A BIG list of entirely free games therians and alterhumans can get !!! This isn't like an ad for them or anything, but when i was younger i never really had games that fit my theriotypes :( so why not start now!! this is in no real order.
These are all games where you play AS the animal, most of them being semirealistic? They're all free, so they aren't super realistic sorry!!! These are all also games i find on my tablet, so im not sure if they're available on pc!!
Wildcraft: As of today, Wildcraft updates every once and awhile, usually for the Wildpass thing they do almost weekly[? i took a large break from this game, forgive me if im misremembering.] Wildcraft was made by Turbo Rocket Games in early 2018. The multiplayer servers arent as active as they used to be, but it's still fun to play with friends sometimes!! I usually play in singleplayer though!! (Also, there is a settings option to make it first person, and one to hide the buttons!)
Playable Animals: Right now there are 12 land animals: Wolf [Default], Fox [Common], Lynx, Bear, Lion [Rares], Cheetah, Horse, Eagle, Crocodile, Tiger, Gorilla, and Kangaroo! [Ledgendaries], all of which are obtainable through the chests!! There are also 9 transformations [which are more difficult to get !!]: Raccoon, Deer, Hippo, Giraffe, Gazelle, Hyena, Rhino, Parrot, and Snake! There are also 5 Sea creatures: Dolphin [default], Stingray [Rare], Shark, Seal, and Sea turtle! You can have up to eight family members for every animal, who are also customizable! [not including transformations]
Customizability: There are TONS of skins and accessories for every animal, and you can adjust the size of their body parts, making your character entirely customizable! There are also LOTS of pets!
I give it a solid 10/10!! I've loved this game since it came out!! Me and my brother @whisperrdrrop [hii] played it like the year it came out!! I highly recommend playing this one ! >w< The community also has tons of fun creepypastas, and though the only real one is 'Niddhogg,' it's super fun to just learn about them!
Wolf Tales (Home & Heart (IT MIGHT BE 'WILD ANIMAL SIM' NOW IDK)): (The icon may have changed, my ipad doesn't update icons very much!!!) As of Today, Wolf Tales has basically stopped updating from what i can see. However this doesn't take away from the fun of it!! The game was created around 2020 by Foxie Ventures. Servers are multiplayer by default, but there is a singleplayer option!
Playable Animals: There are currently only 5 animals: Wolf, Fox, Bear, Wild/Big cat, and Dragon! All are unlocked by playing through the quests, though you can use moonstones (ingame 'rare' currency) to auto-buy most of them! Your families/packs are grown through opening chests and breeding!
Customizability: There are quite a few skins for every animal, ranging in rarity. you can obtain skins through buying the 'summoning' of the animal you'd like with moonstones and getting a random skin, or buying one directly. Skins are also not changeable! Let's say you're a grey wolf, and you get the sand wolf skin. You would have to enter your den and find that skin, and switch into that one, meaning it could have a different level! There are also LOTS of pets, though i do not remember how to get them. The only way to change your character is through changing limb sizes, there are no accessories!!
I give it a nice little 9/10, as much as i love this game i don't play it too often, but it really is fun! I think i got this game when it came out, and it was really fun watching the game and the community grow and change!! When i joined, not every player had a jump button, and there was this cool feature called 'Clans' (replaced by the player clans, sadly :() where there were 5 packs that you had to either defeat the alpha of or become besties with, and you'd get a packmate of any rarity from them daily!! My bestie pack was called 'the moonrise pack' and the #1 public enemy was 'The tooth pack' or something. I definitely recommend it :3!!
Ultimate Wolf/Fox/Forest/Savanna/Dinosaur/Cat/Shark/Bird/Jungle Simulator: they made a LOT of these games. These are only the ones that are free on my tablet, but im also seeing 'ocean,' 'dog,' 'arctic,' and 'lion' simulators for a dollar, you'd have to check and see if those are free. I'm mostly focusing on the WOLF simulator here, because i do NOT want to download all of those games. There is no multiplayer option for any of them. All made by gluten free games, no idea the release dates.
Playable Animals: The animals depend on which game you get. I know forest has bears, Savanna has cheetahs, Dinosaur has T-rex, triceratops, and ankylosaurus, bird has parrots and eagles, and jungle has tigers, but these are definitely not every animal !!
Customizability: you unlock a skin for every few levels, and you can tint them, but that's about it. For every game. There's like... 8-15 for most?
