These people are coming alive he said make a casino out of the clay and call it Olympia and they're going to do it making huge blocks that are like 8 foot by 8 foot by 16 foot then interlock and they're going to try and glue it together with stuff they have some systems at work. They're gonna make a pyramid out of the same stuff it's gonna be intense cause those are gonna be like light bomb shelters for small arms and missiles and things like that they can shelter in place and go down if they have to it's gonna be intense OK this is gonna be one of the most intense places on Earth and there's gonna be probably 20 of them I've never heard this before it was not true we came up with it and it's like Las Vegas but more up to date. Now people are going there like it's Mecca so he says make a Taj Mahal and someone says isn't that Mecca and it's like no that's not Mecca. They want to make a mecca casino and it's sacrilege and the foreigners will say you can't do that and things like that and they'll show up and they'll have a stake in it and all of a sudden they said good they're gonna make a Taj Mahal it's less invasive and they're gonna make some Chinese ones and not huge just double Vegas and they're going ahead with it now. This is going to be so damned intense and he's got a hold of the guy who was in Pacific Rim and it's one of Timmy Doyle's guys maybe and he says no it looks like a mac is not it's one of Trump's characters he said you gotta have a kju hotel and casino really a restaurant he said so he's gonna try and do that and he can buy the antiquities. And it's gonna be worth a lot and it'll protect the place even for us if they found odd things we went back and said wow that's intense so it's going on now huge crowds are going there
so it's going on now huge crowds are going thereHUGE HUGE CROWDS
AND ARE IN THE HIGH ONE PERCENT
Almost 1.9 percent of the global population are headed to these locations to build. Honor that 1.9% half of them are trumpsters they see it coming they're gonna get hit and they moved on to their cities in the cities they had about 1.5 percent so all of them are almost moved out. Literally that's how many moves out and DJA has moved about 0.4 percent out and now they have to get going cuz they need to match what he's doing or he'll have control over it and it's gonna be a big fight like Biff and back to the future that's how it got there. And it's going on right now and he says you guys **** in these buildings and they have to move them and cities had to be moved and he says that's stupid as hell go look at it hey I have to poop I have to go but so anyways there are a lot of people going there right now 2% of the populace is gigantic and believe it or not the trumps just had enough of that **** city all of them and they still have probably one percent there but their packing stuff up and going back and forth and believe they're moving things in some buildings that they fixed it's a big operation and what will take over will be the dregs and probably mutants OK so it's huge crowds going up 0.3 percent of the trumpsters globally and about 0.1 percent of BJA but those are armies of construction people with that army size in one month they build Vegas the size it is they needed much larger group to do it but they're getting equipment together we expect about 0.4% tomorrow between the both of them that will add up to about 1% but there's still tons of them in the city and they're moving and they don't see the value yet and how can they. They have two casinos in the United States coming online this week sometime midweek. They're going to try and open the casino early maybe Monday before the hotel and that's tomorrow they're working on now and it would be for testing it out and for the workers up there and they're going at it now they're removing machines all over the world and buying them from small casinos and they're cleaning Tommy F out he had like 800 or 1000 in Florida they're saying it was more and they got like half of them empty. It is **** but he knows how to win on the machines so it's kind of funny 'cause he knows how to identify them and it's gonna be a joke no they'll probably go after them for a while try and get their ships.. None of it tonight OK it's a fiasco it's deadly but they're going after them and it's a huge huge huge thing OK this is a gigantic move 0.4% of the world's population there's enough people to fill New York up 10 times and we mean the whole city area and not including the bunkers mitch gigantic
This is a lot of people lot of machines lot of equipment in its global there's 20 locations and it's a plan and they're doing it and they want to see these ships he says eventually they do things like that and bring people and look at it and try and study people from university like the guy with the big beard will come down to look do testing. So they're having a great time and they're experiencing it we're gonna have a lot of fun going through this right now and there are more people heading up there and with signs and they have equipment and they have trucks and vans full of stuff they have huge numbers of campers and mobile homes giant numbers of huge tents and all of them are heading up there real fast it's like a military move but it's not they have huge trucks and tanks on the outskirts no it's a joint move and it is massively intense it's going to be one of the world's largest movement of people to do a project in history and it is like Egypt and the clans towards the end of it.
You don't wanna know what I'm thinking i'm thinking this is wonderful it's going to be a mixed bag and it really has to be and they think that Australia will work and or New Zealand and they think this will work together and it's it's beautiful and she thought of anything and it's true she put it together what an angel she is he's gonna have to work and get some things up block walls some kind of maze in and out of the house yeah that's fun right there for crying out loud. It's a massive movement more tomorrow we're gonna have more word tomorrow but tonight it's around 0.65% who are going up there or plan to it's huge it is huge giant buildings are planned to go in huge huge amounts of asphalt and concrete and rebars going up there giant numbers of people and some troops from each it's a neutral zone it's hollowed ground and our son and daughter arranged it and said we don't know the culture but we think this might work as hollow ground because we need it the foreigners are getting involved they would preclude the max hopefully from buying stuff that they need and Warlock need. All sorts of products our son wants to tote crazy stuff and he wants to put a superhero bar up there so he wants to make a bar named Maggie and it's a small bar you'd find in Gloucester and Hera is smiling The neighbor from the low desert still has the bottle and he says good we're gonna need it up there that was awesome and he says that's terrific and he knows about it and he goes thank you for remembering and he says I can't forget everybody's always talking about you and at least something different now and a lot of other topics and it's true finally. And she likes it he says he's getting ahead of her next character's name and she says wow you're a **** **** **** **** so we're moving on

