I know I said finding a description weird enough not to be instantly recognizable would be hard, but I should have known my boy Pliny would come through!

So without further ado, sharpen your quill pens, uncap your oak gall ink,* put on the latest Gregorian chant banger, and imagine you’re a monk who has just been handed this text to illustrate:

“A wild beast of extraordinary swiftness, the size of the wild ass, with the legs of a stag, the neck, tail, and breast of a lion, the head of a badger, a cloven hoof, the mouth slit up as far as the ears…”

*obviously 99.99% of you are not going to have these materials on hand in isolation, but it’s cool knowledge anyway. Though I can tell you from personal experience quill pens are 0/10, not recommended for left-handed individuals.
