Sweet as honey with an extra side of sass and spice when she feels pushed to her limits. For the most part, anyone that knows Cordelia knows she’s incredibly sweet, easy to get along with, and always looking to make friends wherever she goes. Cordelia enjoys being apart of a group, despite what some might think, she’s not always looking to be the center of attention. Some might say she’s a hopeless romantic, finding beauty in the smallest things, and she does but she’s definitely guarded her heart a lot more as of recently due to family issues and heartbreak.

Born and bred in the little town of Merrock you’ll find history of the Browning’s going back since the town was first founded. All the stories you’ve heard about living in a small town, well, those were the foundation of who Cordelia was as a person. From the moment that the petite blonde could walk, she was wrapped up in the small town life. Spending time growing a thick group of friends, being the center of attention, the captain of the cheerleading team, and eventually, catching the eye of the handsome boy in school. The moment she could form sentences Cordelia was waiting for that promised summertime wedding surrounded by bluebells and lilies. Finding love that consumed you like the stories she was told in fairy tales. That kind of love that people traveled the world for, that moved mountains for. The connection you found when you found your soulmate. Only Cordelia had a lot of soulmates, or so she thought. Expecting to find love in the small town just like generations of Browning’s had done. Much like her ancestors, her siblings were lucky in love in the family traditions, finding their future spouses in high school, marrying in the early years of their twenties, and starting to pop out little nieces and nephews. It lead to those awkward conversations of when she was going to start settling down before she was to the ripe age of twenty-two.

Despite getting top grades in school, college wasn’t in the cards for Cordelia, as much as she wanted it. University meant money, and while the Browning name had been part of Merrock since the beginning, they were a family of conservative money. They were that family where the outer appearance and vision they gave people mattered more than putting into their children’s education. They did their best to put the oldest through college but for them it was all about having the right cars, the right house, the right clothes — and heaven forbid if your purse and shoes weren’t the most updated style. It became apparently the closer graduation got, and the more they leaned into Cordelia about marriage to Cage, that college wasn’t on the horizon for her. Following in her family foot-steps wouldn’t be too bad, marrying the love of her life, only that was when he decided it was time for him to up and make a change. His graduation lead to his freedom, and her down spiral into a catastrophic depression that drove her mother crazy. While she was barely making it through classes and practices, plastering on a smile that was expected for a Browning, her mother was attempting to introduce her to fellow ‘eligible bachelors’ from high school that she had known her whole life to fresh meet in town at the local community college. 

Graduation came and went, and it was apparent college was not going to be a priority for Cordelia from her parents, and she was too smart to realize that she couldn’t afford the massive amounts of loans she’d have to take out to get a degree. Life became working meaningless part-time jobs, scraping together enough money to rent a cheap rundown apartment over the local mechanic garage with a slumlord that barely kept the apartment in live-able shape. A slew of bad jobs, even worse men, and no white picket fence followed in Cordelia’s wake. While working at the local diner late one night in walked Nathaniel, he was charming, a smooth-talker, and she was head over heels for the man in a matter of no time. An older business man, Cordelia finally thought life was about to pan out. That all these years of waiting and secretly hoping she’d still get that June wedding, she had found her prince. Unbeknownst to the blonde, she had started an affair with a married man from a few towns over, and well, news traveled fast in a small town. Already on the fast track to being disgraced by her family, she was now all but shunned, aside from her older brother. Falling pregnant from the illicit affair was worse, the stares she gathered, having few people to fall back on, and no money? Not to mention the moment she told him she was pregnant, he was gone, never to be heard from again.

An older business man, Cordelia finally thought life was about to pan out. That all these years of waiting and secretly hoping she’d still get that June wedding, she had found her prince. Unbeknownst to the woman, she had started an affair with a married man from a few towns over, and well, news traveled fast. Disgraced by her family, she was all but shunned, aside from her older brother. Falling pregnant from the illicit affair was worse, the stares she gathered, having few people to fall back on, and no money? Not to mention the moment she told him she was pregnant, he was gone. Still living in that very rundown second floor apartment over the laundry mat lives Cordelia and her eight month old daughter Rosalyn. Now her days are spent working at the diner, filling in part-time at the local dentist office as a receptionist, and getting by on food stamps, much to her families horror and shame.
