I looked at him and said, "I'm immunocompromised and I'd rather not get sick because I'm serving customers", watched his face pale as he realized he'd f-ed up, and he awkwardly fled with a "oh, good for you!"

literally cannot describe how often people comment this kind of shit in a weirdly microagression sort of way. like cool that my customer service face fools you, i'll take the tips gladly, but for the love of fucking god stop telling me how "pretty" my smile is even with my mask. I just want to live.

Paxlovid is vital to us not suffering like we did with covid19 last year, but fuuuuuck...the "bad taste in your mouth" side effect is nasty. Yeah, it's a bad taste, and the only escape is by keeping something sweet in my mouth. Which is bad because cavities. Yucky.

At least I have Ricola lozenges. These are the only kind that don't upset my stomach, nor give my diarrhea. Artificial sweeteners always give me diarrhea, and too many lozenges contain that stuff. Ricola does not, and it has done wonders for my post-nasal drop.

That's what I woke up with, and what alerted me to the fact I had caught something. I never get post-nasal drip unless I'm sick. What is it? Basically, you nose is draining down the back of your throat, making it sore. Last year, it was my first covid symptom. I only get it when I catch a cold, influenza, and covid19.

This drug may be what saves us from a lot of suffering, but the side effects are a bitch. They're preferable to what we dealt with last year, so we'll deal with this. Last year, I was sick from the last week of August all the way through most of November, with every symptom except loss of smell/taste and pneumonia. I had all the vaccines (including pneumonia because three times in three years was enough) and boosters, which likely saved my life. I have asthma and several autoimmunine diseases, aka immunocompromised and shit goes real bad real quick. With covid, the only thing that saved me from dehydration courtesy of diarrhea was unripe bananas and lots of gatorade.

These side effects might have me miserable, but preventing long covid, in-patient care in a hospital, and death are worth it. I will complain though.
