Interview with Consuelo Vanderbilt and Malan Breton
Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Malan Breton and Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin over Zoom video!
Fashion Designer Malan Breton takes his signature voice with a new twist to the classic Christmas tune, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” as a duet with chart topping recording artist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin.
His Taiwanese baritone vibrato dances in a lovely way with her rich sultry mezzo soprano as the two deliver this beautiful rendition for this holiday season. Breton enlisted English producer Alex Davies who is best known for his co-write for Kodaline’s single ‘Brother.’ He also has penned singles for the likes of JONES as well as further collaborations with Birdy, Gabrielle Aplin, Sigrid and Elderbrook. Alex is also classically trained in arranging as well as being a professional Pianist, Guitarist & Violinist. Giovanni Damiani (Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, ‘The Prayer’ by Andrea Bocelli) has also been enlisted for the A&R for this single. Malan and Consuelo will be giving back all the proceeds to Equity Fights Aids.
The holiday classic is a follow up to Malan’s synth take on the classic “Something Stupid” which was a hit on the iTunes chart and hit Top 10 in France, Top 5 in Greece, Top 10 in the UK, and Top 100 in the US. The song has nearly 1 million streams on Spotify.
The powerhouse dance songstress, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin has joined this duet by bringing her rich vocals to this rendition. The two will be filming a video at the famed Vanderbilt Museum as a backdrop to this Christmas tune. “We have been friends for years and we have supported each other’s business endeavors throughout the years but never in music. It felt right on this Christmas Classic,” gushes Consuelo. Breton adds, “I wanted something special and magical and I think we have done just that on this track and with the backdrop of my fashion designs and with the classic Vanderbilt mansion it will bring that idea of magic!”
Some of Vanderbilt Costin’s accolades include having 5 Top 10 singles on the Billboard Dance Charts and her music has skyrocketed on numerous International Charts. Not just a musical artist, she also adds tech entrepreneur to her list of accomplishments as she has successfully launched her digital platform, SOHOMUSE, where creatives can help creatives find jobs, find support and stay connected, network and sell their wares on the site’s newly created MARKETPLACE. With members that include top executives in the creative field such as Peter Landesman, Pauline Brown, Verne Mallis, Nicole Miller, and Breton himself, Consuelo is taking her entrepreneurial skills to new heights while also developing a podcast at the end of the year simply called “Delicious Conversations with Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin.”
The power of Malan Breton’s brand does not quite explain the creative depth of who Breton is today. One of Taiwan’s most respected entrepreneurs, Breton is much more than just a fashion designer, or brand; he is an award-winning director, writer, actor, performer and over all prolific icon. Breton will also be dressing both talents for the video fresh off the digital runway. The combination of both Vanderbilt and Breton will make for this Christmas Classic truly reflect Breton’s tag line…Wherever you go shine.

Primas and SohoMuse Ensuring Transparency for the Creative Industry
Blockchain unites with creative social network in a landmark collaboration during Primas Press conference on June 24th.
In one of the first collaborations of its kind, Primas will provide the creative social network SohoMuse with a full range of blockchain based services, including the Decentralized Trusted Content Protocol (DTCP), economic incentives, and decentralized crawlers.
Primas uses blockchain technology to ensure the credibility of content, and uses economic incentives to accelerate the generation and circulation of high-quality content.
SohoMuse has long been exploring blockchain and its potential applications for its members; both companies share a common goal for the security and traceability of content, as well as the protection of intellectual property rights. Through this strategic alliance, Primas will enable SohoMuse to bring the highest level of transparency, trustworthiness and safety into their platform, as well as various aspects of the creative industry.
Kitty Lan, Co-founder of Primas, and Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Co-founder of SohoMuse announced the deal together during the ceremony in Shanghai.
Designed for creative professionals, SohoMuse is equal parts community and portfolio platform. The visually rich vertical social network is an online space where Creatives from all fields can showcase their work, network and collaborate with other members in the SohoMuse community, and source the best talent for their projects from virtually anywhere around the world. In the Creative Industry, transparency is essential, and the relationships between creators and agents, managers, producers, and media outlets are based on transparency and trust.
