✊💚🌍🌏🌎💙✌️🌱🌳🚫⛽️🚫💵🚫 . There aren’t enough emojis to describe how amazingly powerful of a day Friday was. The #youthclimatestrike in NYC had over 250,000 quite literally shutting down the city and taking the streets for #climatejustice. That meant many incredibly powerful and creative signs, climbing street lights and courthouse steps (and other parts of the tweed courthouse building 😇), moving performances and speeches by youth from the global south, indigenous people, @gretathunberg, @c.syresmith, @willowsmith, and of course pop-up proformances by @resistancecompany in true #resistancecompany fashion 🎸🤘🎵🎶 the day ended ever so fittingly by helping to guard a youthful tree that my @xr_nyc and @earth_strike_nyc comrades guerrilla-planted in Battery Park to #reclaimmannahatta 🌿 . Those kinds of numbers and this scale of unity and creativity is impossible to ignore. Nonetheless, we NEED to keep this energy going if we are to achieve the change we need. This means taking the streets day after night after day after night and creating self-sustaining communities in the process.