I give it a 7/10. As much as i do really, really love this game and all the memories playing it, it's really not the most entertaining game out there. If you're really bored and have nothing to do, sure, go wild with it!!
Dog Sim: I just got this game and it's so silly !! Made by Turbo Rocket Games in 2016, the multiplayer servers are surprisingly still decently active! Obviously it doesn't update anymore.
Playable Animals: The only animals in these are: (you guessed it) dogs. There's a single skin that... might? be a wolf, and there's two robo dog skins. There's a total of 38 skins!
Customizability: The only thing you can customize is your breed, sorry!
Other than that, theres a LOT to play with! With 5 bosses, 25 enemy/prey creatures, 1 map, 1 den, a max level of 200, a maximum family size of 4, 20 achievements, and 30 quests, there's plenty to do!
I give it a nice 8/10, the only points taken being because the game itself isnt the highest quality, and the models arent all 10/10, but it's still a really silly game! I do recommend it :)
Cat simulator - animal life: created in 2019 by Pocket Games entertainment, i think this one is pretty cute! With active multiplayer servers!!
Playable Animals: Just kitties! silly little kitties on big adventures!!
Customizability: Lots of cute skins and accessories!!!
There are tons of quests, camp upgrades, and more included in this!!
I didn't play this one for too long, but there are some pvp servers aswell. Overall really cute game, not too buggy/laggy! 10/10 :3
Wild Cougar Sim (3D): Another game made by Turbo Rocket games before their big success that was Wildcraft, Cougar Sim was created in 2015 (I think? I'm only finding the youtube trailer, dont be afraid to correct me.) I'm not seeing an option for multiplayer unfortunately :(!
Playable Animals: Yeah, It's just Cougars! What did you expect?
Customizability: With eight skins (Must be purchased with ingame currency), 9 coat marking options (Almost like tattoos!) including a Shark, Wolf, Lizard, Scorpion, Butterfly and Bird (Phoenix?), and options to change body/limb sizes, there's actually really good customization here!
With 3 unlockable family members, 30 quests, 20 achievements, 18 enemy/prey creatures, 4 biomes, and 8 dens, there is plenty to keep yourself busy with here! That accompanied by the fact that this isn't even a bad looking game, i honestly give it a nice 10/10! Very cute game, not much lag, pretty good in terms of realism, it's pretty cool!! :)
Dragon Sim Online: Yet another game made by Turbo Rocket in 2016, i quite like this one! With semi-active multiplayer servers!!
Playable Animals: Quite a few different types of Dragons, varying in element, colour, and breeds!
Customizability: With 4 elements, 46 (VERY pretty) skins, and limb/body adjustment sliders, you can customize your dragon pretty well!
Similar to both Cougar Sim and Dog Sim, Dragon Sim has plenty to offer: 30 quests, 20 achievements, 27 enemy/prey creatures, 3 bosses, 6 islands and 4[?] dens, there's plenty there to keep you busy! another 10/10 from me :)

1. Otherkin. Though I mostly use it as a label so people with my struggles can find me. I write for them, after all, so we can find our strength and community. I don't identify as "kin" to anything. I am a faerie. I'm not human on any level including physical.
2. I am a faerie. Simple as that. I'm a changeling. One of my kind that was, for one reason or another, swapped with a human child. I'm not meant to identify myself as such unless I need to or it's already known, but there's no real world identification on this blog. (There is on my main, whoops.) But yeah. Fae Boi.
3. Yes. I am constantly in a "phantom shifted" state. I always have full sensation and can feel and see the presence of my wings. "Mental shifts" are also an incredibly common part of my experience. Times when I feel for closer to the fae, oftentimes through music and the performing arts.
4. There's a million and a half ways. Alongside the aforementioned wings and mental state things, I have also seen members of my own species. I feel a strong desire, stronger than usual at times, to go find and rejoin my people. I feel homesick. The woods feel more like home, I'm a lot closer to the forest spirits I see within them because of my status as a fae. It's a lot of things, really.
5. I love it. I wish the particular fae/changeling subsection was better/more populated, but I do enjoy hanging out with different kinds of otherkin and therians, yall are cool.
6. Music. The arts. The woods. Weirdly enough, fantasy content does help? Considering it was never meant to be accurate, that is.
7. I don't think that's the right term. I am thoroughly my species, there's nothing to be dysphoric about. I feel lonely. I feel homesick. But never, ever, species dysphoric.
