Signing was hard for Carmella, well, she talked with her hands a lot, but signing was Jamie’s language, it was how she communicated in the world, so Carmella was going to work hard at it.

Of course, Jamie could hear and understand speech just fine, it was only when she needed to ‘speak’ herself that they ran into trouble, but that wasn’t going to stop Carmella.

“Is that too dorky?” Carmella had asked Andy, Andy who had just slightly more experience in the dating department, and then, not by much.

“I think its sweet,” Andy had said, patting her shoulder before snapping an abrupt picture of her that had briefly blinded Carmella and resulted in her attempting to chase down the fleet-footed Praetor.

So here Carmella was, a bundle of nerves, standing in front of Jamie, a year older and taller than Carmella and looking as pretty as a picture in a flowing skirt and jean jacket.

*Will you be my girlfriend?* Her fingers moved with difficulty, but she’d practiced over and over.

Jamie’s eyes positively lit up and her beaming grin split across her face. She took Carmella’s face between her hands and kissed her soundly so Carmella supposed she could take that as a ‘yes’, flushing prettily.
