A boy and his Elf looking outside and wishing for snow at 6:50 in the morning...in 53° weather...in Central Texas. More than anything, Nate wants it to snow for Christmas - and Bernie misses making snowmen and having snowball fights. I tell you what, I resisted the Elf on the Shelf thing for ages and I finally caved when Nate begged me for one this year. I'm glad I did because Nate REALLY loves his Elf, Berninnie (Bernie), and it brings such a spirit of anticipation to Nate that is precious to behold. He was having a conversation with Bernie this morning and was "answering" for Bernie. Nate: Bernie, do you think it will snow for Christmas? "Bernie": I think so. I miss the snow. Nate: I do too. (Mind you, he saw snow once, 3 years ago, and wouldn't remember that.) I hope I get lots of presents this year. I want at least 12. "Bernie": You have to be really good to get a lot of presents. Nate: I know, I know. I'm trying. Do you think Santa will bring me presents? "Bernie": Yes, I do. Nate: Mommy! Did you hear Bernie?! Me: Nate, buddy, you know Bernie isn't allowed to talk to you. Nate: I know. But I'm talking FOR him! My little man's imagination knows no bounds. LOL!