Golden Light & Shields Chapter 5
Ikaris x Male Reader
A/N: Sorry for the late update. School’s a bitch.
Tumblr media
All the Eternals, minus Makkari, Karun, and Y/N, walk through the deserts of Iraq with the intended destination of locating the Domo. They followed Phastos, as he had a tracking device that could locate their ship. Phastos and the others stop as they look at a digging site. The ground begins to shake and break apart as the things on top of the surface begin to cave in, but something rises from the dust and causes a whirlwind of dirt to go flying everywhere. Karun is filming with a camera as he witnesses the incredible sight. “The Domo. Wow.”The star-ship rises out of the dirt trench and into the air. This was so cool. Like the Helicarrier, or a Quinjet.
“How are we gonna get up there?” Y/N asked, looking down into the trench.
Ikaris smiled. “Like this.”
He swept Y/N off his feet and began to float in the air as he headed towards an opening in the ship. Once Ikaris safety put Y/N back on his feet; he went down and one by one brought everyone onto the ship until they were all together.
Karun was in front of them videotaping as Kingo talked in an eerie voice. “A foreboding atmosphere fills the air. An eerie stillness chokes our lungs.”
Phastos frowns. “What are you doing? You know you’re creeping us out. You know that, right?”
“Yeah, Kingo. This is a documentary. Not a horror movie,” Y/N said.
There is a loud popping noise as Phastos jumps and screams. “Oh! Oh, God!” He looks at Thena. “Stay calm, T, please!” They all look down and see Thena stepped on a bag of chips. Y/N giggles. Phastos picks up the bag and chuckles nervously. “Chips. It’s just chips.”
Kingo looks at the camera. “As you can see, being an Eternal does not preclude you from having human emotions such as cowardice.”
They walk inside the main room and see it’s littered with different items from across the world. It’s actually kind of cool. “What has she done? Is that… a sarcophagus in my lab?” Phastos asks, heading to his lab. They all look around as Kingo introduces a woman sitting on a throne, reading a book. “This is Makkari. Or should I say Miss Havisham? None of us have seen her for centuries.”
Makkari set her book down and smiled. She talks to them in sign language. “Ready to go home?”
“Hmm.”
Phastos is working a big construct as images flash in the air as he works on a plan to deal with Tiamut. Thena grabs a sword, swings it, knocking a suit of armor helmet to the side.
“Is that the Ebony Blade?” Sprite asks Thena as she puts down a scroll.
“Excalibur,” Thena smiles. She swings it and makes a clean cut through the air.
“Arthur always did have a crush on you,” Gilgamesh said.
Kingo and Makkari are signing to each. “So you mean… I’ve been waiting for centuries to go back to Olympia, and now you’re telling me… it doesn’t exist?” Makkari asks.
“That, and the world is ending,” Kingo signs back.
“At last my boredom is ending.”
“Have you seen my movies?” Kingo asks her.
Makkari frowns. “I don’t have a DVD player.”
“DVD? It’s all about streaming now. You know, what you need is a Kindle,” Kingo says. “Do you know what that is? It’s like a… You know, I just realized that if you don’t know what an iPad is, there’s almost no way to explain it.”
Ikaris, Y/N, and Druig are digging through the different items. Druig finds a box of Twinkies and Ikaris finds the Emerald Tablet. They both look at each other, then at the item in the other person’s hands. They both want what the other person has. They trade items and glare at one another as Ikaris opens the box and Druig looks at the tablet. Y/N chuckles. “Boys, play nice.”
“Do you want one, Duckling?” Ikaris asks Y/N.
Y/N takes the wrapped sponge cake and unwraps it and takes a bite of the creamy deliciousness. “So good.”
“I bet that’s not the only thing you’d love to put in your mouth,” Druig smirks.
“Shut it, ya dobber,” Ikaris says.
Makkari looks at Ikaris, Druig, and Y/N. She points to the young hero. “Who’s that?” She asks Kingo.
“That is Y/N Maximoff. Ikaris’s superhero boyfriend,” Kingo signs back.
“Boyfriend? Ikaris?” Makkari signs, a shocked look on her face.
“Right? I was shocked too. Because I never thought the Boss would be interested in men, but you know me, no judgment,” Kingo rants.
Druig comes up to them holding the Emerald Tablet, a smirk on his lips. “So, how did you end up scoring this…” he shows Makkari the tablet as she tries to grab it from him, but he pulls the tablet back. “Emerald Tablet, my beautiful, beautiful Makkari?” She snatched the tablet out of Druig’s hands.
“Did you miss me?” Druig signs to her. Makkari smiles.
“I’m sorry. What are we watching? Because this…” Phastos signs to Makkari. “Are you two…”
“Is this new?” Kingo asks. “Because I hate it.”
“Oh, come on, you guys. I think it’s sweet,” Y/N says. “It proves Druig does have a heart after all.” Druig glares at Y/N.
Y/N turns to Makkari and signs to the deaf Eternal. “Ikaris says you’re fast. So are my brother and I. We should have a race sometime.”
Makkari is shocked at first, but smiles. “Sounds like fun, but promise me you won’t cry when you lose.”
“I promise,” Y/N smiled.
“I didn’t know you knew sign language, Duckling,” Ikaris said.
“Clint taught me.”
“Phastos, I need to control the mind of a Celestial,” Druig says.
“Okay, get ready for it,” Phastos says and signs. He puts an image on the screen for everyone to see.
“Bracelets?” Kingo asks. “You made us bracelets?”
“So, here’s a little Celestial 101.Celestials are the most powerful energy generators in the universe. When Arishem made us, he imbued us with infinite cosmic energy to keep our bodies regenerating,” Phastos says. “The bracelets, in theory, shut down our regeneration process. And once that happens, our bodies accumulate extra cosmic energy.”
“What for?” Sersi asks.
“Well, if the Deviants can absorb our energy, what if we can absorb each other’s energy as well?” Phastos looked around. “If I can find a way to connect us all, one of us could become immensely powerful, pulling the accumulated energy from the rest, forming… a Uni-Mind.”
There’s a giant brain with mini versions of the Eternals combining energies together, an image to emphasize the point. Phastos looks at everyone with a smile on his face, proud of what he’s just announced. Everyone is silent. Phastos frowns. “Uni” meaning “one,” “mind” meaning “mind.”
“Oh, no, we heard you the first time,” Kingo said.
“Terrible name,” Sprite says.
“We’ll brainstorm… Brainstorm! That’s a way better name!” Kingo smiles.
“No, I invented it, so I’m calling it whatever I want,” Phastos says.
Y/N looked at the images. “So, you want everyone to combine their cosmic energy and transfer it to one of you to amplify your own abilities?”
“Exactly. See, someone gets it,” Phastos says.
“Like my friend, Carol, who, when she absorbs enough energy, enters a ‘binary form’ that makes her way more powerful. Powerful enough to go toe to toe with Thanos and take a punch from the power stone,” Y/N said.
“So suppose Druig can, say… put Tiamut to sleep. Then what?” Makkari asks.
“We find humans a new home on another planet,” Sersi said.
“Are we building a big ship, too? Take a pair of each animal?” Sprite sarcastically says.
“Well, you know what’s never saved the planet? Your sarcasm,” Phastos says.
“Space colonization could take decades,” Sprite protests.
“It can happen quickly with our help,” Sersi said.
“What if we end up accidentally killing Tiamut? We could be responsible for billions of lives not being created across the universe,” Kingo looks at Ikaris. “Boss, am I right?”
“Say something, Ikaris,” Sprite demands. “You don’t think we should be doing this.”
They all look at Ikaris expectantly. Ajak knows that look. The weight of pressure about making the hard decisions. She's had to do that for centuries now, and it never gets any easier.
“Why are you all looking at me? Ajak is still here, she’s still the leader,” Ikaris says.
“Forget that. You’re the strongest. You should be making this decision,” Sprite says.
“Hey, I'm deeply hurt, Sprite,” Gilgamesh says.
Ikaris is silent. Sprite rolls her eyes. “Fine. Just keep lying to yourself.” she storms off.
“Sprite,” Y/N calls.
Ikaris begins to walk away as well. “Okay, this is not…” Phastos starts as Kingo and Y/N follow after Ikaris. “Ikaris.”
“Don’t run after him. Kingo, Y/N, I… You guys.”
Y/N and Kingo follow Ikaris down the hall. “Hey. Don’t sweat it. Sprite’s always cranky. I used to hear her complaining even when she wasn’t there,” Kingo says.
“I’m okay, Kingo,” Ikaris says.
“You don't seem fine,” Y/N noted.
“If you think we should do this, I trust you. I will follow you to the end, like I always have,” Kingo said.
“What did you say?” Ikaris eyed Kingo.
“I will follow you to the end, like I always have, Kingo repeats.
“I’m not who you think I am,” Ikaris says, walking away from Y/N and Kingo.
Y/N sighed. “I'll go talk to him.” He follows after Ikaris, who flies off the ship and to the ground below. Y/N sighed again. How was he supposed to get down?
Y/N floated down towards the modern-day version of Babylon. Ikaris was standing in the middle of rocky hills as Y/N walked towards him, sand on his shoes. “I couldn't get down. I thought about throwing myself off the ship and creating a crater in the process,” but thank God for telekinesis,” Y/N smiled.
“How'd you find me?”
“I know a thing or two about tracking, and I saw you fly in this direction.”
“I’ve thought about this place a lot. Amazing how things change over time,” Ikaris looks around.
“Maybe you've changed. And maybe that's not such a bad thing,” Y/N said.
“You know, I’ve always thought of the Celestials like the ocean. They give life and they take life away without bias,” Ikaris looked at Y/N. “If they were gone, this universe would eventually end. What we’re trying to do is free humanity from the natural order of things.”
“It’s not natural to allow all life on an entire planet to be destroyed, but that's not what's really bothering you, is it?” Y/N said.
Ikaris sighed. “Just now, everyone was turning to me for answers and reassurance. And I couldn't give them that.” he looked at Y/N. “Why me? Ajak is still alive and should be making this call, not me.”
“It's okay to be afraid. It's a human emotion.”
“I'm not human, remember?”
“Yes you are. To me you are.”
Y/N put a hand to Ikaris's chest. “Feel that? My hand on your beating heart?” Y/N asked. Ikaris nodded his head.
“That's why everyone turned to you today. It's because they look up to you. They value your advice and know your heart is pure and strong enough to make this decision,” Y/N said.
“What if I'm wrong, Y/N?” Ikaris asked him. “What if we make things worse instead of better?”
“They couldn't get much worse than they already are, Iceberg,” Y/N reminds him. “If things do indeed get worse, then we'll deal with it. I've faced the impossible before and won. This time won't be any different.”
“Are you willing to bet our lives on that?”
“Are you willing not to?”
“So, you’d be willing to move to a new planet if it came down to it?” Ikaris looked down at Y/N.
“Yeah, I would. As long as you, my family, and friends are there by my side. Also, if this new planet has a (favorite restaurant or fast-food joint).”
Ikaris smiled. “I’m in love with you, Duckling. I’m grateful for the life I’ve lived with you.”
“Me too, Iceberg. I’ve wanted to be happy for so long and now I am. I'm not giving that up without a fight,” Y/N says.
“Do you really think you could be happy with me? An Eternal who never grows old?” Ikaris said.
“Always,” Y/N leans up and kisses Ikaris on the lips. Y/N feels Ikaris' warmth as a vision enters his mind, making him gasp. Y/N sees Ikaris, but it's not his Ikaris. He had no idea how he knew that or that this was on another Earth in another dimension, but he just knew. The events were happening just like they are now. The only difference is that Ikaris betrayed his friends, killed Ajak in the name of Arishem. There was no Y/N on this planet, and even if there were, it was too late.
Y/N gasps again as the vision leaves him. Ikaris looks at him, concerned. “What’s wrong Duckling? What happened?”
Y/N licks his lips and tries to process everything he just saw. Ikaris was a traitor to his friends. It wasn't possible. “I-I saw you. In another universe and you didn't want to stop the Emergence, but let it happen. You killed Ajak and betrayed the others.”
Ikaris was silent. A shocked look on his face. “I swear I would never—”
“—I know Ikaris. I'm not sure why I saw that vision. Maybe it's one of my new powers? To see the same events, but on different earths?”
“What kind of power is that?”
“Dr. Strange once used the time stone and astral projection to see different possible futures. Maybe it's like that,” Y/N said.
“Maybe,” Ikaris said.
“Hey, come on. I know you’re no Benedict Arnold.”
“Why would you see that? See me?” Ikaris asked.
“Maybe it's a clue.” Y/N said. “I think it's a clue on how to use the Uni-Mind. We should tell the others, because I have an idea.” Y/N began to walk in the direction of the ship.
“Y/N?” Ikaris called.
Y/N turned to him. “Yes?”
“Nothing,” Ikaris said as he followed Y/N, putting the ring back in his pocket.
They head back to the ship and find Ajak hunched over. They rush to her. “What's wrong with her?”
“It’s started. The Emergence has commenced,” Ajak says.
“Oh, no. My God.”
“What about the Uni-Mind?”
“I haven’t figured out a way to connect us, but I’m close. I’m very, very close,” Phastos said.
“How much longer?” Sersi asks.
“I don’t know, Sersi!” Phastos says.
Phastos grabs a device and hands it to Makkari. “Find the point of emergence.” She races off.
Druig and Thena are looking at a painting. “You always knew the end was coming. It must be a relief.” Druig looks at her.
“That Deviant is still tracking us,” Thena says.
“Revenge won’t bring peace for you, Thena.”
“But killing it might,” she smiles.
Ikaris grabs Y/N’s hand and leads him to another room in the Domo. It’s an empty room with a hologram of Arishem. Y/N frowns as he looks at Ikaris. “Where are we, Iceberg?”
Ikaris smiles. “Somewhere special.”
“If this is your way of getting a quickie before battle, then you can forget it,” Y/N said.
“That is the last thing on my mind right now, Duckling. Though, I do prefer to do it in the sands of Babylon,” Ikaris smiled.
The Eternal walked towards a wall and put his back flat against it. Before Y/N could ask what he was up to, there was a symbol on the wall that flashed as golden wires began to come out and inched towards Ikaris as they created his superhero costume over his clothes. His costume was blue with golden accents of different symbols on the suit, mixed together with armor. Ikaris stepped away from the wall and smirked at Y/N. “So, what do you think?” He asked, referring to his suit.
Y/N smiled. “It’s awesome, Iceberg. Really cool.”
“Thank you. I think we just might have to get you one, too. If you’re going to officially join the team,” Ikaris said.
“Wait? You want me to join your team?” Y/N asks.
“Of course, you’ve already proven you can handle Deviants. And everyone else would agree with me by asking if you’d like to be a part of the Eternals?”
Y/N was shocked, but also honored that these people he only just met a few days ago wanted him to be a part of them. “I’d love too, Ikaris.”
“Well, in that case. Right this way.” Ikaris led Y/N to his wall symbol as Y/N put his back to just like Ikaris had. The wires began to descend on Y/N as they began to create a suit of armor over his original hero costume. They went down his arms and legs as they created a suit similar to Ikaris’s, except Y/N’s was a light blue with red symbols, boots and fingerless gloves. Y/N looked down at his new suit before looking up at Ikaris with a smirk. “What? No cape?”
“Look again, Duckling.” Ikaris pointed behind Y/N’s back. A yellow cape formed from his shoulders down his back, past his calves. “This is so cool!” Ikaris smiled at his boyfriend’s enthusiasm. “Thor, eat your heart out.”
….
Y/N and Ikaris walk back into the room as the others discuss their plan of action. They look at Y/N and Ikaris in costume. Ready for action.
“Nice suit, Y/N,” Kingo says. “You did a great job Boss.”
Y/N blushed. “Thank you.”
“So where are we with the Uni-Mind? Any progress?” Ikaris asks.
“No. I can’t seem to make it work,” Phastos says.
“It’s okay, Phastos. I think I have an idea of how to make it work,” Y/N tells him.
“How?” Ajak asks.
“With the sphere inside you,” Y/N points to Ajak’s chest. “The sphere inside you lets you connect with Arishem, right?”
“Yes, that's correct.”
“Well, what if Phastos could take it out of you and reverse engineer it and create a connection between all of you instead?”
“And that could theoretically create the Uni-Mind. Y/N, that's brilliant!” Phastos said.
“Great.”
“But umm, I have to take it out of Ajak to use it.”
Ajak steps forward. “Do it then.”
“Okay.” Phastos’s hands glow as he uses his cosmic powers to try and pull the sphere out of Ajak safely.
“Don't kill her,” Thena says.
“Thena…”
“Do it, Phastos,” Ajak says.
Phastos concentrates as he tugs at the sphere inside Ajak and brings it forward. Her neck glows and a golden sphere comes out and levitates itself to Phastos.
“Will it work?” Sersi asks as Phastos breaks the shell covering the energy stone inside. “It has to.” Phastos uses the power from Ajak’s sphere and uses it to make the bracelets for the Uni-Mind. Taking out pieces he doesn't need until it's ready to go. Phastos smiles at his finished invention.