8. Don't beat yourself up too much my dude. Connect with the community, but know when go keep your lips sealed.
9. I don't even know what gear would look like in my case. I've considered making a version of my wings that's actually visible to humans but that would ironically require me to hide my real wings beneath them. I would love to dress like a walking fucking Ren Faire tho <3
10. I know I was swapped out. I do suspect that my fae mother might have been either cooerced or circumstancially forced to trade me in. She's visited me since and she seems kind. I wish my human mother had the same ability to go visit her daughter like my fae mother can visit her son.
If you are a alterhuman, reblog and answer these questions!
(don't be afraid to write a lot, do what you want ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
1/ Which category of alterhumanity do you belong to?
2/ What/who is/are your type(s)? (if you have any)
3/ Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)?
4/ How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life?
5/ What do you think of the community?
6/ What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity?
7/ Are you experiencing species dysphoria?
8/ What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened?
9/ Do you have/want to have gears?
10/ Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate)
11/ Tag someone/a creature to answer these questions!ㅤᵕ̈

I would like to offer this resource for therians, an extensive list of all of Sir David Attenborough’s nature documentaries that are available on soap2day, and a full list of what species* they each (notably, prominently) feature the natural behaviors of, separated by episode, and omitting species that were only shown dead, juvenile or being predated on. This took me a while (I have been working on it since Prehistoric Planet’s release) because I did in fact have to watch every single series in full in order to list all the species and the episodes are around 50 minutes long, but enjoy.
Long post ahead:
Most of these shows have closed captioning, which is why I’ve picked soap2day. Planet Earth is the only one that doesn’t. I did not include Dynasties and Dynasties II because each episode only features one species.
Thank you to Birch (@ambiguousmutt) for his help (he watched about half of the episodes) so I didn’t have to do it individually. Credit goes to him as well.
*Sometimes Attenborough doesn’t say the specific species and I was too busy trying to get through the episodes to identify it. In those cases I just put the most specific name I could.

ok questions!! are strucks always domestic animals like cats & dogs or can they be any animal?? similarly can fae that are therian or pixie have characteristics of any animal-bug, fish, bird-or just mammals?? do mermaids mimic the size, shape, species of fish in their chosen environment?? do the lady and sandman get along?? what's the deal with the vampires, i didn't quite get what their deal was. last, nymphs without a bond are elves, what does an elf look like if they aren't plantlike??
Usually domestic, but may be anything 2. Therians have mammal, avian, and reptile heads mainly 2.5. Pixies have a mixture of anything, including fantastical animals and things completely made up 3. Mermaids are primarily human sized but common size may shift a bit with region. Its important to note that I combined selkies with mermaids in Widderwood- they're more like seals with fish-like accents 4. They're opposing forces, yet intrinsically linked. Sun & moon. Life & death. Chaos & order. Their relationship could be somewhat comparable to Book of Life's La Muerte & Xibalba- They now each other well on friendly terms, linked, but annoy the hell out of each other with mind games 5. Practically the same, just without stripes & the plants affecting their manes.

Coping Ideas For The Aquatics
by Aquasarius of House of Chimeras
I. Introduction
The otherkin and therian communities both online throughout places on the internet and offline where people meet-up and know other ‘kin in real-life can be a very diverse group. Yet one way to divide otherkin and therians which leaves very few people still is to note all the aquatic and water-related theriotypes and kintypes. They collectively are not common, or at least not as common as land based kintypes. Within the therianthropy community - sharks, fish, seals, and even dolphins let alone other animals are not all common in terms of numbers in most online forums. Similarly, in the otherkin community - dragons inclined to water and sea serpents, mermaids, undines, and such - while having been in the community a number of times over the years are also not very common overall.
Having desires and wants more akin to their given kintypes and/or theriotype is not unheard of among many therians and otherkin to lesser or greater extents. However, given the nature of human society and the physiology of the human body, being kin to any creature more at home in water than land can leave a slightly different set of challenges to adapt to and live with. Living on land or even possibly living nowhere near a large body of natural water, can possibly leave any given person frustrated at being away from their desired place. It can be hard of any therian or otherkin no matter what they identify as being and if any given place or habitat tugs at their heart.
This essay is a listing and description of ways which have helped both myself and Earth Listener over time with craving and wanting for the sea, and what we have heard from other aquatic kin. It’s a hope that this might come in useful for other otherkin or at least be an interesting read for other people on this topic. May it either be useful as it is or a brainstorming jumping off point.
