what i like especially about the pronouns in the goblin emperor is that this language doesn't just have the T-V distinction (aka informal vs. formal second-person pronouns, in this case 'thou' vs. 'you'), it also has informal and formal first-person pronouns. having BOTH of these distinctions in the same language lets you fine-tune your tone by mixing and matching. with only one axis of formality, when you use informal pronouns, are you being familiar in an intimate way, or in an insolent or dismissive way? when you use formal pronouns, are you being polite or standoffish? you can't tell just from the pronouns; there's ambiguity. but a language where you can use a formal first-person pronoun in the same sentence as an informal second-person pronoun allows you to distance yourself (via the formal first) while also being familiar (via the informal second), thereby achieving the conversational tenor known to linguists as Fuck Thee Specifically.

Idk if this counts as a new character but I’ve decided to repurpose my little guy Max into a new story which has necessarily lead to a lot of changes. I expect them to be at least somewhat unrecognisable once I actually get down to writing more for this specific story :)

They have cutiemark things too!! Starscream has a star, Skywarp has a cloud, and Thundercracker has a lightning bolt!!

I also made them little holiday costumes and a second Screamer where he has a crown!

I'm really really proud of them!! I've been hanging out around the gravity falls section as Skywarp because my friends like to go as Bill and Ford!!!

Also the campsite as Starscream when all the bubbles get to be a bit too much.

Chapter 4 predictions?

honestly i have NO idea. ch4 is in what i like to call the thursday of the story – the part where all of the major players have been introduced but where we're still not quite at the height of the action yet. ch1&2 have set up our status quo, ch3 will likely kick the conflict regarding said status quo into full gear, and that leaves ch4 to be in a sort of odd place of rising tension before ch5 comes and that tension finally begins to snap. this is why i think ch3 will have a break in the established formula and be 100% tv world focused, while ch4 may briefly return to the light world intro > dark world gameplay > light world outro formula before it is done away with entirely in favor of the dark world taking center stage.

i don't think ch4 will be a full light world chapter (w/ some castle town on the side given the sweepstakes) at all, regardless, because 1. the light world does not have much in the way of gameplay and is extremely limited in your options for exploring/talking to people and 2. you cannot save your game in the light world, which would mean you would have to be stuck at your computer or game system until you got a moment to wander freely and head to castle town. i guess this could kind of be a metaphor for the archetypical player's neglect to consider any misery they cause kris or the other characters when prioritizing their undertale nostalgia (ie. sealing the fountains fast to see what the undertale characters are up to;) but it seems like it'd just be a poor way to execute that when there are other, far clearer ways to communicate that idea like the way the game uses the aformentioned fountain sealing idea. the dark world being the focus doesn't just make sense from the standpoint of it being a focus for the dehumanized characters or a focus for the characters who are going to get merch&therefore be the faces of the game, it's also mechanically the way to go. forcing someone to have one save point they have to trek back to over and over for a good four to five hours of gameplay isn't even something the undertale no mercy route does – you've got your save points there.

I should add poledancing to the list of odd talents that Akira has but has no business having due to growing up in a small suburban town. I only had access to it bc i had a YMCA that had a MASSIVE gym (in a criminally underfunded part of the city); there were poles put up alongside some other structures to allow counselors to make up some shit for us to do lmao

Hes got a flair about him; speaking from experience, it is FUN to do gymnastic shit like that, and its really really REALLY good for ur core. Other things on the list are basic gymnastics (he hates that shit tho, the classes he took sucked ass), Parkour (loves this; less about running and more about utilizing ur core and bracing for falls), and Knife Flipping/Spinning. Theyre all odd things that coincidentally ended up being VERY good experience for the metaverse :) YEAH the metaverse makes it easier to pull off tricks, but he already knew how to do all those things; you cant get Ryuji or Yusuke to spin kick off a pole wo having them fall and bust their ass- Its ALL skill babey