The other Eternals prepare for battle as they get their armored suits on. Even Sprite comes back from her little temper tantrum. They are all wearing the bracelet that Phastos made, connecting them together. Makkari found the point of the Emergence. Tiamut was located in an active volcano in the Indian Ocean.
The Domo flew towards the volcano as the Eternals and Y/N knew their mission. The Domo landed on the ground as Y/N, Ikaris, Sersi, Makkari, and Druig got off. The others stayed behind in the Domo but would come help if needed. Makkari and Y/N used their speed to zoom themselves and the others close enough for the Uni-Mind to work, but not close to the volcano.
“It’s time to put a god to sleep,” Sersi said.
Y/N looked at Druig. “Are you ready for this?”
Druig looks at Y/N. A frown on his face, but something gentle in his eyes. “When I die, you stay away from my funeral.”
“Deal,” Y/N chuckles.
Druig turns the bracelet on his wrist and activates it as it spins and so do Sersi's, Ikaris’s, and Makkari’s. Sersi, Ikaris, and Makkari float in the air as their energy is transferred to Druig and so is everyone else's. The power of all Eternals combined into one. It's an incredible sight. Druig focuses on putting Tiamut to sleep and it works. The active volcano begins to quiet down as the lava recedes back into the volcano. Y/N is so invested in what’s happening with the volcano that he doesn't see the humanity-Deviant charging towards him until he feels it slam a cosmic fist into his body. Y/N flies back and rolls on the ground, wondering what the hell just hit him. The young Avenger looks up and sees it’s the Deviant. The creature’s tendrils shootout and latch onto Druig, absorbing his power. It bites on Druig’s neck, who groans as his energy is being drained and in pain.
“No!” Y/N cries as he runs at the Deviant and two go rolling on the ground as Y/N slams into him. The others begin to awaken from their broken connection as Makkari notices Druig on the ground and rushes to him. Ikaris and Sersi see Y/N fighting the head Deviant as the creature latches its tentacles on Y/N. Wrapping around his arms and legs, making it impossible to move. Y/N struggles to break free. Ikaris flies forward and slams into the Deviant as he flies them up into the air, punches thrown back and forth as the two struggle against each other, as they turn down into a nosedive, heading towards the ground.
“Ikaris!” Y/N calls looking up at them falling towards the ground, near the volcano. He runs after them, keeping his eyes on the sky and follows over to the place that they landed at. Y/N looks down at the crater they made, but there's no sign of Ikaris. Y/N scans the area and sees there's a cave. The sound of fighting, optical blasts, grunting, and screaming can be heard, echoing through the walls of the cave. Then there's silence. Y/N rushes over and just stops at the entrance of the cave. He peers into the dark cave.
“Iceberg! Are you okay?” Y/N calls out as his voice echoes. No answer. Y/N is about to walk inside when something slams into him and pushes him back. Y/N realized its laser vision. Ikaris comes out of the cave, eyes glowing gold as he looks at Y/N and blasts him again. Y/N is pushed back as his body takes in the cosmic energy. Y/N’s eyes flash blue as he creates a shield, blocking the attack. “Iceberg? What are you doing?”
The Deviant comes out of the cave and looks at Y/N with an eerie smile on its face. “That's enough, Ikaris. For now.” Ikaris obeyed like a good dog and stopped his attack on Y/N.
“What did you do to him?” Y/N demands.
The Deviant smiled again. “I've done nothing but show Ikaris, who’s truly in charge here.”
“You’re controlling him?” Y/N asked.
“Yes, I am. The most powerful Eternal at my beckoned call,” the Deviant said, sounding like Pennywise the Dancing Clown. “I wanted to control all their minds, but I only took enough energy to control one Eternal.”
“Why are you doing this?” Y/N said. “The world is about to end and we almost stopped it until you ruined it.”
“I was trapped in ice for centuries as your boyfriend and his fellow Eternals killed my kind. I shall have retribution for their sins. They’ll learn what it’s like to be hunted down like wild animals. You won't stop me, Y/N.”
“Wanna bet?” Y/N asked, a red orb in his hand.
“Now, now, no need for that. Let's have a civilized chat. You may call me Kro.”
“I prefer to call you Pennywise.”
“I like you. You have spirit.” Kro turned to Ikaris. “Ikaris, kill your fellow Eternals, starting with the one who’s power I just absorbed. Don’t stop until they’re all dead.” Ikaris nodded and flew in the direction of Druig and the others.
“I’m not gonna let you hurt anyone else,” Y/N said.
“Oh, it’s not me that humanity should fear,” Kro said. “They should fear you and your sister, Wanda. Harbingers of Chaos.”
“How did you know—”
“—I know many things about you, Y/N. I absorbed your energy as well, remember?” Kro looked at Y/N eyes slightly red. “You are part mind singularity. And something else entirely, but still dangerous.”
“Want me to show you just how dangerous I can be?” Y/N asked.
“You and I are a lot alike, Y/N,” Kro said.
“I am nothing like you,” Y/N protested.
“But you are. Whether you want to admit it or not, you and I take power from those undeserving of it. Just like your friends Ajak, Gilgamesh, and Druig.”
“I don’t kill those I absorb energy from. You see, the difference between you and me is that you kill them on purpose,” Y/N said.
“Survival of the fittest.”
“Yeah, well, this time. I’m the apex predator. You're the prey,” Y/N’s hands glowed.
“We shall see about that.” Kro lifted a hand and a red ball of energy came out of it as he pulled Y/N towards him with telekinesis. The Deviant clasped his tendrils onto Y/N’s body and absorbed the energy inside his body.
“Yes! I want all of it, Y/N!” Kro began to glow with Y/N’s power. The young Maximoff could feel his powers being siphoned away from him. Y/N glanced up and saw the Deviant growing and changing with his powers. If he didn't do something, then Kro would be too powerful to stop. Y/N could feel that spark of his power inside himself. The part of himself he would never use, but needed at this moment. He latched onto it. He looked at Kro. “You want my power? Take it! I don't want it.” He poured out everything he had into this effort as Kro relished in his newly acquired powers. “There's more. I want it all.”
“Be careful what you wish for, Kro. You just might get it,” Y/N said as his eyes flashed red as he held out his hands and used his powers, and pulled back the energy Kro stole from him. Kro groaned as all the energy he had just absorbed was taken from him. Y/N used his telekinesis and freed himself from Kro’s tentacles.
The leader of the Deviants looked at Y/N, shocked. “How did you do that?”
“It's my power, Pennywise. Whether I want it or not, it's mine and I won't let you use it to hurt anyone,” Y/N used the energy he took back and concentrated it into a blast of power as he blasted Kro back and onto the floor. Kro groaned from the blast as he looked up as Y/N walked towards him, looking down. “Don't worry, Kro. I won't kill you. That's reserved for someone else.”
With that said, Y/N speeded off after Ikaris and the others as he arrived just in time to see Ikaris grab Druig from the ground by his neck. “I should’ve done this five centuries ago.” He lifted them both in the air as he let Druig go and blasted him with his optical vision to the ground below them. Makkari let out a wail as Druig hit the ground and groaned from the blasts being buried underneath the ground. Ikaris turned and set his sights on the Domo. He flew towards it.
“Iceberg, no!” Y/N cried out as Ikaris’s lasers tore through the underside of the ship, ripping through it easily. He blasted the top part as well as the ship began to fall down and headed towards the ground of the volcano. Sersi held out her hands defensively at the oncoming ship. Makkari used her speed to move her out of the way as Y/N held out his hands in front of him as the ship slammed into him, as he tried to slow it down. Dirt was flying everywhere as Y/N’s feet dug into the dirt of the ashy ground. Y/N grunted as he pushed back, trying to put the Domo to a stop.
When the ship finally stopped, Y/N sighed with relief as Makkari ran inside the Domo and brought everyone out. One by one. Ikaris floated down to the ground. “Druig’s gone. It’s over.”
“Boss, what are you doing?” Kingo asked.
“Ikaris attacked Druig,” Sersi said.
“Hold on Sersi, it wasn't his fault—”
Y/N was interrupted from explaining as Makkari glared at Ikaris and super sped towards him and began to knock him into some rocks. “Makkari, stop!” Y/N chased after them. Ikaris tried to blast her as she slammed him into a wall, pushing his head against it. Ikaris grabbed her arm and threw her off him. Just as she was about to run at him again, Y/N got in between them. He looked at the speedster Eternal and signed to her what was going on. “Ikaris is being mind-controlled by a Deviant. Take Ajak and Kingo and find Druig. Tell Sersi and Phastos to find another way to stop the Emergence. The Deviant is on the west side of the volcano. Thena and Gilgamesh will be happy about that. Bring Sprite to me.”
Makkari nodded and ran back to the others to explain everything Y/N had just told her. Y/N turned to his boyfriend, who glared at him. His blue eyes that Y/N loved so much looked so cold and unfeeling at the moment. “Iceberg. It’s me. It’s Y/N. You don’t have to do this.”
“I know I don’t have to. I want to,” Ikaris said.
“You don’t want to hurt your family. Or me,” Y/N said.
“You’re wrong about that one, Y/N. I do want to hurt you.” Ikaris rose in the air, eyes glowing as he flew towards Y/N. Y/N charged forward as well. Ikaris came down as Y/N dodged his crashing fist. The ground cracked underneath it. He turned to Y/N and attacked him as the younger man tried to block and dodge his attacks. Y/N avoided most of the attacks, but Ikaris got a good hit and punched him in the face. Y/N staggered back as Ikaris grabbed him by the throat. Y/N groaned as Ikaris’s hand closed around his throat. He slammed his fist down on Ikaris’s arm as he let go of Y/N and the young hero slammed his fist into Ikaris’s chest, pushing him back. Ikaris smirked at Y/N. “That's it, Y/N. Come on.” He grabbed Y/N and slammed him against the rocky wall behind them. “Let go, Y/N. Show me what you can really do.”
Everything inside Y/N was urging him to fight back. To shove Ikaris off him and show him what he could really do, but he wouldn't do it. He wasn't going to lose control or hurt Ikaris.
“Don't hold back. Give me all that you have.”
“No. I won't do it,” Y/N said.
“Do it!”
“No, I won’t. I won’t hurt you, Ikaris.”
“Fine, I'll just make you then,” Ikaris said as he rained punches down on Y/N. Y/N tried to hold back as everything in his body was telling to let go. Give into his power. Defend himself. “Stop.” Y/N pleaded. Ikaris wasn’t listening to him as he kept up his attack. Y/N’s eyes flashed red as his voice boomed. “ENOUGH!” Y/N pushed Ikaris back with a telekinetic blast, sending the Eternal sprawling to ground, hard. When Y/N realized what he did; he was horrified. “Ikaris! I’m sorry I didn’t mean to—”
That's when the Volcano erupted.
….
Lava flowed from the sides of the volcano as a debris called tephra rained from the skies. The Eternals prepared to defend themselves. Thena cut through a molten rock with her sword. Phastos created some weapons and blasted the rocks. Ajak, Sprite, and Makkari stood behind Kingo and Gilgamesh as they blasted and punched the falling debris. Sersi turned a rock into some birds. Sersi looked at the ground and then at the volcano. She had to do something. She had to try and stop this. “We do as Y/N said.” She begins walking towards the volcano.
“Phastos. I have to try and stop this. I need to get closer to Tiamut,” she said. Phastos put a hand on her shoulder. “Let's go. I've got you.” They ran towards the volcano.
Gilgamesh looked at Thena. “Y/N said the Deviant is in a cave on the west side of the volcano. What do you say, Thena?”
Thena smiled as she formed a spear and shield. “Let's go hunting then.”
Ajak looked at Makkari as she signed to her. “Take Sprite to Y/N and come back and we'll find Druig. Together.” Makkari nodded as she grabbed a hold of Sprite and super sped her to Y/N and Ikaris, then came back to get Ajak and Kingo and ran them in the direction Druig crashed in.
Ikaris blasted the incoming rocks with his lasers as Y/N punched them or moved them out of the way. Y/N looked at Ikaris. “You have to stop, Iceberg. If you don't, then everyone on this planet will die.”
“If this world ends so a Celestial can rise, then I support Arishem’s design,” Ikaris said.
“This isn't you talking. It's the Deviant.”
“Y/N!” the Avenger turned to see Sprite standing there. Ikaris looked at Sprite as well and smiled. It was a manic one. “Sprite, so glad you could join the party. I wanted to kill Phastos next, but you'll do.” Ikaris fires his optical beams at her as Y/N ran in front of her and put up a shield. Both opposing forces pushed back and forth.
“How do we break the Deviant’s hold on Ikaris?” Sprite asked.
“If Gilgamesh and Thena can kill it first, then Ikaris will be free, but if they can't in time, we have to find another way until they do,” Y/N said. “I have an idea, Sprite. It's a crazy one, but it just might work.”
“What is it?”
Ikaris stopped his attack as Y/N ran up to him and turned back to Sprite as a wave of dirt blinded Ikaris for a moment. Y/N told Sprite about his plan as she looked at him shocked.
Ikaris glared at them when the dirt had cleared. “I'm going to enjoy killing you both.”
Y/N ran towards Ikaris, fist raised as he threw a punch. A punch Y/N knew he would catch. Ikaris caught Y/N’s fist with his palm. He pushed his palm down on Y/N’s fist, cracking his knuckles as he did. Ikaris turned Y/N around and put him in a headlock.
Thena and Gilgamesh walked into the cave Y/N said, near the ocean. It was really quiet inside. The only sounds they could hear were their breathing and the sound of their feet walking on the ground and the sound of the wind. Thena had her weapons raised, ready to fight. Gilgamesh looked at her and smiled. “Remember when we journeyed with Jason and the Argonauts?”
“I remember it well. The Deviants that looked like harpies and one was a giant Kraken.”
“Good times,” Gilgamesh chuckles. He looked at Thena. “Stay here. Say it.”
“Not this time, old friend,” Thena said.
That’s when they heard an eerie voice whisper. “Thena.” The warrior Eternal looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. “Oh, you’ve changed. You’re broken. Damaged. Useless. You can’t protect any of them.”
“Come out and show yourself, you bastard!” Gilgamesh said.
“Oh, Gilgamesh. You’re still alive? Looks like when I kill again, this time I’ll make sure it sticks, Kro said.
Thena sensed the Deviant as she formed a shield, just as Kro tried to punch Gilgamesh with his own cosmic fist. She let out a yell as she swiped at the Deviant with her sword as Gilgamesh attacked with his fists.
“Iceberg, I know you’re in there,” Y/N said as Ikaris’s arm drew tighter around his neck. The other one held his head in place. He finally understood the vision he had earlier today. It wasn’t about finding out how to activate the Uni-Mind. It was to warn Y/N about Ikaris. His vision had shown Ikaris from another universe betraying his friends. And his Ikaris from this universe, like it not, had done the same thing. The only difference was that Ikaris wasn’t doing this of his own free will. This was all Kro’s fault.
Almost like Ikaris was reading his mind; the Eternal leaned down and whispered harshly in Y/N’s ear. “When are you going to realize that this is all me, Y/N? You saw that vision of my counterpart. I’m just like him.”
“You’re nothing like him, Iceberg—”
“—Stop calling me that stupid nickname!” Ikaris roared. “I’ve always hated that nickname. And truth be told, Y/N. I hate you too.”
“You’re lying,” Y/N gasped out as a few tears slid down his face. Ikaris smirked as he could hear Y/N’s soft sobs and his body shook beneath him. “Am I? My life was perfect until you came and messed it all up, but now it doesn’t matter because I’m finally going to be rid of you. Once and for all.”
“Do what you want to me, but please don’t hurt the others, Ikaris. If you wanna hurt somebody, hurt me,” Y/N said.
“Oh, don’t worry, Y/N. I’m gonna kill them nice and slow. Too bad you won’t be around to see it,” Ikaris said.
“No matter what happens, Ikaris. Know that I’ll always love you. No matter what.”
“I’ll tell you a secret, Ducking,” Ikaris mocked the nickname he gave Y/N. “I never loved you. You were just a means to an end. I had an itch, and you scratched it,” Ikaris harshly said to the young Avenger. “I can't believe I wanted to ask you to marry me. It was always and always will be, Sersi.” With that said Ikaris’s eyes flashed gold as he used all his strength and snapped Y/N’s neck. A harsh boom echoed on the volcano as Y/N’s body fell to the ashy ground with a thud.
For a moment, all was quiet as Ikaris was breathing harshly. His eyes were still gold until they returned to their crystal blues. He looked down at Y/N’s unmoving body. It was done. Y/N Maximoff was dead, and Ikaris didn’t care one bit.