II. Touch
Its not always possible to go swimming or even take a long soaking bath or shower every time one got the urge or need for ones natural element. For the latter, while one’s cleanliness will never be questioned again, the subsequent water bill will surely make it impractical for this coping technique to be used every single time. Going swimming is also nice, but not everyone has access to either a swimming pool or natural body of water were swimming is permitted and/or safe. This can be do to either distance, financial constrains, or limitations of the local area. Other physical methods are also possible that could be useful in-between.
One thing I have used to a nice effect is that of taking a cool wet rag or simply a wetted hand across the skin. It can be a great way to stave a need for water indeed. Plus it is a lot more subtle, quick, and easy then a full drenching no matter where and when the need for water rises in most cases and it can still have rather soothing effects. This might be especially nice on areas where phantom sensations are such as phantom gills or fins are coming from, at least in my own and earth Listener’s experience. Leaving the water on the skin to slowly evaporate on it own can help.
Another touch related tip is to try running your hand (or hands) through water, running or still. (Though for us, still water seems to work better for us.) Perhaps dipping your fingers or whole hand in a bowl or glass full of water for a moment might help sooth some desires for water for a little while. An alternative to their might be soaking your feet instead.
Actually being able to visit natural bodies of water of any form no matter the kintype is often a wonderful experience. Whether it be a stream, pond, river, or even the greatest place to find water - the ocean. Even if you can’t physically take a dip or wade into the water for whatever reason, just being near the water and experiencing it can be a great thing. Being able to see, hear, smell, and touch the water can be enough for some.
III. Sight
For techniques using the gift of sight perhaps give guided visualizations of swimming in or being in water a try. For added effect try compounding senses by doing such visualizations while listening to any given preferred track of ocean or water sounds or while relaxing in a bath or standing in a shower.
Daydreaming or anything that stimulates a sense of sight or being there can be very useful if water isn’t near or available at any point in time. If you have trouble visualizing a detailed scene or places try using photos or videos of watery places which you are strongly drawn to. Try visualizing yourself into the scene itself rather than working with a blank slate and see if that makes it easier on you or is more rewarding.
Even just watching videos of aquatic life can be fruitful. Either of general life or specific to creatures more relevant to you identity. If you are a therian of a still living species finding video of your theriotype might be easier top find than and otherkin or therian of an extinct species might have. In those cases, trying to find videos of creatures similar enough either in appearance or behavior might work. For example, given their size and ways of hunting, large toothed whale are creatures which can pull certain strings of emotion and instinct while watching videos of them since taniwha are not physical Earth creatures.
There are countless written material - fiction and nonfiction alike based around watery bodies and their inhabitants. Reading stories and accounts of aquatic life can be a great release of emotions and thoughts. We have heard from at least two aquatic kindred who have found the book, The Music of the Dolphin, despite being more of a children’s book, to be rather moving for aquatic therians due to being about a feral child raised by dolphins who desires the ocean and her family again. We have personally found the manga series, Children of the Sea, to be incredibly moving to our otherkinity due its amazing graphics of ocean life as well as its themes of people being linked to the story. Of course nonfiction works have their mystique and can draw out and fulfill some things for possibly on aquatic ’kin. Books about life underwater can be a completing outlet. For example, we own one little book, The Majesty and Mystery of the Sea: A Photographic Celebration of the Marine Environment, which is full of ocean photographs coupled with quotes and proverbs about the sea and aquatic life there. The photographs are beautiful and the words inspiring.
Keeping a plant or fish aquarium might also be a lovely idea though not everyone has the time or money to care for other living beings. However the sounds of water falling and the sight of fish swimming and/or live plants waving slightly can be beneficial to the psyche.
IV. Hearing
One might be the use of sounds. There are countless tracks of ocean waves, babbling brooks, whale songs, and other aquatic related sounds. Play around with sounds which influence you the most, for example, both Earth Listener and I enjoy the rolling lull of water currents but not so much the sounds of crashing waves on a shore. Try listening to something while relaxing or even trying to sleep, they might even influence your dreams to involve a body of water even.
For more permit sounds in daily life, there are indoor or desk water fountains. They come in all sort of shapes and sizes and can produce a nice present background sound. They are not mobile however a place in a bedroom, on an office desk, or simply nearby where a lot of time is spent can be something to listen to throughout the time you are within hearing range.
