One more of Jasmine, my #CosplayoftheMonth for January! ❤ I've got some more work to do on the headband before I can bring this to an event, but I'm happy with it so far, considering I've been collecting the pieces for this cosplay over the span of 2 years. 😂😂😂 Oh, someone asked if I dyed my hair back to black for this! I did not. It's the Lacefront Peek-A-Boo in black from @gothiclolitawigs / @rockstarwigs ❤ #VanessaLopaCosplays . . . . . . #cosplay #DisneyPrincesscosplay #Jasminecosplay #DisneyPrincess #PrincessJasmine #DisneyCosplay #Disneybound #cosplaygirls #pinoycosplayers #cosplayersPH #Pinay #gandangpinay #proudpinay #Filipinabeauty #Filipina #creativity #makeup #FOTD #wingedeyeliner #prettygirl #goldjewelry #chunkyearrings #lacefrontwig #wig4wig #djvanessa891 # https://www.instagram.com/p/B7qOfzxpC6R/?igshid=153t10k1opkhj

"Did you forget about me?" 😭😭😭 Hatsune Miku is my #CosplayoftheMonth for February! Used @coastalscents Original 88 palette for my brows, and @filipintabeauty's Sorbetes palette's Babolgam for my eyes. 💙💙💙 I was supposed to release this for twintails day (2.2) but my schedule and energy levels were not cooperating. 😔 Glad I finally got to sort of do this cosplay! I've had the costume since 2013 and it actually no longer fits me (idk how I got into it this time!) and my first Miku wig actually got stolen before. 🤣🤣🤣 I still adore the Lots of Laugh version of Miku, so I'll probably attemot to do this cosplay again sometime. 😍 https://www.instagram.com/p/B82ee7Dpd26/?igshid=auqkltg1bout

#CosplayOfTheMonth: Alice, but make her a Princess! (April)
Growing up, I thought Alice was a Disney Princess. I know now that she isn’t (and there’s apparently a set of rules for what qualifies a character to be a DP!), but I decided to play around with that idea for this month’s look! I think it came out looking more like a young Marie Antoinette than the general Alice aesthetic that most people are familiar with, oopsie.
Why I chose Alice for this month
I chose Alice for this month because of her encounters with many confusing and hard-to-believe things in Wonderland, not too far from how we all feel on April Fools’ Day!
About the look
If you’ve been a long-time follower, then you probably already know that I love lolita fashion. Something about the whimsical, dainty aesthetic has always spoken to me, so even though I can’t wear it as often, I’ve kept my frilly clothes around. My inner blouse here is actually a short dress! I’ve had this blue Bodyline jumperskirt for years, and in my head, it has always been my “Alice” dress.
For makeup, I really slapped on a lot of blush, and did my eyes as doll-like as possible! I had some offbrand Diamond Lash dupes for my upper falsies, then snipped short a pair of my Rock-A-Lash #8 - Underlash B to complete the eyemake.
My wig is the Gothic Lolita Wigs Countess in Blanche, teased a little more for volume. Personally, I find the bouffant to be one of those impractically princess-y things. XD I kept my accessories pretty simple for this one, since the hair was already over-the-top. One of my trusty bow clips from Forever21, and a single strand of pearls that I borrowed from my mom coz my own pearls were too yellow-toned. HAHAHAHA
Thoughts
May have gone too OTT with this one? I definitely like the outcome, but it feels a little too far from Alice. Maybe I’ll take another shot at it sometime. What do you think?
‘Til next entry, Vanessa ❤

Last of my #CosplayOfTheMonth for April: Alice!
I chose my characters for this project at the end of 2019, and I feel like the universe played a cruel joke on me with this one. A character with a topsy turvy story for a month that turned out to be a rollercoaster for everyone around the world. Stay healthy, stay strong, stay home as much as you can! Take care, everyone! ❤