RWBY HPTR AU: Timeline
More of my embarrassingly self-indulgent AU. It tackles the timeline of events happening before the show starts. For those for who it's the first time here: most of the antagonists in the show are students at Beacon here, hence why the 63 A.G.W. point is probably a bit confusing, as well as the presence of many, many OCs. Warning: Very Ozpin-centric, especially at the beginning, because I'm insane and constructed a whole backstory for this man. If you want me to add something to the timeline, or have questions about the AU, just ask. ^^
(REFERENCE: A.G.W. stands for After Great War.)
34 A.G.W.: Ozborn Pinhead is born to con-artists living in the mountains of Vale.
45 A.G.W.: King Ozymandias Valenoa dies. On a side-note, Aura Lycoris is born.
46 A.G.W.: Ozymandias/Ozma reincarnates into Ozborn the moment he hits puberty. A few months later, Ozborn runs away from home to join a Collibet Monastery.
(REFERENCE: Collibet is branch of religion in the world of Remnant. It's followers' main belief is that life is to be enjoyed to it's fullest, and they have to help people enjoy it. Their worship is mainly centered on the God of Light.)
51 A.G.W.: Ozborn decides to enroll in Beacon for multiple reasons. He's placed in Team DSOO with Cadmium Duat, Zephyr Olympia, and Jade Sheng. He will become very close to Jade, almost like siblings. She's the one who coins the Ozpin nickname.
52 A.G.W.: Vytal festival happens in Haven. Ozborn ends up being finalist instead of his teammate through circumstances that went against his will, and ends up befriending fellow finalist from Shade Theodore Yellowstone, as well as a Faunus competitor from Haven called Leonardo Lionheart. Theodore is the winner.
53 A.G.W.: During a training mission that brought them to Solitas, Team DSOO ends up working with James Ironwood. Even if difficult to work with, Ozborn forms a tentative friendship with him, which they'll maintain through CCT communications. Ozborn also accidently ends up mentoring a first year named Glynda Goodwitch.
54 A.G.W.: Team STRQ enrolls in Beacon. Ozborn ends up being their mentor (intentionally this time) through a mentorship program at Beacon. Summer Rose is the winner of the Vytal Festival, having beaten Ironwood. After warning them that the truth isn't pretty, Ozborn comes clean about his cycle of reincarnation to Jade, STRQ, Glynda, Theodore, Lionheart and Ironwood, as well as Salem and her immortality. The only one unwilling to get involved is Taiyang Xiao Long, who can see that Ozborn absolutely does not want to be in this situation, thinks he's in way over his head and probably needs to take some distance from Huntsman business. Qrow and Raven are given their bird powers.
55 A.G.W.: Having taken Taiyang's opinion on the situation to heart, Ozborn decides to take a step back and go back in the Monastery he grew up in in order to become a Priest. Jade joins him in a show of support.
57 A.G.W.: Ozborn gets ordained, and he and Jade promptly go on a pilgrimage together with one very clear objective in mind: fuck Salem over. They find her at the end of the year, successfully lie to Salem about Ozborn's identity and fool her into thinking they want to join her side. On a side note, Gretchen Reinhart, Hazel Reinhart and Winter Schnee are all born.
58 A.G.W.: After getting out of Salem the secret to her immortality and the location of the God of Light's pool/former residence, Ozborn and Jade run away in the night in order for Ozborn to get similar immortality. Salem finds out about the betrayal, successfully kills Jade before Ozborn can go in the pool, and permanently cripples him with a magical attack that destroys his leg in a way that the pool's magic isn't able to completely fix. Ozborn still obtains immortality, permanently changing the game. He also sheds away the identity of Ozborn Pinhead, and renames himself after Jade's nickname for him.
59 A.G.W.: Ozpin comes back, and marries Taiyang, Raven Branwen and Summer Rose together. He also enrolls in Beacon as the Myth & Religion teacher.
60 A.G.W.: Desperate to get back at Ozpin after such an humiliating defeat, Salem takes a teenage Aura Lycoris under her wing.
62 A.G.W.: Aura starts the deep-undercover operation of gaining Ozpin's trust, starting by enrolling into Beacon.
63 A.G.W.: Yang Xiao Long, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladona, Jaune Arc, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie, Lie Ren, Arthur Watts, Tyrian Callows, Cinder Fall, Mercury Black, Emerald Sustrai, Roman Brunswick, Trivia Vanille, Ochre Wedjat, Raoul Arsenic, Wilhemia Key and Lys Rosenbed are all born. On a side-note, Ozpin and Qrow start a tentative romantic relationship at the end of the year.
65 A.G.W.: Ruby Rose is born.
66 A.G.W.: Aura graduates, and goes on a small pause in her mission in order to clean up some loose ends on Salem's part.
67 A.G.W.: Summer dies on a mission gone wrong (Unless/until we get something specific, Aura's partially responsible in my AU). Overwhelmed and disillusioned by the demise of the woman she loved, Raven abandons the rest of her family and goes back to the Branwen tribe. Both Taiyang and Qrow are left broken by this series of events, and Qrow ends up falling to alcoholism, leaving Ozpin to pick up the broken pieces of the inner circle. On a side note, both Oscar Pine and Whitley Schnee are born.
68 A.G.W.: Following a convoluted series of events that leaves Oscar orphaned for a total of maybe an hour before Ozpin adopts him, the wizard finally starts getting his shit back together, and starts formulating a plan to get back on his feet properly. On a side-note, Marcus Black steals his son's- Mercury- Semblance.
69 A.G.W.: Ozpin successfully becomes Beacon's headmaster, and promptly pulls strings to put Theodore, Lionheart and Ironwood in the same positions in their respective kingdoms. He also makes Glynda into his successor to the position. Meanwhile, Aura joins his staff as the Study Hall teacher/supervisor. Kuroyuri is destroyed by the Nuckelavee, orphaning Lie Ren and Nora Valkyrie.
72 A.G.W.: Mountain Glenn is destroyed. Ozpin is able to save a few people at the last minute, including the Reinhart twins, thus inspiring Gretchen to become a Huntress. On a side note, James Ironwood becomes General, and thus Atlas' Chief of Armies, and gains a second seat on the Atlesian Council. The rest of the inner circle has mixed feelings about this, mostly negative.
73 A.G.W.: After a very long time of frustration at the Atlesian Council, Hagatha Greene snaps after a combination of her project being denied in favor of Pietro's, and being forced to work with an actual child (10 years old Arthur Watts). She's approached by Salem via Aura, and fakes her death. On a side note, the Brunswick farm is invaded by Apathy, forcing Roman to run away. He'll later stow himself away to Vale and rename himself Torchwick in order to cut ties with his past.
74 A.G.W.: Lionheart is forced to inform the Spring Maiden about what Salem can do. Overwhelmed, she runs away to the Branwen tribe. Lionheart himself latter approached by Greene, who more-or-less blackmails him into joining Salem. He calls Ozpin to know what he's supposed to do, and ends up becoming a double-agent. On a side-note, Gretchen signs up for Beacon, and Winter for Atlas in her first step to distance herself from her family.
76 A.G.W.: Gretchen is severely wounded on a training mission. Since her body was never found, it was assumed she died. Despite knowing that he'd probably be attacked on sight- and he was- Ozpin is able to provide Hazel with a bit of peace concerning the demise of his sister. Unknown to the both of them, Gretchen was actually found by Salem's circle and brought to her in order to get a new underling. On a side-note, the Spring Maiden dies and passes the power to Raven.
77 A.G.W.: Cinder and Arthur meet off-handedly while running away from Atlas for different reasons (Cinder is running from the Madame, Arthur from the military) due to sneaking on the same cargo ship. They separate after. Cinder ends up staying in Mistral, while Arthur wanders around Anima and ends up meeting Tyrian, who's part of a circus. Tyrian ends up following Arthur, who intends on getting to Vale as fast as possible. The two end up becoming fast friends after some initial frostiness. Trivia also runs away from home and meets Roman, and renames herself Neopolitan after the imaginary friend she had in her childhood.
78 A.G.W.: Cinder meets Emerald in the streets of Mistral, and the two bond over their dreams of becoming Huntresses. After Cinders remembers something Arthur told her about Beacon having a program for students like them, the two girls set off for Beacon.
79 A.G.W.: Marcus is hired to assassinate Ozpin, and fails in this task. Some time after, Cinder and Emerald, who recently got to Vale, cross path with Mercury, who's running away from his abusive father after a savage fight with him due to the man cutting off his legs. Marcus joins Salem after.
(AMBIGUOUS TIME PERIOD: Somewhere in the 70s, Aura found and started forming all the members of Team ORKL. I don't have a precise time period, but for those curious, the order she found them in was: Raoul, Lys, Ochre and Whilemia.)
80 A.G.W.: The story starts.

