The Allure Designer Bags in Australia: A Fashion Statement
Few things in the fashion industry are as prestigious and alluring as designer bags in Australia. Many people view these opulent accessories as prestige, style, and workmanship markers rather than merely useful objects. The market for luxury bags has exploded in Australia, where fashionistas are drawn to both domestic and foreign labels.
The environmental benefits of second hand designer in Melbourne are among the strongest arguments in favor of it. One of the biggest causes of environmental problems is the fashion industry; encouraging secondhand shopping helps address this issue.

Unusual Discoveries That Provide Affordable Support for Local Businesses
The opportunity to find unique items is one of the main attractions of Australia consignment store. Whether you're looking for rare accessories, antique apparel, or unusual home décor pieces, consignment stores frequently provide things that aren't available in traditional retail establishments.
Customers may get designer goods and high-quality products without having to pay a premium price tag at consignment businesses, which usually provide items at much cheaper costs than retail. This facilitates trying out various looks or brands without having to make a significant financial commitment.
Advice on Purchasing Used Designer Items
Prices and Brands: Learn about the brands and what their average prices are. With this information, you can get a decent price and make sure you're not spending too much for something.
Verify Authenticity: When purchasing, particularly online, keep an eye out for indications of authenticity, such as materials, stitching quality, and brand tags. If you're not sure, don't be afraid to request more pictures or information.
Examine the shape: Before purchasing any used goods, make sure they are in good shape. Check for damage, stains, or wear. The majority of trustworthy retailers will give thorough details of the item's state.
Be Open-Minded: Buying used goods frequently calls for patience and an open mind. Sometimes the greatest pieces are found in unexpected places, although you might not immediately locate what you're looking for.
Melbourne's second-hand designer clothes market is flourishing, providing a fascinating fusion of affordability, sustainability, and individual taste. In addition to creating a wardrobe that expresses your style, selecting gently used clothing also helps ensure that fashion in the future is more sustainable.

March 2nd 1838, an advert was placed for a new joint stock banking firm in Glasgow: marking the founding of the Clydesdale Banking Company.
Two months later, the Clydesdale Banking Company opened for business in Glasgow - and Edinburgh - in May 1838. The history of the bank recalls that it was to be ‘chiefly a local bank - having few branches - but correspondents everywhere’. The bank was initially viewed as the brainchild of a collective of Glasgow businessmen, described as ‘liberal radicals … who were active in the government and charities of the city’. James Lumsden was the lynchpin behind the bank’s formation, a councillor who would later hold the role of Lord Provost of Glasgow.
Throughout the 19th century, Clydesdale hoovered up smaller banks, and was purchased by the Midland Bank in 1920, before merging with the North of Scotland Bank in 1950.
Mergers across the banking industry reduced the number of Scottish banks and by 1969, Clydesdale was the smallest after the Bank of Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The bank were the first of our banks to start issuing a “polymer” notes in March 2015, and saw them immediately being put on auction site Ebay fetching up yo £100!! Since then the novelty has worn off.
It was eventually sold to the National Bank of Australia in 1987 but has now been separated again and was sold off last year again becoming an independent. In 2018 it was announced that Clydesdale Bank’s holding company CYBG would acquire Virgin money for £1.7 billion in an all-stock deal, and that the Clydesdale Bank will be getting phased out as a brand with Virgin Money being the new name of all the brands they own.
As more and more banks are disappearing from the High Streets, Clydesdale/ Virgin have recently closed 31 branches in locations across the UK, Airdrie, Banchory, Broughty Ferry, Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, Galashiels, Milngavie, Musselburgh, Oban, Portree, Stenhousemuir and Wick have all been lost in the last 6 moths.
While Clydesdale are still issuing notes the brand's owner, is retreating from its contracts to supply cash machines run by rival lenders. No longer will you get a crisp Clydesdale polymer note when drawing cash out of other ATM’s on the link system, the contract to supply them is being taken over by the other issuers of notes, Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of Scotland. The move to infection-free contactless card payments during the Covid crisis has accelerated the reduced use of readies. With Clydesdale Bank no longer being a trading brand the name will continue to appear on the notes you get out of Virgin Money cash machines, but not any others.
The idea of issuing a Virgin Money banknote must have appealed to Richard Branson, particularly if his cheerful physog appeared on it with an airliner or balloon. But that's not happening. Virgin Money is not saying how much cash it's retiring as notes are returned, but it will be a big reduction from the £2.3bn which I'm understand is now in circulation - around 47% of the Scottish banknote total.
You wouldn't bet on it continuing indefinitely, because it's an odd and expensive advertising and marketing tool to support a brand being consigned to history, so in my opinion the notes will be gone from the Scottish scene before too long so anyone out there who still might have the old paper ones hang onto them, they might just be worth a bob or two in the not too distant future.

