If I had a penny for every time a cosplayer made a passive comment or gave me a weird look for cosplaying James id have two penny’s. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it’s happened twice right?/ref

I lo key can’t for the life of me remember what year this happened in but i was walking out of a con to go home and someone approached me, assuming i was pidge. when i was in fact NOT pidge (i wear glasses and James’ wig at the time wasn’t even brown it was like grey blonde?? So i do not blame them) the person was nice at first, we had a bit of a convo. I found out they were sh*th shipper (DNI !!) so I was trying to leave the convo quickly. We were discussing Voltron for a bit (the endings, fav characters, ships) and this MF goes

“You’re really cosplaying Keith’s bully? 🤨” YOURE COSPLAYING A CHR THAT KILLS THINGS WHATS WORSE IN THIS SCENARIO???? I WAS JUST TRYING TO ENJOY MY STRAWBERRY POPPING BOBA DRINK AND HEAD HOME PLEASE BRO 😭 IF YOURE GONNA SAS ME U MAY AS WELL SASS LOTOR COSPLAYERS TOO BUT NOO im going to actually explode

In the past two hours I’ve been at this con I’ve had a total of 4 people recognize me. one of them asked for a photo WHICH WAS THE FIRST TIME SOMEONE HAD EVER ASKED FOR A PHOTO WHILE I WAS JAMES BTW?? Milestone REACHED. Another person told me someone’s selling Voltron key chains and I’ve been looking desperately for it but they were so sweet 🙏 however the other two people (they were friends so it wasn’t separate situations) asked me if I was cosplaying James and when I said yes they gave me such a weird look?? Yes both of them I get it you don’t like James but I am not LITERALLY him,, im not some short haired brunette with feelings for a mf with a mullet like PLS?? So don’t treat me as such and let me live. Still gonna cosplay James to cons tho 🫶🏼🫶🏼

This week I went to the mall dressed in my Keith jacket, then when I was going up the escalator when a girl walked past me and shouted "MY GOD KEITH" and I was so happy, like, oh my God, a voltron fan in 2024 ‼️‼️ I wish I had talked to her more! she seems so nice --

Cosplay series NEED to return

I just got reminded of a Voltron cosplay series that existed some time ago and it's got me thinking, why don't they happen anymore?? Like the fact that fans were so passionate that they got a full cast of cosplayers, film crews, editing, and making sets to create a series, all just for fun! It was magical and I despise that it is so so looked down on nowadays because doing something like that is awesome!! I'm a bit stuck in the past, I'm literally posting this on Tumblr, but it was a better time when we embraced our interests and hobbies regardless of what other people thought! We didn't realize what we had until it was already gone🥲
