We can say many things about the latest Sisi adaptations but to be honest I'm glad (most of them) were so open about how inaccurate they were from the very beginning. No one tried to convince us they were super serious biopics.

#i say most and not all because i can't remember if there was ever an interview with directors/screenwriters/actors of die kaiserin #in which they talked about all the liberties they took with history when making the show #but all the others? open about it from day one #dominique saying around the time season 1 dropped that the real elisabeth was super shy and that her portrayal was purposefully not accurat #corsage embracing being an anachronistic fever dream #the director of sisi und ich saying that she wanted to create a new myth #in fact when I went to watch it we had a small introduction of the movie and we were explicitly told it wasn't a biopic #but a fictionalised take on Elisabeth's last years #OTHERS could learn from this
