you know this rant is coming but this post makes me so crazy because I use enjoy a lot but I DON'T use it or anything else specific when I mean 'just read/watch/listen to' bc 'consume' just works better!! bc those are two different words and they mean different things!!! I CAN in fact consume and I don't do it like a machine I do it like a critic!!! I take in the art and I break it down and I analyze it and I taste it and I consider it and consumption is a very apt verb for that process!! no the fuck I do not want to use enjoy, or any other verb that implies a certain reaction because I NEED a general verb like consume! I can't go around saying I mildly disliked this podcast and I was pleasantly surprised by this novel and I was frustrated by this article if I want to be succinct which I DO. words mean things!!!!

also who tf is op complaining about anyway who is saying 'I consumed a novel' when talking about a specific experience. lmao. complain about the corporatization of art for sure but this IS making up a guy to get mad at

#people condescendingly language policing 'consume' and 'content' as if they're not literally just broad terms for taking in media #and very useful ones! which I will be using because they serve me!#if I want to say I'm digusted by something I'll say it.