Primas will use the DTCP to retain and format metadata for each individual Creative on SohoMuse by generating a unique DNA. Regardless of how content is spread across the internet, it will always be linked to the original Creative. Metadata is extracted from all kinds of information and links between them are created. The metadata and links are then recorded on the blockchain to make them immutable and traceable. By adding another dimension of data to all the online content, the DTCP makes the content itself more trustworthy and usable. Primas provides a user credibility system to better protect and distribute content, this also makes the tracing of works on the Internet a much easier task.
SohoMuse co-founder Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin said, “SohoMuse and Primas have incredible synergy as well as a shared vision for the future of distributing content. Our goal has always been for our members to work more efficiently and network more effectively, all within a secure and trusted ecosystem of fellow professionals.”
Kitty Lan, Co-founder of Primas added, “Primas and SohoMuse will wor together to make the Internet a more reliable and transparent place for Creatives in the global Creative Industry.”
Within this strategic partnership, Primas and SohoMuse are already looking for more ways to collaborate in the future. Primas will assist SohoMuse in expanding into Asian markets such as China, Japan and South Korea. SohoMuse will in turn enable Primas to expand their presence amongst a broader audience within the content industry, especially in the U.S.

TTS 258 AMMA Co-founder Matt McKibbin & Soho Muse Co-founder Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin
Tatiana & Josh are joined first by Matt McKibbin who recounts his history with Tatiana as supporters of the Ron Paul campaign and how it eventually led to their interest in cryptocurrency, while Josh reflects on observing Paul's campaign while living in his native Australia. Josh & Tatiana compare (but mostly contrast) Paul's campaign with that of Bernie Sanders. Matt shares his interest in decentralization and explains how he brought crypto with his group to Burning Man, and his desire to help the expansion of blockchain businesses and technology, such as the decentralized internet app service ThreeFold. Matt talks about his interest in The Singularity and how data security & decentralization will be essential as mankind moves toward a cybernetically-enhanced future and thought-powered devices.
Next, they discuss microdosing and the use of psychedelics as a way of "upgrading the human OS," and why most CBD products aren't high enough quality to be effective. Matt gives his predictions on how The Halving/Halvening will affect the dollar valuation of Bitcoin and what might mute the expected price bounce. Josh explains that most people don't understand exponential growth, and compares mathematically the expansion of US debt to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, Matt talks about his time as part of the d10e conference management team and expresses hope there will be more of those branded events soon.
Tatiana is joined by Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin for the second half of the episode to talk about SoHoMuse, a blockchain-backed promotion & connection network for artists. Consuelo shares her history as a performer, having been signed to a major UK label and what inspired her to create SoHoMuse. She gives some information about how SohoMuse works, how it's organized, and why they chose to go invite-only. Consuelo then discusses why she believes blockchain technology can help artists and content creators keep better control of their intellectual property. Virtual reality & 3D technology are discussed, and how remote entertainment can be an important tool to help bring revenue to artists. She also talks about how blockchain can help modernize music licensing.
Tatiana will be performing live for a Soho Muse event on May 20th, at 7:00 p.m. eastern. Don't miss it!

Jean Shafiroff and Vicky Tiel
Jean Shafiroff, prominent philanthropist and author of Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give, hosted a book signing for legendary Fashion Designer Vicky Tiel at her Park Avenue home on January 16, 2019 in New York City.
Attendees included: Jean Shafiroff , Vicky Tiel, Martin Shafiroff, Valerie Steele, Victor dE Souza, Carrie Sheffield, Rita Cosby, Martin Shafiroff , Alex Donner, CeCe and Lee Black, Victor Martinez, Sonia Cole, Janna Bullock, Matt Rich, Ray Bouderau, Roy Kean, Ariadna Vera Bustindui, Ana Stone, Nicole Noonan, Montgomery Fraiser, Edgar Batista, Gilda Sacasa, Marilyn Kirschner, Laurel Marcus, Maria Fishel, Alejandra Sacasa, Ernest Schmatolla, Judge Jonathan Le Winter, Consuela Costin Vanderbuilt, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Larry Kaiser, Sibylle Eschapasse, Flo Anthony, Tony Bowles, Missy Hargraves, and Kim Renk.