Wednesday 11th December 2024
Various people who were not meteorologists, but those just displaying an interest and opinion in the subject, had warned us of the impending tropical rainstorms coming today and tomorrow. Perhaps they needed to consult their slide rulers further because in the event, it was fine. Warm and sticky, perhaps, but dry. We had planned to drive the short distance to the Finch Hatton Gorge to take a look at the waterfall. The approach by road is along some unmade roads, so no mention to Mr Avis, and also through 3 or 4 fords, also don't mention to Mr Avis. Our concern was that if it rained anything like the amount the prophets of doom were suggesting, the fords might become torrents, from which our little Renault would require the retrieval expertise of the RNLI. We needn't have worried because the rains did not appear, and apart from some minor splashing, albeit at the cost of Mr Avis blood pressure, the Renault retained full contact with the tarmac and emerged unscathed on the other side. I think these rental people are far too highly strung. The excursion was worth the effort and risk to the nuts, bolts, and infrastructure. The Renault was left in the car park while we conducted the rest of the 2.8 km round trip to the falls, uphill, and through rainforest on foot. The tall, swaying tropical palms and sweeping ferns were dramatic as we climbed up and away from our Renault. Then, just as we were wondering just how much further we could possibly climb, a timber viewing platform emerged from the undergrowth and the sound of gushing water thunderous as it hit and bounced on rock, came to our ears. It may well have not been the most dramatic waterfall ever, but the way it twisted and turned on its descent over and around the rock was impressive. We clambered down to the water's edge for closer inspection, just as a tour guide showed up with a bus load of bikinis intent on a plunge. Time to leave, we thought, and so to the 1.4 km walk back to car for our luncheon where we noticed a medium-sized goanna already with its bib and tucker on.
We had been told that if we got ourselves down to Broken River, there would be a good chance of seeing a Platypus. But first, as we climbed the road through Netherdale over the Dalrymple Heights towards Eungelia, we came to a lookout that faced a massive scenic valley looking back in the direction we had travelled. It is here that the Queensland Government had plans to build dams for the controversial Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project. A petition was raised, meetings held, feelings ran high, and finally, to a jubilant community, the scheme was justifiably cancelled, saving the homes and businesses of many an inhabitant of Netherdale. It was seen as too costly and not economically viable. From our lookout, we could survey the countryside that would have been consigned to a watery grave, countryside that is extremely beautiful to behold. The next stop was indeed Broken River and home to the said duck-billed platypus. This is an incredibly rare animal, of course only found in Australia. Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) is more precisely found in Eastern Australia and Tasmania. We were given instructions to the point in this piece of water where specimens have recently been spotted, and there he was. They tend to find things that need eating, such as worms, larvae, freshwater shrimps, bring them to the surface, and consume them there. Then off they go to the bottom, bubbles are seen, then the process repeats. They will eat 20% of their own body weight each day! Imagine! Fascinating to watch. They are mammals that lay eggs, and the males have a spur on their back leg that delivers extremely painful venom. Not nice and cuddly, then.
We then drove the long wiggly route back across the beuatifully green tree clad ranges to Finch Hatton and our evening repast.
A very interesting day.
ps. The storm arrived at 8pm. It might be set for the night, but it is still very warm and humid. We have a backup plan for tomorrow not involving too much outdoor stuff.

Yeah see there were a bunch of us who were very loudly saying ‘this war is bullshit’ before the war even started. And then continued to say it when it did. Many everyday people, but lots of intellectuals, academics, people whose job it is to think about shit like this. A handful of celebrities, but not too many because the ones that did speak out were ridiculed like Susan Sarandon was. Or were outright cancelled, like The Chicks.
There’s a reason why we were all quoting 1984 at the time because it felt like you were going crazy, and even here in Australia (our government were enthusiastic participants) there was a worry that old sedition laws would be used to silence critics.
I read a breakdown by Naomi Klein at the time, 2004. Baghdad Year Zero. I haven't reread since, but I recall it made a good argument that the war in Iraq was orchestrated in part to establish a kind of neocolonial utopia, a year zero that would benefit all the corporate entities and investment groups involved in the post-war plan. (and that it immediately failed)
They knew exactly what they wanted from Iraq when they invaded. There isn't any confusion but feigned confusion, as those responsible wish to evade responsibility. Consign it to the past.
I missed most of the Iraq war due to being a baby, but every time I read about it I start wondering why we aren’t all talking about it all of the time

