Tangled Tales and Unravelling Hearts..

Regina Mills x Reader..

(Reader is referd to primarily as 'y/n' and she)

Regina Mills, the former Evil Queen, had been through a lot in her life. She'd fought her darker self, lost her true love twice, and was struggling to come to terms with who she was. But nothing could have prepared her for the day she met a girl from the Land of Untold Stories.

After a particularly uncomfortable encounter with her evil half witch she had split from herself to try to be rid of all the darkness behind her. Unfortunately she had found that this only made the darkness harder to manage in both a mental and literal sense. The weight of her past was hard to manage on her own yet that was just what she thought would cause the least problems.. Seeing as everyone around her had bigger problems that she had unintentionally caused for them..

Regina decided to take a walk through the woods to clear her head and during her walk she heard a girl scream. Sence regina was one of the hero's now clearly she ran to help. Soon enough she found a girl stuck up in a very tall tree that looked impossible to climb. Regina couldn't help but fight back laughter at such a scene. "What are you doing up there?" Regina called up to her. "Ask your evil double." The girl responded. And regina's laughter faded..

"Hold on let me see if I can get you down" regina said as she used her magic to poof the girl down in a cloud of smoke. Once the girl was safely on the ground regina was finally able to get a good look at her. Her features were striking and somehow.. Recognizable..

"Have.. Have we met before?" Regina asked her, to which the girl shook her head. "No.. We've exchanged glances one in a crowded room.. In wonderland.. Back when you were still the evil Queen" the girl said, regina sighed. "I'm sorry for any greef the evil Queen might have caused you" Regina said awkwardly. To which the girl chuckled. "Oh no need to apologize there.."

"You know I have to say that the 'evil Queen' isn't exactly what you would call creative, I mean.. Putting a cat up in a tree is the best she could come up with" the girl mused. This comment put Regina off.. "I'm sorry, who.." Regina started to ask before the girl cut her off. "Y/n, Y/n Cheshire." She said. ".. Cheshire?" Regina questioned. The girl sighed "yes. I'm the daughter of the Cheshire Cat" the girl said.

Regina was taken aback by this.. She had heard many stories about the shifty Cheshire Cat and none of them were incredibly positive.. "I know what you're thinking. I know my fathers reputation doesn't exactly.. Paint him in a good light if you know what I mean, but.. I've got to say your mother.. Or well the queen of hearts.. If you will, definitely played a factor in that. Rigina was shocked by that statement but.. Looking into y/ns piercing eyes.. She saw a lifetime of pain

After a moment of prolonged silence the girl spoke "I come from the Land of Untold Stories. Btw.. You know.. I was particularly found of Hyde..shame he had to meet such an untimely demise" Y/n said, Regina frowned, becoming slightly wary of this girl. "..What.. Did my mother do to you..?" Regina asked, unsure if she was ready for her response upon just seeing her mother enter heaven not too long ago.. After a pause the girl spoke..

"My mother.. Died and.. Even if it wasn't directly caused by your mother.. She.. Definitely played a factor in it.. She corrupted my father.. He.. Used to be a good person.. Until she came around.. Took our kingdom.. And destroyed our family.. I.. Fled to the land of untold stories to escape my father." The girl said..

Regina's heart ached for her.. Yet she still knew she should be cautious given her heritage and a possible thirst for revenge for what Cora did to her. "I am sorry, truly for what my mother did.." Regina offered. "Tell me.. Does it really surprise you all that much that she would do this?" Y/n asked..

(Time skip)

Regina found herself spending more time with y/n, she couldn't help but feel drawn to her pain and her strength, regina found herself admiring this girl for having the strength to fight off the darkness like she never did..

Y/n offers to help aid Regina in her fight against the evil version of herself and throughout that Regina found herself becoming more and more protective of her, Regina told herself it was because she sympathized with her over pain caused by her mother seeing as she too had experienced such pain..

One day there was a particularly difficult battle with the evil queen.. And the son of Belle and Rumpelstiltskin in the cemetery. And rigina found herself alone during the majority of that fight seeing as Emma got knocked out. The evil Queen had gotten a piece of the sword that can hurt one double without harming the other and attempted to use it on Regina, as luck would have it tho y/n rushed in just in time.. However the evil Queen did stab the shard of class into y/ns side but thankfully it wasn't enough to cause substantial damage.. But despite this Regina still found herself breaking at just the thought of losing her like she did with robin.. Regina realized that her feelings for this girl might run deeper other than just caring for her but before this point Regina couldn't bring herself to acknowledge her feelings.. But this moment all the uncertainty in these feelings fell away as regina was left teary eyed and speechless..