If you saw Pretty Woman starring Julia Roberts, you surely remember ‘the dress’ which Vicky created. If you saw Jill Biden at the Obama’s Inaugural Ball, you would have seen the same dress in red. If you shopped at iconic fashion retailer Bergdorf Goodman, you might recognize it as the longest selling dress in Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus (for some 32 years) – courtesy of Vicky Tiel.
After graduating from Parson’s School of Design in 1964, Vicky moved to Paris to start a career in fashion where she met Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Vicky introduced wrap dresses, caftans, string bikinis and micro minis. She went on to create the costumes for 13 movies. In the early 1970s she evolved from the “youth quake” sixties designer to a glamorous Parisian couturier and launched her first perfume in 1989 at the suggestion of mentor Coco Chanel.
While Vicky no longer designs fashion on a wide scale, she recently entered into an exclusive fashion collaboration with philanthropist, journalist and author Jean Shafiroff. Jean is a glamorous presence on the New York scene whose activities span the spectrum of receiving the Dina Merrill Hartley Public Service Award to hosting Oscar winner Colin Firth prior to receiving his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star for movie, The King’s Speech. She is the author of Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give.
Vicky designed Jean’s dress that she wore while hosting a book-signing event for Vicky’s book: The Absolute Woman: It’s All About Feminine Power published by Post Hill Press and available on amazon.com. In addition to the couture dress designed by Vicky, Jean wore a pair of Flawless Diamond ear-rings and cocktail ring courtesy of Chopard, valued at $1.5 million and which were loaned especially for the event.

How this ‘Rebel Heiress’ is following in her ancestors footsteps by uniting creatives digitally
Many focus on the fact that Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin is a seventh-generation descendant of the railroad and shipping tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt. But, she was also born with a huge entrepreneurial spirit and an insatiable desire to forge her own way in the world as a musician, and artist. A move that prompted Prestige magazine to label her the Rebel Heiress.
As a musician, Consuelo silenced her…

New York’s Grand Central Terminal Strives to Be a Destination in Its Own Right
New York's Grand Central station can be more than just a rail terminus. It can be an attraction worth exploring itself. Shinya Suzuki / Flickr
Skift Take: Grand Central Terminal's main concourse is well known worldwide for its constellation-covered ceiling. But tourists who are willing to peek around its corners will find many more delights.
— Sean O'Neill
An average of 750,000 people pass through New York’s iconic Grand Central Terminal each day—but most of the 49-acre, 1913 Beaux Arts building has always remained off-limits to the general public. With the help of Cornelius Vanderbilt II’s great-great-grand-niece Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Grand Central Terminal director George Monasterio, and Grand Central’s senior architect Mark Saulnier, Bloomberg got an inside look at the spaces (and secrets) you never knew to ask about.
It’s Possible to Go Inside the Tiffany Clock
Since most people lived and worked downtown from Grand Central Terminal when the building first opened more than 100 years ago, the monumental clock installed in the building’s south-facing façade in 1913 was designed to be seen by pretty much everyone in town. But few have been able to peer through it from behind, up close. Getting here requires security clearance and more than a little know-how: A secret door in the tightly guarded Operations Control Center leads the way, followed by two somewhat precarious ladders. (So few people have been given access, the tradition is to Sharpie your name onto the wall if you do get in.)
There Once Was a Ski Slope on the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Floors
Maybe you knew that there are one and a half tennis courts in GCT, one on the fourth floor and a half court above it. But did you know that the combined space was at one point part of a 60-foot-tall ski slope made out of compounded nylon? True story. It was the whimsical creation of a Hungarian entrepreneur in the 1960s, who thought he could give New Yorkers a ski fix without the two-hour drive. It was open for only a few years before Donald Trump turned it into a tennis space that he could offer to guests at his hotel next door, the Grand Hyatt.
