(AskTauros)Copper@Zlato: the young bull cautiously approaches but still hesitates and stands at a distance. “…hi.. I’m… Copper.. uhm..” the bull looks at the mewtwo and then they look around. “.. I’ve never seen… something… like you.. Are you.. the only one.. that looks like you?.. Any.. siblings? Where’s.. your mama? Your dada? Your-“ they stop suddenly and duck their head nervously. “S-sorry.. I’m being n-nosey..”

So about a year ago, I started this Mewtwo style study, drawing some of the babytwos from members of the amazing commewnity, as well as some other characters from artists I greatly enjoy. Kappa, as a kangaskhan fusion, has natural motherly instincts and attracts children.
I tried to keep the proportions and shapes as accurate as possible to study as many designs and details as possible.
Featuring in approximately left to right order:
Pigment from @xxtc-96xx
Marshmallow from @polteashop
Copper from @absolutedream-art
Nana from @dxzziie
Momo from @loupy-mongoose
Chilli from @penumbramewtwos
Twotwo from @whatifmw
Blu from @mewtwoandme
Dot from @oddestoddish
Novus from @mew-dump
Oddy from @phlurrii
Red from @pokemon-ash-aus

Just like last time, my thoughts for Pokemon Legends are immediately subsumed by potential futures rather than the immediate present
This time it's because the title is "Z-A", confirming that the titles are not directly named after the associated Legendary while also giving the impression that unused titles like Z are being revisited. Since that won't be applicable to every generation, though, they may also draw from concepts, places, times, people, etc.
With that in mind
Gen 1: Legends Rainbow - the player is a Rocket Scientist (not a literal one, but one that works for a not-yet-totally-evil Team Rocket) working in the Pokemon Mansion and the project to clone Mew; the first major story beat after the tutorial is the discovery of a Mew sample, with the rest being further research and gathering materials needed for the cloning process/raising process for Mewtwo; named Rainbow in reference to being a part of the color generation and as a nod to Team Rocket's eventual evolution into Team Rainbow Rocket
Gen 2: Legends Brass - focuses on the Brass Tower and the events leading up to the creation of the Beast Trio; possibly the only game that doesn't somehow involve the player being part of a to-be villainous team; may introduce a new "Brass" or "Copper Legendary" to complement Ho-Oh and Lugia's Gold and Silver
Gen 3: Legends Meteor - the player chooses between being on the Magma or Aqua research team and investigates the ecological effects of a recently fallen meteor that, unbeknownst to anyone, carries Deoxys; may also be fun to call it "Legends Peridot," as generation 3 was the gem generation and peridot are found in meteors
Gen 5: Legends Grey - the player is a Plasma Knight under the Twin Heroes; halfway through the game, the Heroes have a falling out that splits the Original Dragon, and the player must choose who to side with (though they will likely end up seeing the other half of the story later cus the idea will be to understand both sides)
Gen 7: Legends Stars - the player begins as a resident of Ultra Megalopolis and member of the Ultra Recon Squad, with Poipole and two other Ultra Beasts as their possible starters, exploring Ultra Space. At the midpoint of the game, the player goes on a recon mission to Alola, where they capture a new "starter" to help blend in
Gen 8: Legends Darkness - leads up to the events of the Darkest Day; rather than being a part of an equivalent to Team Yell, the player is part of the group that one day becomes the Macro Cosmos conglomerate; could also be called "Legends Armor" or "Legends Arrow" or something to that effect if they want to complete the Hero Trio with a "Zayellow"
Gen 9: Legends Zero - covers the events of the Area Zero expedition with Heath and has the player being flung between the past and future, possibly getting branched evolutions for their starter based on which time period they evolve in

Silver: THEN HOW DO THE BIRDS SIT ON IT?! Olive: BIRD MAGIC!! Copper:...I don’t.... think birds are... magical.... Silver: HAH! Olive: WELL... WELL YOURE WRONG! I WAS TOLD IF I TOUCH IT I’LL DIE! Silver: THEN UR A DUMMY! The two children begin to yell back and forth to one another, Copper stayed out of it and just stared up at the sky peacefully. Tucker walks up to his side of the fence nearest Zlato and looks up at the mewtwo Tucker: Um... The fence wont... KILL you... but it hurts a lot.. So I guess thinkin’ it’ll kill you... will just prevent from touching it?  The tauros shuffles his feet nervously, avoiding eye contact with the mewtwo towering over him Tucker: I’ve... never actually met the Ranch owners... I’ve HEARD them and stuff but... Never seen them... I don’t think any of us have... Tucker: We mostly deal with dogs... The owners don’t seem to have the time to deal with us kids.. Tucker: I saw one once... they were taking a daddy tauros into a special fence area... there was a lot of peoples there... wearing funny hats! It was weird...  - - - - - - - -  [ @askobliviatwo ]