The simplicity and ease of present-day courier websites make the Medicine Courier From Noida To Australia process easy and hassle-free.
Cost is usually a problem for shipping overseas, especially for medical products. Some courier companies in Noida actually have competitive prices, however, without compromising on speed or security. Prices will depend on the weight of the shipment, delivery speed required, packing, and the Australian destination city. Regular customer and bulk shipping discounts are also offered by some, lowering Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia for regular use.
Another significant advantage of using a specialized service is customer service. From pickup in Noida to delivery in Australia, having a support team at their fingertips makes all the difference. They guide customers through packaging procedures and documentation needs and give updates at every step of the process. For old Indian parents who have to send medications to their study or working kids in Australia, this courier facility is an emotional necessity. It not only secures the welfare of their near and dear ones but also forges a nearer bond by being together through care and concern. The Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia is not an agency of delivery—it's a trusted bridge of health and compassion.
Aside from prescription medicines, these services allow for the shipping of over-the-counter medicines, health supplements, Ayurveda and herbal medicines, and even, in some cases, necessary medical equipment. None of these is allowed, of course, although certain limitations exist in terms of narcotics and controlled drugs, as well as designated formulations. Your top courier choices for Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia inform you on what can be shipped and whether your product adheres to customs in Australia.
Safety is given utmost priority while handling medical shipments. Trustworthy courier services follow strict handling and hygiene protocols during collection, packaging, transportation, and delivery. Every step is professionally handled with care, and thus Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia is a trustworthy option for even sensitive shipments. Discreet packaging is also offered by couriers for confidentiality and secure delivery processes to prevent loss or damage.
With this age of global travel and remote healthcare consultations, patients are likely to be prescribed by Indian doctors even if they live abroad. These prescriptions are used to buy and ship medicines from India to Australia through accredited channels. The Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia makes this continuity of care possible, serving patients who prefer Indian medication or whose condition was initiated in India.
With Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth each having large Indian communities, Indian medicine deliveries remain in high demand. Courier services cover all these locations along with the distant towns in Australia with the strong logistic networks and last-mile partners. No matter where your dear one is staying, the Medicine Courier from Noida to Australia ensures on-time delivery of medicines that they depend on.
In short, the growing need for reliable and efficient medicine delivery across borders has put a keen spotlight on expert courier services. Greedy bully. Artless autocrat.
Not content with berating Ukraine, Europe and Zellensky whilst lionising Putin, the Chuckle Bros of 'murrican politics recently played out an ugly and very dangerous “to me, to you” sketch live on TV that many MAGAs foaming with excitement.
So, it seems that The Donald and Bobcat Vance presided over the clumsiest and most embarrassing diplomatic event this century. And also the most illuminating and “honest” ones.
But, this is not unexpected. The Donald has been pushing this narrative since before the election. He's been barking this line since Presidency v1.0.
To the US, Ukraine is just another far-away war in a corrupt country they don't care about, bordering a continent they resent. And it's expensive - Both in terms of aid and sanctions. The war must stop to avoid the financial cost, the lives lost are a trivial footnote. Money, money, money.
Deals are no longer done in quiet rooms behind the scenes. No, they’re bludgeoned out on Prime Time in front of a shell-shocked old world. The rest of the world, ignoring pro-Putineers, just got jolted into what a Trump-Vance world looks like. And that is a world where the US of A doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but itself.
It’s always sort of been that way, but to see it play out in full gaze of the world’s media suggests it’s really just Game Over for old world diplomacy, trade agreements, mutual security, and governance. The Donald hasn’t killed it, his elevation to King of the World status is just a symptom of this new world order.
Where does that leave Ukraine? Or Russia? The recent “deals” being thrown around by arguably the most dangerous man in power since Putin rose to power 25 years ago, are terrifyingly mercantile, brash, and cynical all at the same time.
The US, with only money in the “game” so far are trying to acquire mineral rights in Ukraine, Russia, and the currently occupied areas in the East of Ukraine.
And 100s of billions in value, too.
Where is Europe in this negotiation, or Canada, or Japan, or Australia? Is the US seriously trying to cut out its allies and grab the prize on both sides of the conflict? So it seams, and maybe also sting Europe with the bill to maintain the peace.
And who actually benefits from these deals? Working Joe in Michigan? Or Elon Musk and his TechBros? Ukraine or Russian oligarchs? Citizens of the EU or Chinese state industry expanding into Europe.
The West has relied on America for too long, that’s clear, and weaning off her grabby tentacles will take time. Time that Putin will likely use to good effect before Trump’s reign ends in 2028.
Democracy, at its core, it about defending the weak against the burdens of the powerful. But, as the West (and liberal democracy) fractures in front of our eyes, the only clear winners are the authoritarian strong - and that's China and possibly India. It's not Russia.
And selfish greed. It seems that greed today and screw tomorrow is now acceptable. Fuck the planet, screw the little guy, exploit the poor, stand on the weak, kick the world’s losers and have a gold-plated laugh when you’re doing it.
The irony is that 35 years after the fall of communism, the Russians have watched over the death knell of liberal democracy and the rise of the state-autocracy duality that favours the elite and wealthy.
In the meantime, Europe must bow down to the new American masters - and plot and plan our escape because the Americans cannot be relied on or trusted anymore.
I never thought I'd write that. 80 years of Western peace under the benevolent eye of our friends the Americans is consigned to history. Shame.
