“But they are there,” he said, his voice filled with awe as his gaze rose skyward. Though perhaps it came as little surprise to hear himself of all people say that. The perspective was different when one could traverse among the stars, and the cosmos-kissed magician did so quite often; almost on a nightly basis these days. “And I’ll always hold the same sentiment you do.”

He reached out as if to drag his fingers through the dark blanket that was the night sky, as if to scoop a few stars into his palm and bring them closer for Airin to see in person. Doomstar could technically remove himself from the confines of Earth and ascend back into the dark vastness to bring back a star, but that would mean he was ditching Airin to do so… and he didn’t want to leave his new company so soon.

But he was a magician, and a creature who lurked in the night. Beholding stars, creating their likeness, manifesting them was exactly in his nature. So for this one night, he decided, if he couldn’t take Airin into space on a whim then he’d just have to cosmos-conjure a little piece of space from where he sat. Holding his hand out in front of him, Doomstar muttered a word or two in a language dead to the world. A quick incantation in his native tongue was all it took for a his magic to burst to life in his palm. Starlight pooled and glimmered brightly, and he scattered it all around them in but a breath.

“I like to think that considering the stars as your friends is a good thing, Airin. They’re always there, even if we can’t always see them. They listen to our hopes, our dreams, our fears and wishes. They can guide you, keep you company, and you can tell them all your secrets.”

He paused for only a moment, his eyes tracing the twinkling specks of light shining around them, before adding “I think they’re friend shaped.”