Eventually however, good as it always does, won over evil and the evil Queen was no more.. However despite this Regina still found herself battling with the darkness inside of her.. And before.. She was fine faceing that battle alone. But now she couldn't fight the urge to turn to y/n.

"I can't fight this darkness alone anymore, Y/n. I need your help.." Regina said fighting the feeling of wanting to break down.. Y/n hesitated, before placing her hand on Regina's cheek, her piercing yet kind eyes shone with so much love and care, that rigina never thought she'd know.. "You don't always need to be the strong one you know.. Sometimes you need someone to lean on when your weak and I'll gladly be that person.." Y/n said, Reiginas tears fell at this.. "You'd do that for me?" Regina asked.. "For the person I love enough to rip my own heart out for.. I'd do anything" y/n said..

Baghra & Alina: An obvious one? Perhaps. But still one of my favorite dynamics in the Grishaverse tbh. Baghra is like the mean grandma Alina never asked for and Alina is the petulant grandchild Baghra definitely never wanted. And they're so personal to me.

Baghra & Julia: Julia's an annoyingly talented overachiever in every verse, maybe especially including her Grisha verse, where she became both a Healer AND Heartrender simply because it was possible. I could see this possibly earning some grudging respect from Baghra while also earning some of her irritation.

Cora Mills & Rufio: I don't know how and I don't know why but they do technically share a canon universe. The timelines might not match up until they're both in Storybrooke, though.

Cora Mills & Hatter: Given her history with Mad Hatters and his history with Evil Queens, I just think they might be neat. He does have a OUAT AU where he was caught up in Regina's Curse.

Circe & Callisto: I mean. They're two powerful, chaotic ladies—what's not to like?

Regina is absolutely vain when it comes to her appearance and how she sees herself on every level. She doesn't feel that anything needs improving and that everything is just perfectly right about herself.

🍏  :    how stable is my muse’s physical health?  do they go for regular or semi-regular checkups by a physician?  do they have any diagnosed illnesses and / or take any medication?  how often do they get sick?

Regina's health is stable. She has no illnesses that she needs medication for. She has gone for check-ups when she needs them. Apart from the occasional bout of seasonal flu or a stomach virus that Henry has brought home, she's perfectly healthy.

Regina spends too much time on her physical appearance making sure that everything is in the right place and looks perfect. She's vain. Too vain. All anyone has to do is look at her and see that for themselves.

Spring. Because with the end of it, she will have apples on her apple tree.

🍊  :    does my muse desire romance?  is it something they would actively seek out,  or prefer to happen more  ‘  naturally?  ’  what is their love life like?  do they have any exes or past flings,  or crushes?

Regina does desire romance. She wants to be wooed and pursued by a suitor. She would prefer it happen naturally, but she's not above helping it along if she needs to. Regina's past love life is complicated all thanks to Cora Mills. So she would rather not think about that.

The only habit or interest that she has is baking all the apple things that she can bake/cook. I guess to some that would be unusual, but to her, it feels natural. And she's absolutely proud of her apple made goodies.

Regina tries to eat healthy meals. She does eat regularly and prefers to have sit down meals in order to do it. She's not a fan of fast food, but she will partake once in a while as pure indulgence. She doesn't need to be reminded to eat unless her heart is broken or she's upset. She prefers to cook. Probably because she's used food to harm others in the past that she's afraid that the same will be done to her.

Believe me, I haven't slept since you mentioned your new fic idea for the first time! I'm so stoked for On the House!! Pleeeeease, give me a snippet. 😍😍

For your sake, I hope you're exaggerating as much as I am about not sleeping. But thank you for the enthusiasm!

She showed him the two suites reserved for the "ladies" of the house. One was furnished in mint green, the other in lavender, every surface decorated and gilded. Each room opened into a sitting room that subtly led into a sumptuous bedchamber. 

Her daughters were out for the evening, Cora said. They were expected to return at any moment, with whatever companions they had attracted at the various parties and events they’d attended that night. Gold wondered how the ladies chose which of their new friends would be brought up to these inner sanctums, and which would be left downstairs in the parlor, for lesser girls to bring up to the rainbow of bedrooms on the second story. Of course, the house would profit either way. 

“My bedchamber is the smallest of the three, as it sees the least activity.”

Gold spared a thought for Henry Mills. Did the man ever sample the merchandise that was bought and sold in his own home? His devotion to Cora knew no bounds, Gold knew that well.  But was he permitted his own indiscretions? Or did he want nothing more than to constantly forgive hers? 

In the midst of his musings, Gold noticed a door at the end of the hallway. A single door, smaller than any others in the house. It seemed to be the first room that Cora didn’t want to show off.

“What’s down there?”

“Oh, that’s just where we keep things we don’t need.” She waved her hand as though swatting at a fly. “Come, let me show you my study.”
