In the middle of the night, the mother cow broke down a fence and walked 7 miles in an unfamiliar area to the farm where her calf had been sold. She was found the next morning, contently #nursing her #baby, who was positively identified by the auction sticker. _ The bonds between #motherandchild are extremely #strong no matter the species, as also demonstrated by the story of a #female cow who gave #birth to a stillborn calf and suffered from the delivery. Although weak from medical complications, the cow #traveled a substantial distance through many #fields in order to find her own #mother. The next day, farmers found them #together and witnessed the mother soothing and grooming her distraught #daughter. _ Cows produce milk for the same reasons that humans do to nourish their #young. But calves born on dairy farms are taken away from their mothers the very first day they are born, or shortly after. The #milk meant to nourish them will be diverted for human consumption.
