This is actually a REALLY important thing I want to share with everyone. When building large props and weapons, you really MUST take into consideration how you are traveling with it and what your budget is. I am taking a bus or train to my con. Flying is always an available option. If I’m riding in a car with people I don’t want to be the one with the giant props taking up all the space. And I can’t afford to ship shit. So throughout my build I measure and make sure my weapons and props fit within my luggage or guitar case. So that when traveling I have one contained unit to pack. I can slide this in the bottom of a trunk. Or in the storage under a bus. Or check it for a flight. It stays with me, rather than entrusting it to a carrier and hoping for the best. I have known enough people with horror stories about what happens to their cardboard boxes when shipped to cons. I managed to fit three large weapons into one guitar case.