Drunk wasps, wild turkeys and pokemon cakes. You live an interesting life.
mmm, bear with me here-
I've taken art classes since I was a kid, like traditional art training since the age of like, five. Mostly from the same guy, he was also my AP art teacher in highschool. But for a lot of that time my art was very... bland, flat. I was taught to draw what I saw, in a very literal sense, he wouldn't even allow us to take a picture of our subject matter to work on outside of class hours (mind you, there were no cell phone cameras then we were working off digital cameras mostly but that's beside the point). So, much of my art was also literal, leaves were greens, brick was red, water was blue. My art wasn't great, and I couldn't quite figure out why.
I also took art classes in college, whole different teacher, he admitted my technical skill was there, but I wasn't pushing things at all, and I really still didn't 'get' it. I eventually got to an oil painting class, and again my technical skill was there, but it fell flat.
Until one assignment. He set up a still life, basic, I couldn't tell you how many damn still lifes I've done, but this one was only in greys. Every single item was a flat shade of grey, and our assignment was 'paint in color'. It took me a bit, to see it, and I won't say that I got it immediately right then, but it started to click. Literally, those vases and boxes were grey, and that wasn't the point, the point was choosing to see the colors in that. There's the golds of the sun through dirty skylights, the copper bouncing up from the cheap flooring, the blue shining from the jacket of the kid falling asleep in the front row. Once you think to look for it, you can see the bouncelights and colors, there's a rainbow in even a white wall, I would know, I painted one.
My point is, life is bland, painfully so, or worse, its stressful, painful. One can see things literally, in dull shades, that tree in the yard invites bugs, living near the metroparks means local forest wildlife, a lot of my 'art' nowadays is done in buttercream, and everything is... boring.
Or, you can find the color in the little things, like the ridiculousness of the fact that apparently local herds of deer like to get drunk off fermenting ornamental pears in our front yard, or the comedy of trying to find a way to explain what the hell Mewtwo is to a coworker that's never played pokemon.
I write and present things the way I do because, I choose to see the colors in mundane things. It doesn't make living less painful, but it can make it easier to bear.