#CosplayOfTheMonth: Barbara Millicent Roberts! (March)
Life in plastic, it’s fantastic! (Aqua, “Barbie Girl”, 1997) I chose to do a Barbie look for March because of her birthday (Mar9), International Womens Day (Mar8), and Women’s History Month! ❤
Why I chose Barbie for this month I know she gets a lot of crap for her unrealistic figure, but I was lucky to have a few Barbie dolls growing up, because it allowed me to get creative. She helped me with roleplaying for theater, and she was my first model for my sewing projects! She’s a big part of my personal history.
Barbie has come quite a long way, as a strong independent character who’s had over 100 different jobs that people have said aren’t “for girls.” And more recently, Barbie dolls have come in a range of sizes and skin tones! I stopped collecting them long ago, but I won’t lie about being tempted to grab one of the thicc olive-skinned dolls for myself! About the look I have several blonde wigs in my collection, this one is the Yaki lacefront by Gothic Lolita Wigs. I was originally gonna go with a generic pink top and a denim jacket for a very casual Barbie look, but then Forever 21 released their Barbie collaboration collection and I DIED. I grabbed a few pieces (and I’m still waiting for some to be released locally!) and decided that this shirt and these sunglasses would be my wardrobe for this look.
For makeup, I actually tried two new-to-me techniques: crisp brows and cut crease eyeshadow. I drew inspiration from the late 1990s - early 2000s Barbie dolls. I used the blue/pink color combo that actually goes all the way back to the 80s, if I’m not mistaken, and the early 2000s dolls started really rocking that cut crease look.
I actually made quite a few booboos with my makeup since I didn’t watch any tutorials and just assumed I could do it without any practice. I’m editing the video of that soon so you can see how ridiculous I looked! XD
Thoughts Barbie’s not really a character I would cosplay on a hardcore level, but I did enjoy trying to emulate her! Maybe I’ll do an actual Barbie cosplay from one of her numerous movies or even Life in the Dreamhouse, but for now, I’ll stick to watching and enjoying Barbie as a character.
‘Til next entry, Vanessa ❤

#CosplayOfTheMonth: Senator Leia Organa
“Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” Happy Star Wars day, May the 4th be with you! This is my take on R2-D2′s view when Leia recorded that message for Obi-Wan. ❤
Why I chose Leia for this month
It’s totally a coincidence that I chose to cosplay Leia as she appeared in A New Hope, for a time when we need plenty of hope. I’d chosen her because I’ve been meaning to participate in Star Wars Day for the longest time, but kept missing it for some reason!
I made our VHS rewinder work so hard, because I grew up with the VHS boxed set of the original trilogy! If I recall correctly, Leia is the first badass female character I felt connected to. This particular version - the “senator” outfit, as I’ve come to call it - is still one of my dream cosplays, and I hope to do it properly sometime.
About the look
Let’s start with the hair. I have cosplayed Hoth Leia before, and have always used my real hair, so I felt I shouldn’t do it any differently this time around. I did have a little “help” since my hair is still too short to make substantial cinnamon rolls. 😂
I’ve just taken out the styling and counted 10 hairpins, 4 hair ties, and 2 hairbun donuts. My overgrown bangs and baby hairs were beaten into submission with more gel than I have ever used in the last decade, and a fine toothed comb. I was actually chatting with one of my Butterflies, Tony, and I joked that my baby hairs were part of the Rebel Alliance, rising up against the gel. 😅
As for the outfit... did I mention it’s a closet cosplay? Because it’s a closet cosplay. 😂😂😂 My initial plan was to wear the white turtleneck I use for Hoth Leia and use another top with similar fabric as the hood, but it bothered me that the sleeves would be form-fitting at the wrist still. Then I remembered I still had this lace top.
This outfit is in three pieces: plain white cocktail dress, lace bell-sleeved crop top, and a short lace dress. All of them were purchased anywhere between 5-8 years ago, and I never thought they would all go together. The skirt of the short lace dress (which was also my blouse for my Alice cosplay) served as my hood, and was held up by the Force me arching my back ever so slightly so the heavy material of the bodice area wouldn’t drop and pull it off. HAHAHAHA
Thoughts
This is actually my second attempt to shoot this cosplay! I originally only wore a sports bra and the lace crop top plus GYM SHORTS, because I was too lazy to look for this white dress, and thought I could just crop out the shorts... That obviously did not work out well, buuuuuut my makeup did turn out better this time around and I’d already figured out how to make my hair obey me. 🤣
20/10 definitely want to cosplay Leia’s senator outfit for realsies, I’m already figuring out how to sew it. Maybe it will be my next handmade costume!
May the Force be with you!
‘Til next entry, Vanessa ❤