There are some songs and hymns which either is about water or involves a water-like effect in the tune itself if not both for the same song. For example, the orchestral song, “Rain” from the soundtrack of the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmerian involves a very aquatic feel within its tune as does the song “Hymn to the Sea” from the soundtrack for the movie, Titanic. A song which involves both lyrics about the ocean that also has a nice aquatic-vibe to the overall music is the song “Emocean” by Lunatica. Songs either of orchestral or lyrical could have soothing effects on one’s desire for water as well.
V. Smell
The smell of cool humid air can have a very soothing effect. Anything from an actual humidifier to a simple misting bowl or fountain as they are sometimes called. Smelling and feeling the extra hint of moister can be very nice to breather in. It can also be very refreshing during the time of the year when the humidity is low.
Also, there are various fragrance oils, forms of incense, and even perfumes which have been created to have salty or aquatic scents to them which might be appealing to burn (or in the case of perfume wear). We do not wear perfume ourselves that much, but we have been told by elinox that the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab’s Pool of Tears and Deep Ones are very nice. After she suggested it, I have also have tried BPAL’s Pool of Tears which I found it amazing especially because of its salty smell which really did help. I also personally love to burn fragrance oil and my own favorites scents form the brand we buy are called Oceanic and Rain which have smells that remind me of water quiet nicely indeed.
VI. Taste
Something as simple as taking a sip of water could help. Actual water rather than carbonated beverages and such tend to give the best effects for both myself and Earth Listener. Not only does having the taste of water in our mouth make us feel better but a keeping our body adequately hydrated helps keep down the drive for water. We tend to feel our best when very hydrated both physically and mentally and the fact we are drinking nice cool water actually does seem to hit a sweet spot in our nonhuman aquatic identities.
Ice is a nice cooling treat to let melt in your mouth. Just DON’T try and chew or bite down on it - you can damage your teeth! Also always be wary of the possibly swallowing the piece of ice on accident. As to avoid chewing or swallowing as well as making sucking and licking ice easier to manage, there are reusable popsicle trays that can be bought (or made by using a standard ice tray plus use toothpicks or similar) and filled with water to let freeze.
VII. Conclusion
Being kin to any creature at home in the water can be something in which coping and calming techniques, or even trigger techniques, can end up being rather inventive and quirky compared to others though not to say aquatic kin have it any harder than any other otherkin regardless of kintypes or theriotypes. Its merely different perspective just as kin that are at home in the air might be able to find similar enjoyments. Every kind of otherkin, and down to the individual in fact, has things which work for them which might not help anyone else. Its my hope that is essay works as a brainstorming for others to work with. Its my hope these ideas and things we have found useful to be useful or helpful for others.

Sorceress Apprentice
I have a spotify playlist https://open.spotify.com/user/meridian-rose/playlist/3BUhlrU9LE7h0EdbtDSYZ8
which includes
We're Off to See the Wizard (Wizard of Oz) – the story begins when Bryony and Kerine, worried about the lack of water, go to visit the sorcerer who lives up on the hill
Storm (Vivaldi, Vanessa Mae) – Bryony's element is mostly water but also air; she's a storm sorceress
The Devil's Fiddler (Nick Pym) – the annual summer festival's ritual dance seals the bond between Bryony and Emeri
As Long as You're Mine (from Wicked) – with the lyrics
Say there's no future for us as a pair ... and though I may know I don't care ... Just for this moment as long as you're mine
Bryony doubts that Emeri could ever truly love a commoner, despite his reassurances, but more pressing is the issue that he's dying and their time together is limited – though Bryony won't give up hope on that score and wants to make the most of their time together regardless.

Big Bad Wolf (Duck Soup) for Romaine
La Vida Loca (Ricky Martin) for El
Men in Black (Will Smith) since they're field agents dealing with the supernatural
For the project overall I was stunned by "The Wolf and the Moon" (Karliene) because it has these lyrics
On a cold winter night… A wolf lay wounded and cold A fight with a bear That left him exposed He lifted his gaze To the shimmering moon And death was growing near
At the start of the novel Wolf shifter Romaine is wounded, betrayed, he believes by his partner, a Therian whose animal form is a bear.
The moon was full, a bright white against the indigo sky. Romaine lay on the grass and stared up at the cloudless expanse, struggling for breath.
His hand found the wound. When he lifted his hand to his face, his fingers were dripping with his blood.
It seemed impossible. Yet here he was, shot with silver, or on such a night he'd already be healing instead of haemorraging.