My nostalgic Pokémon fandom journey continues. I remembered recently a group of OCs I made back in 1998-9 shortly after seeing ‘Pokémon: The First Movie’ and decided to revisit them, so spent yesterday evening doodling them. The first being Aliana Fletcher. I remember her look (her hairstyle anyway) was inspired by the character Kara from the movie ‘Dragonheart’. I remember I made her a psychic (though not a powerful one), and a Pokémon researcher whose biggest dream would be to study the legendary Mew. I recall in the old fic I had planned she and her friends (Lucinda and Rhys) run afoul of Team Rocket and end up teaming up with Mewtwo (because he’s always been my favourite, so of course he would feature in any Pokémon fic I would have written).
I also found the old character profile I’d made for her (and the other two characters as well) Yes, she’s probably a bit ‘Mary-Sue-ish’ but I don’t care, I am cringe but I am free! ...
... I had edited it all a little in subsequent years to take into account different things that had happened in the canon anime series. Originally, the story was going to be set around the events of the first movie, an AU where Mewtwo actually succeeded in world domination and what became of humans and Pokémon after that, with Aliana and her friends as the central protagonists.
I then changed that idea to a ‘what if’ scenario of ‘What if, while Mewtwo was being trained by Giovanni (before he decided to go it alone) and the events of the first movie took place, he comes into contact with Aliana and her friends at Giovanni’s base and they help him realise that Giovanni is not to be trusted, but that not all humans are terrible.’
The final change to the story idea came after ‘Mewtwo Returns’ was released, and I had another ‘what if’ idea. What if Ash and the others hadn’t been around, or had made it to the bus on time and Mewtwo and his clones had ended up captured by Giovanni after all? This idea involved Aliana and her friends actually being (disillusioned) members of Team Rocket, and when they discover how badly Giovanni is treating the Pokémon, they decide to stage a heist to free Mewtwo and his cloned Pokémon friends. It’s never actually been written, but I loved the characters I’d made for it as a kid and teen, and still have a soft spot for them now.
Aliana’s profile:
-
Aliana Fletcher
Nicknames:   Ali, Ana, Li
Birthday:    22nd April  (she was originally going to be about 16-18, but as time went on, I decided that she and her friends should probably be in their twenties).
Height:    5'8" (173cm)
Weight:    122 lbs. (55 kg)
Eyes:    Lilac/blue
Hair:    Copper in colour, to mid back in length, and naturally curly
Skin Tone:    Pale
History:
Aliana was born in Greenfield. When she was just under a year old her parents and she moved to a small village located near the ocean in Kanto. The move was so that her father could commute more easily to his new job with a company based in Viridian City. Her mother continued her work as an artist and freelance Pokémon researcher, often sharing her findings with the likes of Professor Oak of Pallet Town, and occasionally with her husband’s employers in Viridian.
At a young age it became apparent that Aliana was good with Pokémon and could often guess their needs from an emotional standpoint. Pokémon that were injured or in trouble would instinctively seek her out and Aliana spent many an hour looking after waifs and strays as a youngster. As such, her father suggested she would someday make a good Pokémon trainer or an assistant in a Pokémon Centre.
Aliana had never liked the idea of becoming a Pokémon trainer however, preferring to observe and study Pokémon like her mother, rather than catch them and battle them.
The reason that Pokémon seemed drawn to Aliana became evident when she was found to have some psychic abilities at seven years old. This trait was passed down to her via her maternal grandfather. When she was aged ten her parents decided it would be a good idea for Aliana to visit her grandfather so that he could help hone and control her abilities. He was also an adept healer and knew several different arts that Aliana's parents felt may be useful or enjoyable for their daughter to learn.
Having no goals in the way of Pokémon training, Aliana eagerly agreed and moved away to Ecruteak City to stay with her grandfather at his shrine.
Aliana enjoyed her time there. Learning archery, how to better harness her psychic powers, heal Pokémon more efficiently, and was also taught self-defence by a friend of her grandfather who ran the local dojo. In her spare time Aliana helped with shrine chores and read her mother's old notes on Pokémon research. She became fascinated with several theories pertaining to Pokémon species, especially ghost and psychic types, and added to these notes herself after extensive observations of the native Pokémon.
At the age of eighteen she was approached by a company who wished for her to join their research team. Apparently they had heard of her promising theorems and enthusiastic attitude and offered her a comfortable job in scientific Pokémon research. Aliana was keen to follow in her mother’s footsteps and so readily joined them. However, this proved to be a big mistake on Aliana's part. The company was a front for none other than Team Rocket. Once Aliana had joined there was no way of safely leaving the criminal organisation. And once management heard of her compassion toward test subjects and her unwillingness to harm them for science, they demoted her.
Aliana made friends in the nefarious organisation over the years, but would like nothing better than to leave. The opportunity for this arrives one morning when her friend Lucinda tells her of a recently re-captured experiment that Giovanni is having trouble getting to co-operate...
Special Skills:   Aliana is a good healer and researcher of Pokémon. She also knows a good amount of self-defence and has begun learning some parkour from her friend Rhys. Aliana’s psychic abilities aren’t particularly powerful. She can read auras with some concentration, has some limited telekinetic ability, and can at times have precognitive dreams. The honing of her psychic skills were aided first by her grandfather, and now slightly reluctantly, by Mewtwo.
Weaponry/Special Items:   Competent use of the longbow. Aliana owns a necklace with an amethyst gem. She was given it by her grandfather on her sixteenth birthday. She often fiddles with the gem when nervous or thinking. Mewtwo later imbues some of his own power into the necklace so Aliana can use it as an amplifier for her own limited powers. As the necklace contains a little of his own power, Mewtwo can use the necklace as a psychic link or even as a tracking device of sorts, as a means to find Aliana and her friends. Whether Aliana is aware of this or not is unclear.
Friends:   Lucinda Roberts, Rhys Sanderson, Mewtwo, the cloned Pokémon Mewtwo created, Jessie, James, and Meowth.
Little known fact(s):   Aliana is extremely scared of enclosed spaces.
Pokémon:   None. Though Pokémon are often drawn to her and generally friendly with her.

Finally read through @.absolutedream-art's pokemon fan-comic: Dart and Copper. I know little about pokemon, Mewtwo, and whatnot, but I found the story to be sweet, sad, funny, and wholesome. 😊
I read it on a whim during a cloudy afternoon. Best read I've done in a while.

@distortionmewtwo The Mewtwo caught Ultraviolet's attention immediately. Another..? Were they alive? The invisible Two quietly left the mittens' side, approaching Copper to get a better sense of the unconscious mega's life force.
[Written answer this time! Under the cut.]
The baby Mewtwo was, in fact, breathing. Copper was explaining the situation and the condition in which she’d found the kit to Lucid, who was getting more upset with each word.
“Those humans… they did what?! Why would they take MY DNA and create THEM?! It’s unnatural, I can’t- why would they do that?!”
Lucid seemed both utterly disgusted and shocked.
“I- I’m going to kill them. I’m going to kill those humans for what they did to this poor thing. I’m going to-“
“Wait!! You can’t upset the balance! And besides, what if they caught you?! You have mittens to take care of now!”
They paused, eyes fixed on Copper, before they broke down in tears.
“Y-you’d think, after years of trying to harness our power, they’d learn. This poor kit was going to be raised as a weapon. How could they do that?”
“I don’t know, Lulu… it’s so horrible… this poor kit…”
“…I’ll… I’ll take care of them. I’ll raise them as if they’re my own.”
Surprised, Copper blinks.
“But-“
“No buts. This is my mitten now…”
