CPA, she discovered Miles on Youtube with Varun’s CPA videos. She liked the videos and was impressed with the CPA lectures of Varun. Being from CA background she was very comfortable with his teaching. She finds the books in-depth and more than sufficient for exams and was very comfortable. That’s why she straight away joined Miles. Watching videos at home is an option but she personally recommends classroom because in a group, in an environment where everyone is studying you can discuss studies. You can stop the video and ask any questions to the faculty present there. You can ask for further explanation and there are a lot of discussions happening. You know where you stand at the end of the day if you are lagging you will know. That’s why Roopashree preferred the classroom coaching for CPA. She started in December and in April she was decided to give her the exam. She quit her job at EY for studies and soon after the class she rushed to study the Miles book to get a hang of what’s happening in the class and tried to solve the practice questions suggested in the class. 4 days a week in the morning, from 5.30 to 7.30 she devoted to reading and full-day Saturday and Sunday at the class. A year needs to be devoted to studies and assume weekends are only for studies. Roopashree feels all subjects are equally challenging. FAR as a subject isn’t tough as it seems, its voluminous she says. Even being from CA background she felt it was challenging to cover it completely. Overall she feels without Miles the journey would have been unknown and she wouldn't know where she would land up. Starting from books, for any questions, Miles has separate WhatsApp groups or email the faculty or coordinator or ask in class or even ask in the WhatsApp group. In case you need an extra class you can go and if you want to watch the videos again Miles gives an opportunity to come down to their premises and play them again. For any explanation the coordinators are available. Even for question banks, any issues are resolved within 30 mins — 1 hour. Even when Roopashree was in the US for her CPA exams, she had some issues, she just emailed Miles and her problem was resolved. Roopashree says what Miles has for CPA is more than sufficient to pass. In fact, she was doubtful, and there were no aspirations. She was first in her family to do a CPA course, everyone in India only knows CA and everybody would ask what is CPA? She didn’t know anything but she trusted Varun, his books, the online test bank and she went for the exam. The way Miles books are drafted is very friendly, very compact and you can also do Wiley questions on the basis of the same book that are previous year exams AICPA questions. The online test bank makes you feel in the same environment with the same color screen and the same calculator. She feels the support is sufficient and felt the exam was easy in line with the practice questions. Roopashree did rigorous studies on BEC and REG together which she passed in November. Later she attended the revision classes for FAR and gave her FAR and AUD exams with a week’s gap. She worked without the CPA qualification in the same company and after getting the CPA qualification and she can make out the difference. Questions in the online test bank are similar there in the final exam too which she experienced in her exam. Another thing Roopashree liked about the Online test bank, the correct answers are prompted in real-time. Roopashree has recommended Miles to her friends who have been stuck and they are comfortable. She just watched his videos and feels Varun teaches like a faculty like CA students are taught with topics like costing and tax. What Varun tells the class is important it’s certainly important. Varun is exam-oriented and when he says it’s important it will be in the exam. Roopashree suggests students study Miles thrice before exams, Wiley practice questions twice and Miles online test bank n number of times and you will pass the CPA exam.