PUMA’s IGNITE NXT Lobstah Pot shoes draw inspiration from the lobster traps found in the waters surrounding Boston during lobster-fishing season.  Along the TPU film and PWRCAGE saddle is a woodgrain emboss, inspired by the wooden pots that fishermen use. Bright colored laces and collar binding represent the multi-colored strings used on the pot posts. The lobster print on the inside of the PWRCAGE represents a bountiful catch after a long day of fishing. The outsole features lobster claws, and the sock liner graphic shows the catch of the day at its final stage before the plate- the boiling pot. We dare you to rock these shoes and not think Boston.

Celebration Water Quality Month August 2021
Tumblr media
Are you aware that August is Water Quality Month? August is the time of year when many people are enjoying the last bits of summer recreational activities involving water. But these bodies of water are threatened by increasing water pollution. The Clean Water Act was passed in 1972 but most people are unaware of the little ways they can pollute their water. Water sustains all life and entire ecosystems depend on it for their survival.
Water Quality Month reminds us to take a long, hard look at what your household and community are doing to protect sources of fresh water.
The History of Water Quality Month
The United Nations has declared 2005-2015 an International Decade for Action 1CWater for Life 1D in order to emphasize the importance of water quality as it relates to sanitation, human rights, geography, urbanization and sustainability. Emphasizing how interlinked water systems are, the Audobon Society points to the dangers of runoff from agriculture, forestry, construction and people 19s personal yards: 1CEach individual household may not produce enough pollution to force a beach closing or cause a fish kill, but the combined output of all the homes in a community can be severe. And, consider that about half of the U.S. population lives within 50 miles of a coastline where runoff flows quickly to the ocean.
This is why watershed protection 14 attention not only to the body of water but the area that drains into it 14 is important. 1D

How to Celebrate Water Quality Month
What can individuals and families can do to prevent water pollution from their homes especially during Water Quality Month? Here 19s a short list of things that you can do at home to help:
Not using antibacterial soaps or cleaning products. Regular soap and water will do the trick. Much of the antibacterial soaps contain a registered pesticide that is known to harm marine life.
Not flushing unwanted or out-of-date medications down the toilet or drain.
Not putting anything but water down storm drains because they carry water to local waterways.
Fixing leaks that drop from cars and putting liners in driveways to collect oil and other materials.
Avoid using pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
Choose nontoxic household products when possible.
Pick up after pets.
Not paving properties.
If you have a private well make sure it is tested and cleaned regularly. There can be bacteria build up in wells.
Read your local water quality report so you know what the water quality is in your area.
Another option could be to gather a group of family, friends, and neighbors and volunteer to clean a local water source. You could bring a picnic (and some beer for the adults) and hold a contest to see who can clean up the most trash and debris, offering a prize to the winning team.
It 19s a great way to get everyone together and enjoy an outdoor day full of fun and good-doing!

