Now that I’m more awake and able to coherently speak about this subject, I do think that Kamala won the debate objectively. She was well spoken, spoke coherently, and actually did talk about her policies. Do I like that she’s sticking to the stupid “Israel has a right to defend itself” and “we need to have the most lethal military” garbage she was saying at the DNC? No. I hate it actually. However, I really liked what she had to say on the subject of abortion and reproductive care, and I liked how she called out Trump’s lies, and attacked his ego, which is probably why he was fucking losing it because he can’t handle his ego being attacked whatsover. When I say he got absolutely cooked on that stage I mean that shit. That orange motherfucker was seasoned, marinated, stuffed in a crockpot and cooked over the goddamn oven for 90 minutes until he was ready to be served to a family of seven. That’s how badly he lost.
That being said, this shit just proves that the DNC needs to fucking listen to their voter base more. They were told for months that Biden needed to drop out, he did, and that was quite literally the best move they could’ve possibly made in this election because look where we are now. The democrats actually have a chance of winning because now they have someone who despite holding a lot of the same policies as Biden, can actually communicate, doesn’t hold the political baggage that people like Trump, Biden, and (Hillary) Clinton had, and isn’t a decrepit old man. So in turn, the debate happens, Trump employs his usual strategy of blatantly lying and acting deranged for media attention, and because Kamala isn’t doing that and is actually answering questions, talking about her policies, and even baiting him, which he fucking falls for every single time (she literally got him to admit he got involved with the taliban), and in turn actually lets Trump say his insane shit and go on his rambles instead of trying to shut him down…which is literally working in her favor because instead of him getting to further push the narrative that the media is silencing him or whatever, she’s just letting him make an ass of himself on national television, making herself look much more normal in comparison. Will that sway everyone? Obviously not, Kamala is not a perfect candidate and frankly I highly doubt she’ll actually do half the shit she says she’s gonna do because that’s usually how politics goes in this country, BUT, if I’m looking at this debate from the perspective of a random guy that knows very little about politics or is just getting involved for the first time, I would feel much more compelled to vote for the person who isn’t acting like a raving lunatic onstage and deflecting every question.
Bottom line is the debate was entertaining as fuck, very memeable shit came out of it, and this just proves that the DNC needed to listen to their voters ages ago and should’ve never pushed Biden as a candidate let alone let him run again.

Today’s Jim Crow
This last blog is going to discuss the parallels between slavery and mass incarceration and how racism never died, it merely is cloaked in legal protection.
**In 1978, a court case appeared, that to me is incredibly significant. Here’s how the story goes: Warren McCleskey robbed a furniture store. Frank Schlatt, a police officer, attempted to intervene but was shot to the head. McCleskey is arrested for another robbery and admits to robbing the furniture store, but denies killing the cop. Witnesses, however heard McCleskey admit to the murder. The jury sentenced him life imprisonment for the robbery and capital punishment for the murder. Mind you, Warren McCleskey is black and the officer was white. During his appeal, McCleskey’s attorney argues that the case should be invalidated because there is a chance and probability that the offender and the victim’s race plays a role in the jury’s decision for death. The attorney provides evidence from the Baldus Study, which was described as one of the best statistical findings on criminal justice. It proves that time and time again in Georgia, race plays a role in a judge’s decision. The Court of Appeals overturned the appeal on the account that evidence from that study doesn’t prove racial discrimination in this case. There was without a doubt racial discrimination, but the next part of the case is what makes the case so important. Justice Brennan knew there were disparities, but if the dismissed McCleskey’s case, he feared it would open the door to all the other criminal justice fallacies. He said it is too big of an issue...what. We are not going to fix a problem that has lasted through history because it is too big. Maybe that’s why no one in the criminal justice system has addressed it. It is opening a can of worms. Isn’t that what justice is supposed to do? The judge’s claim is enough to say racial discrimination plays a role in this case. This case is just one of many reasons why Jim Crow still exists today.
**I heard a song by a white country singer who features a black rapper in a song about racism. “Accidental Racist” is sung by Brad Paisley and he features LL Cool J. Although the song only slightly highlights my point about how and why racism still exists today, I think the lesson behind it is extremely important for people today. From Brad’s perspective, he is a white country boy who happens to be wearing a shirt with the confederate flag on it and while wearing it, his coffee is being served to him by a black man. Brad is automatically ashamed and wants to explain that he is not a part of history and although he loves his country he does not like the pain it has caused and does not support it nonetheless. The song turns to the rapper and he sings the role of the black worker. His immediate defense is that a white man doesn’t know what it’s like living in the hood and the ghetto. He explains that there is more to him than his baggy pants, gold chains and do rag. People misjudge character based too often on physical appearance. He negotiates with the country boy thinking they might get along well if no one judges what the other is wearing. I chose this song because it expresses emotions from both parties. Not all white people are holding a grudge against blacks. African American men aren’t violent and don’t choose their life. They are faced with decisions and often misunderstood. It is not always black and white. There is a gray area where these two characters fall. That being said, the songwriter’s title might actually possess the most meaning. An accidental racist, I believe, Brad is referring to is one who doesn’t see the weight a flag carries and therefore flaunts it, making him racist accidentally. They don’t see just how much of a problem it still is today. Why is this so significant? Color blindness. It is one of the most problematic factors that contributes to racism. Either the nation is blind to all the racial disparities that occurs within the criminal justice system, or they turn a blind eye because it isn’t affecting them. Either way, it is colorblind racism. Most of the people outside the criminal justice system don’t mean to be racist or don’t even realize they are being racist and ignorance may be bliss to them, but it costs the black community their lives and it continues to divide the gap between blacks and whites. Color blindness equals an accidental racist.
**Race, crime and punishment matters are just as prominent today as they were back then, if not more so now. The War on Drugs has amplified crime in America. Small infractions like a dime bag of weed could cost a black man years of jail time, where a white man would honestly, probably be let off the hook. The 100:1 ratio comparing prison time for crack cocaine versus powder is a clear indication of racism. Everyone knows crack fills the black community and powder the white. Yet, the sentence for 5 grams of crack is 50 times harsher than the sentence for powder. The War on Drugs was implemented to put blacks back in their place. It is today’s version of slavery. We locked them up, make them work for small wages and then send them out into the community just to be locked up again, because once a criminal, pretty much all your freedom is taken away. Voting rights are taken away once a felon. Housing and loans may not be given if one doesn’t want to sell to a criminal. The label affects applications with jobs and schooling. Financial aids are restricted. A black man walks out of jail with no car, no job, no money and isn’t allowed to live with his wife and kids because they will all get kicked out. The government is setting them up for failure, and the worst part is, that is the government’s plan. A black man is three times as likely to be searched by a cop, when in reality, whites use and sell drugs just as much as blacks if not more. The judicial system knows when race is playing a part in a case, but they turn a blind eye. Why? Because that factor is just “too big”.
**In my opinion, without a doubt, Michelle Alexander’s “The New Jim Crow” highlights every aspect of racism today. Presidents, prosecutors, juries, judges, police officers, you name it and she’s already pinpointed right where racism lies and provides evidence to support her case. The book’s main focus, however, is actually based on the indication that mass incarceration is Jim Crow’s more advanced and legal structure.