Actually, there are a bunch of them! Part of the reason you see so many dragons or wolves is that we tend to congregate more readily into groups, not to mention "dragonkin" have had their own seperate communities for years. It may also help to understand that many of the "otherkin" that Identify with Earthly, Current or Previously existing animals will often hang out in the Therian tags other than Otherkin ones. This is because Otherkin, before being used as an umbrella term, generally refered to Non-Earthly Creatures, Animals, or Beings. Ex: Unicorns, Alien species. Many of us still use this sort of divide as personal preference.
For instance, while my kintypes would be Kynvahl and Corvid, I use Draconic and Therian over Dragonkin and Corvidaekin.
I've met many people with 'obscure' kintypes, from Lobsters, to Seals, Bison, Vultures, Turtles, and Newts.
I've put forth another proposition that those with kintypes that possess a shorter lifespan seem to be less common on the surface (especially here on tumblr) due to the fixation of memories here. I feel as if kintypes with shorter lifespans may have a more difficult time connecting to said memories due to a shift in how that time is perceived.
Entirely theoretical opinion, of course.
Hope this is of a little help or interest, and if anyone has anything to add or correct, go for it.
yo so why are ‘otherkin’ people always something dope like a dragon or wolf. if it’s a real thing, where are all the seagull and mosquito-kin at?

questions?. No. Story.
Beaches and water :
Muffled waves clash in softness over your body. You move quietly through out the sick-green seaweed - letting it smoothly collide with your body. Everything was in order . The fish that came past you were breezeless , sea beds welcomed you with open arms . Life was undisturbed [ allowing you to cherish the views ] . However, your whiskers hollowed out a deep feeling : something very pure. Rising out the depths of the estate blue sea your flippers yearned for the pleasant sand. The particles held you with admire while you hopped along it's satisfactory surface. A breeze ticked over you , letting you know that the sun's here. It's still here on the impressive beach. You snarl lightly , playful towards the other seals infront you . Their responses were calm , mindful of your wonderful presence - today was a day for basking .
[ for your common seal type. ]

Compilation of therian resources
Below the cut is every resource for therians I have posted so far on my blog, with some new additions, organized by function.
Theriotype Research
Resources for Informational Articles
Encyclopedia of Life: includes scientific data like prey and predator species, specific ecoregions inhabited, lifespan, sensory threshold, etc.; also includes links to third-party scientific articles; has many pages on very obscure species, as well as plants, fungi, protists and even prokaryotes
Animal Diversity Web: Wikipedia-style articles on species range, habitat, behavior and physiology; features nested taxonomic lists that you can use to find closely related species
NatureServe Explorer: shows detailed information on conservation status and data on habitat, range, and diet on animals, plants and fungi in North and South America
Photos and Audio
iNaturalist: community based around casual observations of animals, plants and fungi in the wild, features a lot of nonprofessional, realistically captured photos of species as they exist in their natural habitat, rather than the exaggerated way professional photographers often portray them. WARNING: searches may include images of dead animals, especially for mammals
Macaulay Library: resource for photos of animals and especially for recorded audio of vocalizations, mostly of birds
Resources to Feel Closer to Your Theriotype
Audio and Video Resources
myNoise: an index of noise generators, many of which are of natural environments like forests, jungles, rivers, the arctic, the ocean, and more
explore.org nature cams: livestreams of various animals, including common kintypes like wolves, bears, domestic dogs and cats, birds of prey, bats, big cats and horses
Stuff You Can Buy
Birdorable: shop that sells cups, mugs, t-shirts, stickers and phone cases of cute cartoon birds, with a lot of various species including many obscure ones
Fursona Pins: a store catered towards furries that includes a catalogue of pins of animals with pride flags, with a large selection of species including common kintypes like wolf, bear, lion, cat, coyote, hyena, horse, fox, raven, but also some less common ones like red panda, badger, skunk, moth, rat and ferret
A Selection of Etsy and Redbubble Stores
bone and bloom: curio/vulture culture shop
Of Moth and Moon: curio/vulture culture shop
katarinanavane: curio/vulture culture shop
furmasters: affordable tails
Preserved With Amber: curio/vulture culture shop, also slightly less affordable tails; based in the UK
Sidian Arts: has a huge selection of animal-themed face masks, including a lot of common kintypes (lion, bear, fox, wolf, dragon, raven, etc.) and uncommon kintypes (seal, red panda, badger, ferret, dolphin, etc.)

1/ Which category of alterhumanity do you belong to?
I’d say I best fit under Otherkin! Given as my theriotypes fit under extensions creatures under this umbrella.