British Museum Great Court

British Museum Great Court Building in London
The Great Court at the British Museum turns 20 Date built: 2000 Design: Foster + Partners
Photographs by Nigel Young / Foster + Partners
The British Museum’s Great Court turned twenty on Sunday 6 December 2020. As the departure point for Museum visitors, it has transformed the experience of the Museum. Since it opened, 113 million people have walked under its arched glass roof with its 3,312 triangular panes of glass. On social media, it is the most photographed space in the Museum.
The Great Court is a two-acre space at the heart of Robert Smirke’s Museum. Originally it was conceived as a garden for promenading and discussing but it only lasted for a few years before his brother Sydney constructed the famous Round Reading Room at its centre. As lean-to book storage buildings were added, the Court was lost to the public until 1997 when the Library moved to St Pancras. The opportunity was then realised with our master plan to open it up for the public once more.
Marking the 20th anniversary, Norman Foster, Founder and Executive Chairman, Foster + Partners, said: “The rediscovery of the amazing courtyard of the British Museum – the Great Court – and its rebirth as a new social focus followed what I have often called the historic tradition of change, which respects the past while steadfastly reflecting the spirit of its own time. The simple act of opening it up as the spatial heart of the museum was a catalyst in the Museum’s reinvigoration. The celebration of its 20th anniversary this year is a reflection of its success and we join in congratulating the British Museum for its foresight and vision.”
Spencer de Grey, Head of Design, Foster + Partners, said, “The opening of the Great Court symbolised the excitement about the future that characterised the new Millennium. As a public space, it gave the Museum a new, much needed focus with a new public route through the building and much needed education, cafes, social and community facilities. Every time I visit the Museum, I’m heartened to see the many diverse groups enjoying its naturally lit, sheltered public space with its restored magnificent neo-classical architecture, just as so many others have over the past twenty years.”
Foster + Partners won the competition to reimagine the museum in 1994. The Great Court is in a continuing tradition by the practice working with numerous historic structures such as the Royal Academy of Arts and HM Treasury in London, and the Reichstag in Berlin. Central to our approach is to breathe new life into these buildings as part of our strong sustainable agenda.
The Great Court was opened by HM The Queen on 6 December 2000. At the opening ceremony, she hailed it as “a landmark of the new Millennium” and said “In the life of the nation, the British Museum is a remarkable phenomenon. It is an institution which has had a worldwide reputation for nearly 250 years and it is an enduring source of learning, inspiration and pleasure for millions of people who visit every year from this country and from overseas.
She added: “The Great Court will benefit the millions of people who come to the British Museum every year. We can be confident that it will become a landmark associated with the new millennium.”
To celebrate 20 years of the Great Court, Foster + Partners’ photographer has revisited the Great Court to capture the space 20 years on.
Facts about the Great Court
1. In the original Robert Smirke design for the Museum, the central space within the quadrangle of buildings was supposed to be a garden and an open courtyard for promenading. However, from 1852 lots of bookstacks were built in the space, and along with the Round Reading Room it became the home of the library department.
2. The library which was homed in the courtyard was formally separated into a new body – the British Library – in 1972. It wasn’t until 1997 when it moved to a new home at St Pancras. The Library’s move facilitated the Great Court development.
3. It takes about two weeks to clean the whole roof. It gets cleaned every three months because being in the centre of London, it gets very dirty. Cleaners can’t walk unaided on the roof – instead they have to be hooked on by a harness to a network of cables that run over the roof, which can’t be seen from below.
4. The current design is not the first at the Museum to have proposed using a glass roof. In the early 1850s, Charles Barry, joint architect of the Palace of Westminster, proposed roofing over the courtyard with sheets of glass supported on 50 iron pillars. Inspired by the famous Crystal Palace of 1851, it was to have served as a Hall of Antiquities, but never came to fruition.
5. The roof is made up of 3,312 individual panels of glass, and no two panels are the same shape. They are held together by four miles of steel and there’s enough glass up there to glaze around 500 household greenhouses.
6. The roof stands 26.3 metres above the floor at its highest point – that’s nearly as tall as six of London’s famous double-decker buses.
7. At two acres, it’s the largest covered square in Europe.
8. The 315 tonnes of glass that make up the roof are supported by a 478-tonne steel structure – in total, that’s equivalent to seven-and-a-half blue whales
9. During construction of the new space, 20,000 m3 of demolition material was removed from inside the courtyard, equivalent to twice the volume of the Egyptian Sculpture Gallery or twelve Olympic swimming pools.
10. On completion, the redesign grew the Museum floor space by 40%. For the first time in more than 150 years, the new two-acre Great Court gave visitors the chance to move freely around the main floor of the Museum.
11. The Great Court can also get dark when the roof is covered in snow, so floodlights are fixed around the top of the Round Reading Room, illuminating the space.
12. The cafés in the Great Court serve over 1 million hot drinks each year.
13. Famous guests to the Great Court include HRH The Prince of Wales, Nelson Mandela, Sir David Attenborough, President George W Bush, Angelina Jolie and Katy Perry.
14. In 2004 Great Court hosted a special display of costumes from the Wolfgang Petersen epic film Troy. These included the armour worn by Brad Pitt as Achilles, one of Helen of Troy’s gowns – played by Diane Kruger, and costumes worn by Eric Bana as Hector, Peter O’Toole as Priam and Brian Cox as Agamemnon. The film went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design.
15. When The Queen opened the Great Court in 2000, our Visitor Services staff had the chance to put on the Windsor Livery, which can be worn on special occasions. It was granted to the Museum by King William IV in 1835, and consists of a blue coat with a scarlet collar and cuffs.
16. Engraved into the floor is an extract from ‘The Two Voices’ by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It says “and let thy feet, millenniums hence, be set in midst of knowledge”.
17. The £100 million project was supported by grants of £30 million from the Millennium Commission and £15.75 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
18. The after-party of the world premiere of the James Bond film Spectre was held in the Great Court, with a Day of the Dead theme. All the stars including Daniel Craig attended.
19. In 2008, the Olympic Torch passed through the Great Court as part of its world tour from Olympia in Greece to the Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
20. The space has been the home of numerous installations over the last 20 years, including the Tree of Life in 2005, built from decommissioned firearms from the Mozambican civil war, by artists Kester, Hilario Nhatugueja, Fiel dos Santos and Adelino Serafim Maté. Other installations have included a scale model of the ancient site of Olympia in 2004, a Volkswagen Beetle in 2014, Zak Ové’s Moko Jumbie figures in 2015, and Esther Mahlangu’s BMW Art Car 12 in 2016.

What is Tensile Structures? – Benefits Types, Shapes and Advantages of Tensile Structures.
Tumblr media
A tensile structure is construction of elements carrying solely tension and no compression or bending. The term tensile shouldn't be confused with boldness, that is most frequently used for roofs and canopies, tensile structures are capable of making distinctive personal and public areas. Tensile Structural is with each tension and compression components. The ability of tensile material structures creates a visible focus of attention and might be used for a range of applications from lined walkways for airfield arrivals to out of doors eating canopies conjointly it's helpful for automobile parking, Stadium, pool shades and lots of a lot of. Imaginative styles will be made because of the few elements that are needed. The minimum variety of supports implies that tensile structures will cowl expansive areas. Tensile material structures are versatile, light-weight compared to different kinds of construction, however conjointly very robust. they’re designed to face up to even the foremost severe weather, providing protection from each the rain and sun. Tensile material structures victimisation material that is actinic ray riveting and has reflective properties, guaranteeing protection from the sun. Tensile material canopies are obtainable in a very large choice of colors, ideal for making esthetically appealing structures to suit with existing close or to make a put attentiveness.
Advantage of Tensile Structure
1. Versatile vogue Aesthetics virtually unlimited kinds of distinctive elegant forms are finishing owing to the distinctive versatile characteristics of fine arts membrane. Also, fewer support columns manufacture a great deal of helpful, aesthetically pleasing areas. 2. Outstanding underhandedness in daylight, the membrane's underhandedness offers soft delicate naturally lit areas reducing interior lighting costs. At night, the artificial lighting creates associate shut exterior luminescence. 3. Shortened Construction Schedules incorporating the foremost stylish construction techniques, large unreal membrane panels are place in quickly to shorten installation schedules. Likewise, material removal is accomplished merely. 4. Value edges Lightweight structures are and a great deal of value effective answer than ancient building materials giving building householders reduced costs. Materials, like photo-catalytic membranes, can facilitate forestall temperature rise to boot as deflate maintenance costs due to their self-cleaning properties. 5. Long Span Structures Lightweight membrane might be an economical answer that desires less steel to support the roof, facultative long spans of column-free house. 6. Earthquake Resistant Lightweight tensile membrane structures bear less building load than ancient roofing materials and so the membrane's snap offers further earthquake resistance. Pick engaging tensile material Structure for Your geographical point, Home & business advanced As being a pacesetter inside the sphere of Tensile material style, realize Tensile structure lives & breathe material structures so as that people may exclusively seem precise to work in AN geographical point roofed with engaging tensile material. The installation of the fabric tensile roof done by the company is known for excellence and strength. The organization understands that presently homes and factories required distinctive roofs thus as they need to trendy and efficient. The only real shibboleth of the organization is to supply absolute best quality tensile structure services as per the necessity of purchasers. Services Offered: The organization is dynamically mounting its admiration inside the market and providing a comprehensive vary of services further as Tensile material Structure cover cowl, modern roofs etc. due to its team of consultants and veteran staff, it ensures maintenance, producing, and cleanup of structures. It’s incorporating Brooding again efforts and trying to serve absolute best quality services to varied business & residential establishments. The services offered by the firm unit given below. A tensile structure could also be a structure elements carrying exclusively tension and no compression or bending. A tensile membrane structure is most often used as a roof, as they'll economically and fantastically span large distances. This type of structure is sometimes found in sports facilities, storage and storage buildings, and exhibition venues. Tensile Structures History The first development of wise calculations of stresses and deformations of tensile structures, shells and membranes by a Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhov. He designed eight tensile structures and thin-shell structures exhibition pavilions for the Nizhny town truthful of 1896, covering the globe of twenty seven, 000 sq. meters. In recent days, tensile structures have found nice quality and are used in many places. variety of the notable building unit Munich Olympia Park, The Millennium Dome London and Ashford Designer Outlet United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. 1. Tensile Structures Shapes Highly effective for covering large areas, a spherical tension structure is unquestionably notable by its tent-like form. Form designs can feature either single or multiple masts. For every vogue selections, membranes are tensioned between a hoop at the highest and conjointly the lower perimeter support columns. Cones are significantly effective in areas that need to fits high rain or snow load rules. 2. Hyper or Anticlastic Structure As one of the foremost common of all tensioned membrane structures due to its aesthetically pleasing look, hyper (hyperbolic parabolic) forms are notable for his or her excellence with form retention and water runoff. These structures suppose two opposing curvatures, put together referred to as anticlastic, for his or her stability. This type of structure is correct for shade over seating areas or high traffic walkways. 3. Parallel Arch or vault Structure These symmetrical curved parallel arch designs sort degree incredibly sensible tensioned membrane cowl that will span long distances sort of a field house or smaller areas like degree entry. Counting on the spans, a vault system is an awfully efficient due to incorporate tensile membrane on a project due to the repetitive nature of the design and efficiencies of materials. 4. Cable net & Membrane Structure For long-span tensile membrane roofing applications usually found in stadiums or large areas, 3D cable net or cable grid structures are degree economical declare light-weight tensile style. Advantages of Tensile Structures Shelter of atmosphere (sun, rain, wind) Uncrowdedness usually, prospects to vogue light-weight effects Light-weight weight & strength Endless sort prospects, catching character

