i believe blight's design rhymes with phosphorus's because so many of the beyond antagonists parallel with batman/dc antagonists. freeze, bane, joker, and ra's al-ghul may still appear as themselves, but arguably inque correlates to clayface and catwoman, spellbinder to scarecrow and riddler, cuvier to langstrom, big time with grundy, and so on. thus, they rhyme while still being "updated" to fit the cyberpunk setting

i remember a timm and/or dini interview, where they said they were approached with a pitch for a "high school AU" for tas batman where all the characters attended arkham high or something of that nature. they refused for many reasons, but ultimately they ended up with a counter-pitch where they only loosely interpreted "the assignment" and presented the studio with the concept of a future batman with bruce's *successor* in high school