2/ What/who is/are your types)? (if you have any)
I’m a selkie, by extension seal therian. I have a difficult relationship with specifying a species because I feel like it really varies by the biome I feel most attached to! That said, I feel closest to Caribbean monk seals, harbor seals and most pacific fur seals. I also have a few fictional identities but I seldom talk about them and I consider them purely psychological, though I sometimes address them as “creative spirits”.
3/ Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)?
Fins over all others, but when I’m in the water I have always carried myself as a seal. I have equivalents of banana posing for expression, enjoying floating belly up on occasion and usually carry my head just below the water line. My strangest cameo shift thus far was the strongest, and now has me questioning a whale shark theriotype.
4/ How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life?
I think it really boils down to how I connect with the non-human world around me. I try to get others to find those nuances in how we communicate with nature, and form a mutual respect beyond words. It comes easy to me. That said, I’m often caught longing for a home that doesn’t really exist. I make do, with blankets that feel like pelts and prayers to a playful ocean.
5/ What do you think of the community?
I think it’s matured a lot over the years, though as a whole it is prone to spreading misinformation. We absolutely look out for each other though, and I’m very appreciative of that. I’d love to see more alterhumans mobilizing to protect nonhuman life on the planet as a whole, since I feel we hold a very close understanding with it and could do a whole lot of good.
6/ What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity?
Gear is lovely, but being around other alterhumans in person is even lovelier. Connecting with folklore and anthropological sites that are important to me has been crucial to understanding myself and feeling at peace. I will say, the day I first saw a seal in the wild, I cried so hard. I followed her down the path from the mouth of the lagoon she was in, and she paused and looked at me for a few minutes before disappearing into the icy water.
7/ Are you experiencing species dysphoria?
Not so much dysphoria as a general sense of malaise. If I don’t have to mask my behavior, it goes away. Most of it comes from a point of having limited mobility both due to health and natural human limitations.
8/ What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened?
Be patient, take time to explore what alterhumanity means to you, and remember that identity is not something necessarily stagnant. Take into account your safety as well. This is something you’ll carry with you all your life, so do all you’d like to explore it thoroughly and relish in its joys and sorrows.
9/ Do you have/want to have gears?
I would like to remake some old webbed hand paddles I have! As for actual gear, most of my gear is for the dog-self (see below). It consists of some tails and some ears and the like. Though I have some trinkets that do remind me of sealhood. I would like more that don’t have nickel in them because putting on gear isn’t fun when it literally burns you (metal allergy).
10/ Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate)
This is not really a theory so much as what actually happened, but I will admit I’m not sure where my selkiehood came from.
TW: abuse, alcoholism mention, religious trauma
I’d always had a tendency to mimic and play like an animal. I rejected dolls even in my infancy in lieu of stuffed animals. If I wasn’t playing with them or all the creatures in my back yard and house, I was playing pretend about tending to them (an early love of veterinary medicine), so I already related to non-human animals deeply, and usually I played with my dogs on all fours and used their body language. This isn’t something I’ve ever outgrown.
Around the time I joined kindergarten, a girl leeched onto me pretty severely, and since I’d always been taught to be understanding and kind to others and how their situations at home might impact how they act, I allowed her. However the situation quickly escalated, and from Kindergarten to grade 7 she would use me as a test subject to explore what it felt like to inflict pain on me, and threatened me with physical violence if she felt me slipping away from her grasp, as well as subjecting me to conversations about wanting to descend into alcoholism (we were 5, if you can believe it, and it saddens me to think of what she was being exposed to, that she might have acted this way). This was on a daily basis. All the while the philosophy that was getting me into this issue to begin with was being reinforced in my religious studies, so I wasn’t getting any respite, rather I was being praised for putting up with it. I don’t remember the specifics of anything she did aside from a few huge instances, since eventually I would just walk along side her dissociating and let her do as she pleased, but there was a point where she confided in me that she had an extreme phobia of dogs. This happened when she demanded that I invite her to my house, and when my little dachshund came up to her, she started screaming and asking me to put her away. Over time, I guess I saw this reaction and my brain saw it as a way out, so I became even more of a dog than before. I saw myself as a dog. This dog-self would snarl at her, assume the posture of a hound, and was one of the first and only times I felt any courage to stop her harmful behavior. It never had any lasting impact on what she chose to do with me, given as I wasn’t an actual flesh and blood dog, but having done literally anything to stop her freaked her out enough that she outright acknowledged I was a dog at one point, and tried to use this fact to manipulate me into behavior typical of a dog that she approved of (submission, loyalty, etc).