The Track Race in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (1927)
youtube
In Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci fi dystopia Metropolis, there is a scene rather near the beginning which shows a track race (at 7 minutes 06 seconds in the video above). This race is undertaken by the sons of the rich, in their Olympian paradise. Below, as the viewer has just seen, hordes of workers are toiling in dehumanising factories, chained to the machines. The on-screen text tells us:
As deep as lay the workers’ city below the earth, so high above it towered the complex named the “Club of the Sons,” with its lecture halls and libraries, its theaters and stadiums.
I love this scene. I keep watching it, over and over, to try to puncture some of its meaning. What can be said? Clearly, in the world of Metropolis, sport is the preserve of the rich minority. The bodies of the proletariat are abused by torturous wage-labour. They have no control, no determination of their own physical destinies. In contrast, the sons of the rich are free to develop their athletic capacities. Yet they do so in a manufactured paradise – the clean, regulated, sterile environment of the track. These are not fell runners. For we can assume that in the future depicted by Lang, there are no fells. Real wilderness has disappeared. As the on-screen text announces,
Fathers, for whom every revolution of a machine wheel meant gold, had created for their sons the miracle of the Eternal Gardens.
The Eternal Gardens, through which we watch these children of the rich frolicking in freedom, are produced, a kind of artificial, theme-park-like second nature. Free to sport and cavort in their constructed Olympian world above, the sons of the future bourgeoisie develop their bodies for peak performance. While the workers’ bodies are involuntarily exhausted and abused to the point of depletion, the athletes push their bodies voluntarily to their limits in the race for physical supremacy. This is the clean sport of totalitarianism, as also seen in Leni Riefenstahl’s propaganda film of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Olympia. This is sport which the state can ‘see’, as James C. Scott might put it: it can be mapped, gridded, regulated, measured. If fell running – and, for that matter, adventure racing, windsurfing and skateboarding – is what Pronger calls a ‘post-sport’, then it would have no place in the totalitarian future of Lang’s Metropolis. As Michael Atkinson explains,
‘Post sport athletics challenge modernist physical cultural ideologies and practices, and challenge boundaries demarcating the sacred and profane, the raw and the cooked, the civilised and the primordial through rigorous movement. Whereas modern sports practices contain discipline and enframe physical bodies as spectacular resources to be deployed toward the attainment of competitive, rule-bound and performative outcomes, post-sport athletics mostly eschew the modernist body-as-resource schematic. Post-sport athletics can be moral, reflexive, community-oriented, green, spiritual, anarchic and potentially eros-filled physical cultural practices. They quite often adorn the guise of mainstream sports forms and techniques of play (e.g. swimming, running or cycling) – what Wheaton (2004) describes as ‘residual’ elements of modernist sport – but their individual or collective experience bears little similarity. Post-sports are thus sinewy and connected athletics that inflect anti-commercial, co-operative ideologies over the competitive. They do not fetishise advanced material technology, are socially inclusionary rather than hierarchical, process-oriented, holistic and internally differentiated in their orientation and engagement.’
What do you think? Is this dichotomy between modernist sport and post-sports a valid one? It’s fun to imagine a sequel to Metropolis that sees a revolutionary band of worker-fell-runners tramping through the Eternal Gardens, Kinder Scout trespass-style, turning second nature into a new wilderness while engaging in a post-sport practice that emphasises existential exploration and anti-authoritarian communality over patriarchal hierarchy…
but, then, I’m a romantic.

📍Paris, France 🇫🇷: Explore it’s sweetness
“Once in a lifetime experience, don’t miss the authenticity of every places”
Tumblr media
T’was my first time in Paris . Amidst of it’s popularity and unforgettable scenic, you’ll never want to go back to work.
Unfortunately, our flight was delayed. After 18 hrs of flight from Singapore, here we go Paris! It’s quiet long flight yet enjoyable. 13hrs from Singapore to Warsaw then to Paris. You can watch movies, read books or even sleep in the plane.
This is it. I’m IN. I’m in Paris, France.
Stayed in Courbevioe Street and booked it thru an airbnb. Better than hotels and you can save more if you are in a budget trip. Also, easy and convenient for backpacking style.
Tumblr media
Very homy place, clean, quiet and affordable for 2 people. It’s 20minutes walk towards the metro station. Not that far, for me lols. Ms. Daniela was very accomodating, friendly and kind.
Below are the beautiful places that we’ve visited. You shoudn’t miss to see it on your own eyes.
1. Sacré-Cœur
Paris, France
Tumblr media
A popular landmark and the second most visited monument in Paris, the basilica stands at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city.
The basilica was designed by Paul Abadie. Construction began in 1875 and was completed in 1914. The basilica was consecrated after the end of World War I in 1919.
2. Moulin Rouge
82 Boulevard de Clichy, Paris, France
Tumblr media
The original house, which burned down in 1915, was co-founded in 1889 by Charles Zidler and Joseph Oller, who also owned the Paris Olympia. Close to Montmartre in the Paris district of Pigalle on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement, it is marked by the red windmill on its roof. The closest métro station is Blanche.
The iconic windmill gives a glimpse into the otherworldly past of Paris, where Montmarte was once a tiny village full of windmills. Almost unbelievably, there once were around 15 windmills on the Montmartre Butte used to grind wheat, press grapes and materials for factories. There are two remaining windmills today: the Radet and the Blute-Fin.
The Moulin Rouge dazzled the people of Paris as the capital’s first electric building. It was designed by Adolphe Léon Willette, whose ideas for a brightly coloured electric-powered facade would become an emblem of Paris forever. When the dance shows started at 10pm, the cabaret would light up Place Blanche in a burst of colour never seen before.
3. Eiffel Tower
7th Arrondissement, Paris, France
Tumblr media
Constructed from 1887 to 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but it has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world. The Eiffel Tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.91 million people ascended it in 2015.
The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris. Its base is square, measuring 125 metres (410 ft) on each side. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to become the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was finished in 1930. It was the first structure to reach a height of 300 metres. Due to the addition of a broadcasting aerial at the top of the tower in 1957, it is now taller than the Chrysler Building by 5.2 metres (17 ft). Excluding transmitters, the Eiffel Tower is the second tallest free-standing structure in France after the Millau Viaduct.
4. Arc de Triomphe
Place Charles de Gaulle (formerly Place de l'Étoile)
Tumblr media
The Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile — the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues.
The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
Paris's Arc de Triomphe was the tallest triumphal arch until the completion of the Monumento a la Revolución in Mexico City in 1938, which is 67 metres (220 ft) high. The Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang, completed in 1982, is modelled on the Arc de Triomphe and is slightly taller at 60 m (197 ft). La Grande Arche in La Defense near Paris is 110 metres high. Although it is not named an Arc de Triomphe, it has been designed on the same model and in the perspective of the Arc de Triomphe. It qualifies as the world's tallest arch.
5. Louvre Museum
Musée du Louvre, 75001 Paris, France
Tumblr media
Musée du Louvre is the world's largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. A central landmark of the city. Approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 72,735 square metres (782,910 square feet). In 2018, the Louvre was the world's most visited art museum, receiving 10.2 million visitors.
Tumblr media
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an exhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the works being royal and confiscated church property. Because of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed in 1796 until 1801.
6. Notre Dame de Paris
Parvis Notre-Dame – place Jean-Paul-II, Paris
Tumblr media
Meaning "Our Lady of Paris", often referred to simply as Notre-Dame. Considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Its pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttress, its enormous and colourful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style. Major components that make Notre Dame stand out include one of the world's largest organs and its immense church bells.
The cathedral's construction was begun in 1160 under Bishop Maurice de Sully and was largely complete by 1260, though it was modified frequently in the following centuries. In the 1790s, Notre-Dame suffered desecration during the French Revolution; much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. In the 19th century, the cathedral was the site of the coronation of Napoleon I, and the funerals of many French presidents.
While undergoing renovation and restoration, the roof of Notre-Dame caught fire on the evening of 15 April 2019. Burning for around 15 hours, the cathedral sustained serious damage, including the destruction of the flèche (the timber spire over the crossing) and most of the lead-covered wooden roof above the stone vaulted ceiling.
Souveniers are just around the corner. Different prices but found out the cheapest stores are in Blanche Area. Surely, you will get lower prices.
Tumblr media
Souvenir shop along Champs-Elysées Street
Champs-Elysées where you can find shopping centers in between of Arc de Triomphe and Louvre Museum like Prada, Mont Blanc, Louis Vuitton, H&M and many more.
And lastly, may be you’re asking about the food? Coz food is life-isn’t it? Good thing in Paris you can have set menus like 2-3 course that costs more or less 20€. The portions are quiet big and makes your tummy satisfied. You just check the restaurant first that fits your appetite.
Very important thing when you are in Paris- you must be careful of pickpocketers. They are everywhere and you can’t identify them. Keep your valuable things secured. It’s your responsibility. Watch left and right when you walk the street. It’s better that you have a companion when you roam around the place.
Paris is a good place indeed to visit. Those landmarks and beautiful places are awesome. You can have a cup of cafe latte seating in a bench near Eiffel Tower or enjoying the beauty of architectural scenery in every corner.
If I can, why you can’t.
If you have any questions about this trip or recommendations, please don’t hesitate to drop a comment.

