Compulsory heterosexualality is real!!!!!
Comp. het. Is just what it sounds like. When someone LGBT+ is "straight" because of a compulsivity to be so. Being straight is so "normalized" to the point where there is no opening for anything else. Straightness is "the one and only way" and we are taught this from birth (man and wife, mommy and daddy, etc.). Luckily, things are changing. BUT people are still unconsciously driven to "be straight" and can go years and years wondering what's wrong with them before finding out they actually are just gay/bi/lesbo/etc. So, just because I went out with a dude once, doesn't mean I'm not gay now or that I was not gay at some point. It may have taken some time to figure out and some learning curves but I am definitely gay and I was definitely never straight.