When she left I never really stopped. I found out about therianthropy when I was around 13, and while I recognized my doghood in it, I really felt most of my non-human experiences lined up with selkiehood, so I never really called myself a wolf or a dog. My shifts lined up more with a seal than they ever did with a dog, and my dreams were the abyssal kind of pelagic. They always have been. I adore that side of my therianthropy, and I want to honor it by taking care of the sea. I feel at home there and I saw myself in the tale of the Seal Wife, as well as that of Kalsoy’s seal woman. I grew up near the sea and that connection was always there. However, I also want to honor that dog-self and all it did to protect me, though recently I have seen them less under the lens of therianthropy and been exploring the psychological reasons behind their existence.
11/ Tag someone/a creature to answer these questions!"
I’m going to leave it open to any moots who want to try it!
If you are a alterhuman, reblog and answer these questions!

Hi!! Also gonna put it under a cut but I'll tag some mutuals first, @ciarashoggoth @ochremutt @wynterwulf7 @theros but also @paracosmic-gt I'm curious to know you more!
1/ "Which category of alterhumanity do you belong to?" I don't think there's really an answer for this question because I personally think of alterhumanity as something that can't be broken down into very neat boxes and squares, even if you allow room for overlap and unlabeled folks. I could sit here for a while naming labels I identify with and sub-labels of those labels but at what point does a Category™ become a (ˢᵘᵇᶜᵃᵗᵉᵍᵒʳʸ), y'know? If therian is a category, is cladotherian, or nonhuman? TL;DR I'm too autistic for open-ended questions like this
2/ "What/who is/are your type(s)? (if you have any)" Uuh. I have a lot, some I'm still questioning, some I'm not sure of the full nature of, some I don't have words or names for, etc. I'm a conceptual darkness cryptid / birdbugbeastfishthing glowy alien computer with heartedtypes, hearthomes, fictotypes, and somewhere between 1 and 100 archetypes. Hopefully that satisfies.
3/ "Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)?" Most common shifts would be mental and phantom like most therians but I also experience a lot of different types of shift, some of which I named myself because I never saw anybody talking about them but happened to me with enough frequency to be worth personally naming. Strangest cameo shift? Ketran which is an alien from Animorphs and that should suffice as an explanation. But I've had all kinds of weird cameo shifts, I think my brain is way too open to experiencing incompatible biology lmao. Snake, tyrannosaur, theow (which is a mythical creature that's like a wolf with hooves and a mane), seal. Thing is I'm already a centipede and a fish-reptile so few physiologies are as "weird" as my normal
4/ "How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life?" I don't know I just… do? How do people with blue eyes experience blue eyes in everyday life? It just is a fact of life.
5/ "What do you think of the community?" Depends on when and where. But I think I'd be fine without it. I barely consider myself part of it to begin with but that's just because I'm kinda schizoid and I'll exist on the fringes of any community I'm ever part of and just be OK with that Checking in like are ya winning son and the room is on fire like usual
6/ "What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity?" I'm a simple critter and i love to be called or even just compared to my species and fictotypes. I still remember the one time in freshman year of college when I said something I don't even remember and my roommate jokingly called me a computer in response. One of our other roommates who was also autistic immediately reacted by admonishing her because "you can't say that to an autistic person!" while meanwhile I was just like Me? 💻🥺 you really mean it?
7/ "Are you experiencing species dysphoria?" Like at this very moment? Or
8/ "What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened?" Nothing. Is. Permanent. I know that's easy for me to say because my archetype is change, but it's not just true for me, it's true for everybody. Even if your philosophy is that you have One True Kintype, you can still be wrong, and everybody is at one point or another in their journeys. Absolutely everybody. So really, take it as slow or as fast as you want, as long as you take it easy. Be forgiving and patient with yourself.
9/ "Do you have/want to have gears?" I used to have a fox tail, real too, from back when I was a fox and when I thought having gear was the win condition for the point game that is alterhumanity, right alongside coming out to people and having Tumblr followers. In essence I was 19. But it was still such a cool get and I'm still upset by losing it. One of my favorite moments was walking outside with it for the first time, on a trail in the woods, and I passed a woman who I caught looking over her shoulder at me and grinning ear to ear, an earnest, non-mocking grin like it was the first time she'd ever considered people wearing tails lmao it was so cute
10/ "Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate)"