Listen to the Playmoss playlist: FUN A DAY 2019 #1: 'Bitter Grace' by livelyandcolorful ► LISTEN She wasn’t particularly tall, but she was lanky, and she had ‘olive tone’ skin (“…whatever that means,” I remember thinking the first time I heard the expression as a kid); she was seemingly a jumble of skinny arms and legs that were covered in light blonde peach fuzz and stuck out from her uniform in an awkward, endearing kind of way. Her hair was long, a strange light reddish color (but then, a lot of middle school girls had red in their hair at some point during the 1994-1995 school year and television season, during which the one season of My So-Called Life aired), and it wasn’t curly, but it refused to lie flat or hang straight. Her eyebrows, even lighter than her hair, were barely there, and her eyes were dark and small and sleepy. Her shoulders always seemed to be relaxed, or too relaxed, hunched, and her lips were always pressed tight together.
She wore the same uniform as the rest of us girls, but she looked and seemed different than everyone else at school, and I felt different when I was near her. For a long time, I’d assumed that it was her gift for on-trend, cutting edge accessorizing: she wore plastic drug store barrettes in her hair (I would find out the hard way the following summer that my hair was too curly and thick for them), chipping black, grey, and red polish on her short nails, and black jelly bracelets, and a calculator watch like some of the boys in my class wore on her wrists. I would stare at them when we ran into each other in the girls’ room after recess, while I listened to her talk about Nirvana; her face didn’t seem all tight and tired when she talked about them. I wasn’t really friends with her, but some of the kids I talked to at school were friends with her and the other eighth graders, and they had it on good authority that when she took ‘Frances’ as her confirmation name (everyone’s confirmation names were displayed on the wall outside the eighth grade classrooms, written on the construction paper leaves on a cardboard tree), it was for Frances Bean, though her official story was that it was for St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment.
We went to different high schools, and I only saw her once after we’d both graduated, on the bus, on a random September afternoon. Her hair was still that same auburn color, but it was a little shorter, tucked behind her ears, and her bangs were very short. She was wearing ripped jeans and a flannel button-down shirt over a Hole t shirt, and carrying what looked like a math text book and a notebook. I watched as she got on the bus, found a seat across from me, and she started doodling in the notebook. In retrospect, she looked notably more Kurt than Courtney, so to speak, and I was quietly enthralled by it, but couldn’t articulate why. I didn’t say anything to her, but she looked up from her notebook and grinned at me, a sort of ‘we’re both on this bus’ kind of grin. I knew at the time that it didn’t mean very much, or anywhere near what I didn’t even know what I wanted it to mean. When I think about it now, I think, she was kind; how cool is that?

The Importance of Cleaning
Office & Building Cleaning
Your employees and customers deserve the best, which is why you should depend on Community Clean for your office and building cleaning. A clean workplace is a happy workplace, and it encourages employees to be productive and efficient in their day-to-day tasks. It also displays that your company cares about the health and safety of its workers. These points are invaluable to companies that thrive off of productivity and motivation.
Are you struggling to keep your office or building clean?
Are you wondering if Community Clean cleaning services can help?
If you run a small business, you may be conflicted on whether you should invest your hard earned money in janitorial cleaning services. Although you may not realize it yet, there are a lot of benefits of using a professional cleaner in your building.
Below we’ll look at the top 4 reasons you need to have commercial cleaning services for your business.
1. Ensure a Great First Impression
One of the top benefits of using our professional cleaning service for your office is that it will help ensure that you give an excellent first impression to any clients or associates who enter your office.
First impressions can be crucial when it comes to business. A poorly maintained or dirty office can give business prospects and leads the wrong idea.
By hiring Community Clean, professional cleaners, you’ll always be working in a clean environment and will present a high image out into the world.
2. Make Your Team More Productive
With Community Clean, your workplace will also be more productive. When the cleaning staff comes in, they won’t get in the way. They’ll be mostly unnoticed, helping to make things go more smoothly behind the scenes.
When using Community Clean company, your employees will no longer waste their own time on cleaning tasks. There won’t need to be a designated time for employees to clean up the office space. Employees will be able to focus on other essential duties that move your business forward instead.
A clean, uncluttered office will be much more comfortable and easier to work in and will lead to your workers getting more done.
3. Commercial Cleaning Services Are Much More Thorough
Our cleaners will dig deeper and make your office much cleaner than other employees likely would be able to. They are professionals after all, and they know exactly how to look into the nooks, crannies, cracks, and crevices that you may miss.
Keeping equipment, bathrooms, break rooms, and other areas clean now can help your office avoid the need for costly repairs or renovations later on. During their cleaning, they’ll be able to check for any maintenance that is needed, and if any additional cleaning supplies are required, they’ll be able to handle that as well.
A poorly maintained office environment can build up a lot of grime over time, but a cleaning staff will be able to ensure your office stays in tip-top shape.
4. Keep Your Employees Happy
Keeping your employees happy should be a top priority, and the truth is that they will probably be a lot more comfortable when you hire professional cleaners. They’ll no longer have to worry about the cleaning tasks that some of them may begrudgingly do, and they’ll thank you for it.
Working in a thoroughly clean environment can be a big help, and a clutter-free work space can make them more productive. A clean and uncluttered work space can have a surprisingly good impact on employee morale and their mental well-being when working.
Community Clean cleaning services are an excellent choice for small businesses, and it can be well worth the expense. Commercial office cleaning comes with a lot more benefits than you may realize at first glance. It can make your business brighter, more productive and more comfortable than ever before!

British Museum Building: Great Court London
British Museum in London, Robert Smirke Building, Great Court Picture, Architects, Location, Date
British Museum London Architecture
BM Building, Bloomsbury, England design by Robert Smirke architect, UK
7 Dec 2020
British Museum Building in London
The Great Court at the British Museum turns 20 Date built: 2000 Design: Foster + Partners

The courtyard at the centre of the British Museum was one of Londons long-lost spaces. Originally an open garden, soon after its completion in the mid-nineteenth century it was filled by the round Reading Room and its associated bookstacks. Without this space the Museum was like a city without a park. This project is about its reinvention.
In terms of visitor numbers over five million annually – the British Museum is as popular as the Louvre in Paris or the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In the absence of a centralised circulation system this popularity caused a critical level of congestion throughout the building and created a frustrating experience for the visitor. The departure of the British Library to St Pancras provided the opportunity to clear away the bookstacks and to recapture the courtyard to give the building a new public focus.
The Great Court is entered from the Museums principal level, and connects all the surrounding galleries. Within the space – the largest enclosed public space in Europe – there are information points, a bookshop and a caf. At its heart is the magnificent space of the restored Reading Room, now an information centre and library of world cultures, which for the first time in its history is open to all. Broad staircases encircle the Reading Room and lead to a gallery for temporary exhibitions with a restaurant above. Below the level of the Court are the new Sainsbury African Galleries, an education centre, and facilities for schoolchildren.

The glazed canopy that makes all this possible is a fusion of state-of-the-art engineering and economy of form. Its unique geometry is designed to span the irregular gap between the drum of the Reading Room and the courtyard facades, and forms both the primary structure and the framing for the glazing, which is designed to maximise daylight and reduce solar gain.
As a cultural square, the Court also resonates beyond the confines of the Museum, forming a new link in the pedestrian route from the British Library to Covent Garden and the river. To complement this civic artery, the Museums forecourt has been freed from cars and restored to form a new public space. Like the Great Court it is open to the public from first thing in the morning to early evening, creating a major amenity for London.

Special Exhibitions Centre The Museum has built an enviable reputation in recent years for once in a lifetime exhibitions such as The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army and Hadrian: Empire and Conflict as well as smaller, thought-provoking shows highlighting contemporary middle-eastern art, Japanese crafts and American print-making.
The Museum has been able to use the Reading Room as a temporary exhibition venue to house some of these exhibitions but is in urgent need of a flexible purpose-built exhibition space to accommodate more visitors to ensure a comfortable and engaging experience. The North West Development includes a temporary exhibition space of over 1,000 sqm which will allow the Museum to cement its status as a leader in curating, designing and displaying special exhibitions.
Science and Conservation Laboratories The British Museum has the largest conservation and science department in the country, covering an extensive range of materials, both ancient and modern, from the Museum’s huge and varied collection. The department is internationally recognised for its ground-breaking work, creating new knowledge and new techniques that are shared with museums thought the UK and the world.
Current facilities are in need of updating and the state of the art laboratories, studios and library facilities in the development will ensure the Museum can continue to care for and research its collection. It will also allow for an expansion of the Museum’s highly regarded conservation training programme.
Logistics and Collection handling The British Museum is committed to lending objects from the collection within the UK and across the world. The Museum lends more of its collection than any other museum or gallery, 4,000 objects to 150 institutions in 2008. A dedicated area for the preparation of loan material will ensure the safety of the thousands of objects brought into, and sent out of the Museum every year. Secure loading bays will provide direct access to the new special exhibition space, conservation and science facilities and the rest of the Museum.
Study collection storage The world collection of the British Museum includes upwards of seven million artefacts. The majority of these objects comprise the study collection, objects which are not on permanent display for conservation reasons or because they are primarily an academic resource. On-site facilities to house the study collections will provide improved access for students, academics and the public, as well as modern, environmentally controlled systems able to maintain the stable conditions necessary for the preservation of objects.
