i always see people say that adult akilah should be a doctor / open her own medical practice / etc. but as much as she is one of the few people who have any kind of experience (which is vague as it is, really just first aid she learned in the girl scouts), i think it's more likely that she works with animals. maybe a vet, but more specifically some animal rescue of some sort. maybe working at an animal shelter but probably eventually a wildlife rehabilitator.

being a vet was the dream as a kid, because she loves working with and taking care of and learning about animals, but after the wilderness, the idea of caring for the animals that she tried to (but ultimately couldn't, sorry nugget i know you are not surviving much longer), hits a lot closer to home and it's a way to take her experience in the wilderness and do something productive with it.
