Question: Lady Rage - at what amount of chocolate consumption does it go from enjoying an emperor-blessed treat, and tilt over into heretical slaneeshi hedonism?
See, a lot of people will say 'when the chocolate is full of cocaine!' or 'when it's premium and extra delicious!' . This is not the case. Simply enjoying something or being luxuriant and indulgent does not a calling to the dark imposter gods make. It is the obsession that drives these people. If someone was letting other aspects of their life fall to the wayside, seeking richer and richer chocolates and one of a kind rarities. Spending their fortunes, razing whole plantations and sacrificing lives for better and better chocolate. Caring about nothing but the ultimate ganache... THAT would probably make them fail. Fall.
You know it still gets me when you actually know something.
Gotta spot heresy if you wanna beat it up.

Quick sketch of Commissar Raege and Alice Boone, characters belonging to Mr. Culexus, that I did 1) because they’re cute together and 2) as thanks for helping me when I was going through some financial troubles.

10 Pattern The Mohr Sector Scathach-Pattern MK 7 Autogun is not the most prestigious or accurate of its kind. Indeed, it is quite unnecessarily loud. Even for a gun. But it, through a technicality, can have it’s stock and second grip removed and it’s barrel shortened. So anyone strong (or stupid) enough can use it as an autopistol.

Raege, Have you considered giving Boone some training in fisticuffs? I'm sure she would be grateful if you gave her some tips on how to handle herself if she ever gets caught without a weapon by an enemy or a person who gets a bit to grabby with her.
I want Boone to be fitter and stronger in general. Between basic exercise, I have been trying to find a fighting style that works for her. In my own case, I find kicks higher than the knee to be showy and impractical.
However, Boone’s lack of upper body strength, her above average flexibility and her previous training in dance has led me to believe that a kicking based martial art may actually work for her.
Outside of the basics of close quarters combat, though there is not much I can teach her in this regard. I lack any real insight into such techniques.

"There will always be better things we could spend our requisition on." So *thats* where the major sneaks in her hooch budget.
That’s a big part of being a political officer. You need to appeal to peoples sense of practicality.
Sure, I might look a little more commissarish if I got all that expensive gold trimmed cuffs, jack boots, chest plate get up. Might ‘look the part’.
But good beer is a human right.
It is proof that the god emperor exist and wants us to be happy.
I won’t have people who are putting their lives on the line drink the stale, piss ass, cornwater the munitorum puts out.
This is why I respect you, Conners.
Even though you use words like ‘commissarish’ and constantly flash people in battle.
[measuredly defensive]
I never use flash-bangs in battle.
In the event I wish to obfuscate my exact location, I use smoke grenades, so I can emerge from it. Presentation is important for a commissar.
[subject smiles fondly]
You knucklehead.

For Alice Boone: How could an inadvertent panty shot be embarrassing wwhenyou've literally bodyswapped with Conrad multiple times? Gotta stop rolling nines, girl.
There’s different sorts of mortification out there.
I wont lie - returning to my own body to discover my hair was wet and that my body smelled of soap and therefore had been washed while the commissar had been it it was titanically embarrassing. And her incredibly flat and logical explanation somehow made it worse.
If you borrow something from somebody and you get it dirty, you wash it before you return it. It’s just good manners.
She didn’t have to put it like that!
But I mean, on some level the commissar has seen me naked or undressed a bunch of times because she lacks any real sense of sexuality or social graces. I’ve...sort of gotten used to that.
But having my own clothes fight back against me and then have the commissar think I was sick was somehow a new and terrible sort of embarrassing.
Made me feel clownish.
But hey - six months no phenomena. New record.

Can you tell us more about Sharde, Commissar? Was the experiment your idea?
Sharde was a feral worlder with no sense of scale or danger. She was maybe 11 when I met her, but she was already a mess of gnarled muscle and had more scars on her than some veterans I’ve met. She was so wild and fearless that she was a danger to her own tribe.
It was not my idea to see whether she could be made into a commissar.
But I won’t lie. I like the idea. I just wish I had done better by her.
She was a great fighter. Strong, fierce and fearless.
She could have been one of the best if I had let her.

Question for Raege. Coming from a Schola that takes more than a few cues from the traditions of the old Discipline Masters, I have to ask; why did summary execution by blade go out of fashion? Visceral, no ammunition expenditure, makes a statement without sending skull chunks every which-way. It's no Electroscythe, but I'd say that a backsword-chainblade has served well enough in this respect. Beheading is quick, reasonably humane. When will this 'shoot them in the head' fad end?
Slightly uncomfortable topic, but I do sort of get what you mean back when I was on Kuluth, I favoured the knife and my bare hands. It was quieter and less messy in many ways. Moreover, part of the issue we were having was an ammunition shortage, so shooting that many people would have been dumb.
Uh.
Dumber.