The Gigantic Windows Actually Open
When you’re in the main terminal, look east, south, and west. You’ll notice nine oblong windows, each spanning approximately six stories. Behind them is another set of windows that you’d never knew existed—unless you were a traveler in the early 1900s. Back then, both sets of windows could be opened to form a cross-breeze through the terminal—natural air conditioning, if you will. The wheels that open the windows are still accessible from all-glass catwalks, but energy efficiency measures mean they haven’t been used in ages.
The Campbell Apartment Was Never an Apartment
You know the famous bar? The one that closed last summer? It was never an apartment, as its name suggests. But it was named for a famous tenant, John Campell, who conducted musical events and parties here for his business clients. Future tenants included a branch of the New York Police Department, which turned Campbell’s tall wooden chests into rifle storage and his half-height wine cellar into a holding cell for suspected criminals. As for the next tenant? It’s Scott Gerber’s Gerber Group, the force behind such bars as Whiskey Blue and Mr. Purple—which will reopen the bar on May 1. (It’s reportedly paying $1.1 million a year in rent to operate the space.)
There Used to Be a Movie Theater … for Watching the News
Back when train travel was the main way to get from, say, New York to Miami, sitting in a train terminal was similar to waiting at an airport gate today. You had time to kill while trains were cleaned and turned around and while your luggage was checked and routed. The best way to occupy yourself, back then, was at a newsreel movie theater, where world news clips were shown on loop. Little remains of the Grand Central Theater, but it occupied the space now taken up by Central Cellars wine shop in the Graybar passageway. Look up from the main doors, and you’ll see the one feature from the theater that remains: an original turquoise-colored mural meant to evoke the massive constellation painting in the main concourse.
The Original Light Fixtures Had Mysteriously Vanished … Until Recently
The perimeter of Grand Central Terminal was once lined with 26 tall brass lamps—they were removed in the 1980s when the station was undergoing waterproofing. But when they were sent to storage, the lamps went missing, and nobody knew what became of them for decades. Fast forward to 2003, and all 26 lamps were found—broken down into pieces—in a Department of Transportation facility in Maspeth, Queens.
Now they’re being restored one by one as funds come in—the project requires a $1 million investment. (See one in the old Kissing Room. Get there by looking for track #42.) As more are restored, they’ll be moved outside to 42nd Street and Park Avenue, on either side of the Pershing Square bridge.
It Was Once the Hub for an Entire ‘Terminal City’
You think Grand Central is big? It was originally planned to be just the cornerstone of an entire complex, including three hotels, residences, a conference center, a post office, and seven underground passageways. (That doesn’t include this secret train tunnel to the Waldorf.)
One passageway, now closed, led to the old Roosevelt Hotel. Some of the signage is still intact, but mostly it’s off limits for good reason.
The Ceiling Paintings Are Actually Unfinished
Head to the Graybar passageway (where the movie theater used to be), and you’ll notice a series of arches—one with a faded mural depicting 1920s infrastructure development projects. All the arches were supposed to be done in similar style as a way to boost civic pride, but after the first mural was completed in 1930, the Great Depression took hold, and the city ran out of funding for the rest of the project. The arches remain naked to this day.
Security Sensors Are Everywhere
You may not think you’re going through airport-level security when you casually waltz into Grand Central, but sensors at every street entrance are secretly sizing you up. They act like sniffing dogs, hard-wired to recognize security threats. Then there’s the fact that most of the building actually requires key-card access, such as the Operation Control Center (OCC) and electrical control rooms that act as the mission control base for all train and electric rail activity across the Metro North train network.
What happens when there’s a potential security breach? An urgent meeting of police and terminal directors in the Situation Room, a board room set just above the OCC.
