🌷 Interest Check Results!

Thank you for over 450+ responses to our interest check—you've taken the legal world by storm! We'll be moving forward with a physical zine and merch for this project and applications open tomorrow, April 5th!

Take a closer look at the evidence!

The majority of people who responded were interested in buying the project, followed by contributing as a page artist!

The majority of responders were very excited about this project (and so are we)!!

This will be a for-charity project! We'll be announcing our chosen charity at a later date!

The majority of responders were interested in both a physical and digital release, so we'll be having both! Our physical book will be B5!

We had a lot of interest in physical merch! The top five items people were interested in were charms, prints, sticker sheets, enamel pins, and die-cut stickers!

We're thrilled that so many people are excited to bring this project to life with us and celebrate all the incredible women of Ace Attorney!

Our contributors voted on a new name for the project and chose Colours of the Gate! Our carrd and social media have been updated to reflect the new name and aesthetic we’re moving forward with. 

We are also excited to announce we will be reopening contributor applications tomorrow. They will be open from June 7th until June 21st.

hello! just asking what the responsibilities of a mod would be, and could someone be both contributor and mod?

Mods will be able to create a piece if they wish to, however they won’t get any first picks for topics and are not obligated to make a piece for the zine.

Art mods will follow up with the artists and make sure all the pieces are finished in time and such. Writing mods will do the same with writers, however they’ll also be doing spell checks, so I’ll have one or two more of those since their workload is a bit heavier. As for general mods, they’ll be helping me out on the logistics side of things, such as announcements and making sure people are acting respectfully in the discord. Unfortunately I’m busy with uni and can’t do all the general stuff on my own 😭

I’ve scheduled the applications to post at 7:30 AM Eastern time tomorrow (Nov. 12th). I will still be in a class at that point, but I’d like to not waste too much of the day since I know timezones are annoying and I said I was releasing it on the 12th. I’ll be available to answer questions a few hours later, the time will depend on how long my lecture lasts :,)

An appeals court restored the New York Voting Rights Act (NYVRA) today, which expands voter protections, overturning a lower court's decision to strike it down. Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said the decision "only reaffirms the protections intended in the NYVRA."

Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Scott Perry (R-Pa.) introduced a bill in the House of Representatives to repeal the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), a crucial law expanding access to voting.

The NVRA, often known as the Motor Voter Act, requires a driver’s license application to simultaneously serve as a voter registration application. It also requires programs offering public assistance to provide voter registration services, mandates that states use a federal mail-in voting registration form and more.

Hearings coming up tomorrow

A Virginia court will hold a hearing in a lawsuit challenging Gov. Glenn Youngkin's (R) voter purge program. Pro-voting groups assert the program wrongfully removed eligible voters shortly before the elections. The Justice Department — now under Trump — dropped its lawsuit challenging the program.

A Utah court will hear a challenge to the state's congressional map. Voters argue that the map is a partisan gerrymander that favors Republicans, violating the state constitution.

The latest on Democratic officials’ lawsuit challenging Trump’s funding freeze

Democratic officials in 22 states and Washington, D.C. sued the Trump administration Tuesday challenging the federal funding freeze, asking the judge for a temporary restraining order, which would pause the freeze while litigation is ongoing.

Yesterday, the administration rescinded the memo that announced the freeze of federal programs and grants. Shortly after, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted a contradictory statement on X, explaining that the funding freeze had not been rescinded, only the memo itself had been.

A federal judge in Rhode Island asked the Democratic officials to submit a proposed order for the specific relief they sought in the wake of the rescinded memo. He gave the DOJ 24 hours to respond to the proposed order, which was submitted at 6:15 p.m. last night. As of 5 p.m. today, the Justice Department hasn’t responded.

Santa Clara County, California officials sued the Trump administration today challenging his executive order purporting to end birthright citizenship. This marks the eighth lawsuit filed against this order.

24 Hours Left to Apply as a Mod!

Mod applications are open until roughly midnight PST tomorrow, after which we will reach out to all applicants.

Before we close applications for mods, we just want to say that the fact that anyone is willing to generously offer time and energy to make this project happen -- a project which arose from a silly play on words -- is nothing short of miraculous. The two of us are blown away and really appreciate it.

So if you applied to be a mod and you haven't heard from us by March 13th, and we haven't said anything here on the blog, please nudge us via email or ask.

After we've selected our mod(s), we'll make announcements for them too, and then we will be working to prep everything for the contributor applications. Until then...

Look, we're really excited about this, which means we must spread the excitement to everyone!

Tomorrow (March 10th) Mod Applications open! We have a new section in our carrd that gives you everything you need to know about the application process, and a beautifully organized list that specifically talks about Mod Applications- check it out!

Once again, the Mod Applications will be open for a week- from March 10 to March 17.

After we have gotten the Mods set up, we'll send out the link for contributor applications on April 1, and they will be open all month until May 1. Trust me, it will come sooner than you think (especially if you feel like blackmailing Blendin Blandin for his time tape)!

Thank you so much for 134 replies! We're pleased to announce that we will be proceeding with our current vision for the zine.

Tea related things were popular choices for the limited edition item. Stickers, pins, and prints were popular physical merch items. Suggestions from the IC included a wax seal, standee, and letter opener! Your charity suggestions will be shortlisted for contributors to vote on.

Apps will be opening TOMORROW - prepare by checking out our guidelines and application details.