Alright, because it has come up recently, to anyone who cares: pineapple on pizza, yea or nay?
It’s peculiar. If presented with it, i would eat it - but I would not order it.
Pineapple, to me goes on a burger - not so much a pizza.
Gross.
Funny story, actually...
Ah fuck.
See, i didn’t have much of an opinion of pineapple on pizza, but when me and Lockwood would get some I would never actually seek it. I’m more of fire breather or yiros pizza sort.
But she would always give me shit about it. Calling me a baby and talking about how I could handle xenos and fighting heretics but couldn’t handle a little pineapple. She was basically putting a spear in the ground.
So she taught herself to like it.
It’s good stuff.
Practical upshot is I no longer have any foods I don’t have to compete with Conrad for.
Which is awful, because for 40 years she took her meals with growing teenagers.

Ma'am did you ever got into an argument or a fight with another commisar who were acting like you in your first years ? addendum : what about other officiers ? Since commisars at outside of the chain of command you should be able to punish them right ?
I have not personally encountered another commissar who was being as stupid as I was, fortunately.
Sadly, it wouldn’t matter if I had.
It’s important to remember that even though my actions with the Boomslangs were a foolish and damaging, they were also technically legal under the guidelines of imperial law specified in the primer. So, whatever anyone else thinks, even reporting a commissar like that to the commissariat or the ecclisiarchy will at best get a peer review.
I was only called into as much question as I was because of how many friendly soldiers I killed in one sitting during a pivotal battle of a long campaign.
That, and I often didn’t shoot for my executions even when the prescribed punishment is to be shot. I explained this under a sub section that explains that other methods of execution can be used when ammunition is low.
But when a commissar hasn’t just KILLED over 100 troops but done so in many cases with a boot knife or their bare hands, its gonna get make people stop and think.
Let’s unplug the waffle iron there, shall we?
Well.. my point is that even a mad, stupid commissar can only really be advised not punished so long as the people they’re killing have committed a crime that calls for them to be executed - which, for what it’s worth - is most of them.
If I was adhering to the laws like I used to I’d have had to shoot half the people I work with. Heck, maybe three quarters.
HA!
Including you.
Whoa!
Yeah, the rules are really strict.
They’re a bit like defect laws, though.. They’re there so that every soldier regardless of rank knows they CAN get their brains blown out at any time, so they’d better smarten up.
Most of the time a commissar who actually, like, actually actually follows every little thing has a glorious but very short career, depending on who they’re assigned to. Like my student who went to Krieg? Not quite two years.
In that regard, an overly zealous bloodthirsty commissar that kills more of their own guys than they do enemies, is generally only a problem for a few years at most. I think the higher ups at the commissariat get that, on some level.
They’d have to.
Right.
In regards to officers, it’s not a problem.
Doesn’t matter if you’re a five star general , governor, arch magos- you fuck up bad enough a commissar can still blam you.
About that.
Next time you execute a corrupt official do you think you could not use the plasma pistol?
I found a goddamn tooth in my hair last time.
You shoulda been wearing your helmet.
I didn’t know you were gonna shoot the guy!
Neither did he. That was the point.

Who has had the most trips to the medbay?
Might be a dead heat between the commissar and Stoner. Stoner might be ahead by a trip or two, actually. The commissar may get injured more but her resonance with Lancaster means she basically has a personal healer for a lot of her injuries.

Majpr Gallows here, 88th penal legion. Wondering if there is a way to connect to these convicts WITHOUT having to blast them. Not that I'm scared to make an example, but it doesn't look like we'll be getting reinforcements any time soon, so these scum are all I got. How do I get them to obey?
Despite the reputations of penal legions, it’s not like every single one of them is going to be a psychopath or a murderer. You can get sent to a penal legion for dropping your gun or gambling if your commissar is strict enough.
A lot of the ‘scum’ (maybe dont call them that) that you’ll be dealing with are just good people who fucked up once or twice. Connect with them if you can.
If you can’t..?
Eh. Whup the biggest ones. Use strikes that don’t injure but hurt like hell. Ears. The side of the ribs. Work the joints. Punch around the eyebrows. Hurts like hell and bleeds for a big show, but they’ll still be able to fight in an hour or three.
They wont be afraid of death at this point, but most people fear an ass kicking. Also, shame them. Convicts, even one that are there for clumsiness think they’re bad dudes because theyre in a penal legion. If a commissar has a higher kill count or is more in the thick of it than them, they should either respect that or seek to do better themselves.
Either way, result.