There Are Hidden Love Letters in the Main Concourse’s Celestial Ceiling
When the terminal first opened, the main concourse sported a different version of the current celestial ceiling: It was more heroic and formal, in darker shades of green and gold. It’s commonly known that the original ceiling became so tarnished and water damaged that artists had to repaint it in the 1940s. (A tiny rectangle of the original was left exposed.) But what most people don’t know is that the mural was also modified slightly when it was refit, and among the additions are little love notes from the artists. In subtle spots, such as Taurus’s eye, you can spot tiny dark letters. They’re actually the names of babies born and spouses married during the ceiling’s yearlong reconstruction.

NYFW DAY UNO: Women's F/W
RECAP:
As I arrived in New York to attend my fifth consecutive season of New York Fashion Week during a blizzard storm, I couldn't help but to be as excited as the first time I visited the city. Every time I'm in New York I end up saying it was "bittersweet". The city always showed me a good time but also teaches me a lesson with every single stay. However this time around I felt more than prepare for the four days I would be spending there. I had rsvp and email my press kit to all the shows I was looking to attend and I had received my confirmations so I was ready to go. After a quick fresh up, I style myself in the first outfit. To head over to Style Fashion Week at Madison Square Garden.

Style Fashion Week: The Shows
I had the privilege to enjoy the start of Style Fashion Week by watching the Malan Breton | "Everywhere at the end of time..." runway show. Inspired from the silent film era with Frankie Grande, Kiera Chaplin, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Mason Grammer and Dylan Grieco. I also had the chance to see other feature designers like David Tupaz and Rich by Richie Rich.
The runways was full of special performances by Sky Ferreira, hip-hop artist Layzie Bone (Bone Thugs & Harmony), Pop Singer Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees), Miri Ben-Ari and Meredith O'Connor. Other performers included music stylings by Mims, Missals, JP Vance, Squidnice and Smooky MarGielaa and DJ JES. The event was packed crowd of consumers, fashion industry insiders, VIPs and celebrities including Jessica Pimentel, Nicole Arbour, Miss J Alexander, Michael Raven, Caila Quinn and Madeline Stuart. Style Fashion Week also collaborated with Russell Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation on an exclusive art installation for the Style Marketplace which also included immersed guests in fashion, art and commerce. Best part of Style Fashion Week this season was not working it and the great polaroid print outs I received from taking a photo on Instagram and #StyleFW. As I keep in schedule, my next stop was....
Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo: The Pop-Up Shop
Entering the Banana Republic pop-up shop on Broadway. I was escorted by sculpting trench coats wore by male models from the #BRSTYLERIDE to the media/interviewing area. To where I had the privilege to not only meet, speak and interview Olivia Palermo someone I have looked up to since I was 16 years old and my days of watching The City on MTV. My time at the pop-up shop was beyond pleasing the staff from Banana Republic were amazing host, proving tasty treats and refills of champagne for the parched fashionable attendees. As I made my way in line to meet Olivia Palermo I had the chance to speak with some fellow border neighbors from Canada Mr. Fab and Aldonab who happened to also be in attendance to the Michael Costello show, next on my schedule. As I finally got to Olivia Palermo, what was said is coming soon...! (Via video)
Michael Costello: How I Missed The Show But Catch Claire Sulmers On The Exit
Running around Skylight Clarkson Square trying to make it in time to the Michael Costello show was beyond an epic fail. After arriving at the location, but trying to find the correct entrance by being provided all sorts of directions. I finally found the correct entrance to Gallery I where the show was already exiting. Sad and upset, I took a look around and knew I had missed the show. The Michael Costello runway was at the top of my list to watch and I was looking forward to sharing my experience firsthand with my fellow readers. As I made my way toward the exit I recognize a face I knew very well from my Instagram feed. Claire Sulmer the editor, chief and leader of Fashion Bomb Daily. Trying to gather my thoughts I went for it and interrupted her while on the phone for an unprompted interview. What was said is coming soon...! (Via video)
