I didn't want to put red robes on wkx all the time, but the extras are my indulgence for having one more “red and blue” ship.
I was also thinking of why do I keep adding make up to his design, it's like he doesn't look finished without red lipstick and eyeshadows to me. Or maybe I just want him to look like a disney princess 🫠🫠🫠

on today's episode of 'what the heck you talking about girlie'
ok so this morning as i was jumping around the house playing Brave by Sarah Bareilles and singing it like my life depended upon it - because is there any other way to sing this one??!!!?!?!?
i had an epiphany!!!!!
this song would make an absolutely wonderful firstprince edit - which i don't do
- but oh it would be so good!!!!
and as i've been typing this i was also struck by fic inspo bcuz of this song lolz (but for anyone who knows anything about my process - there is no doc opened - so i guess we'll see how much it sticks in my brain and if that changes lolz)

gonna bat the hornets nest again but despite the veilguard feels very YA accusations...if you strip away the gore and the blood and the titillating trauma of minorities in the past games, the series is commercialized YA fantasy from the start. Yes, there are YA fantasy that rivals the depth of adult fantasy books and there are adult fantasy books that aren't as in depth either BUT as a genre, as the set standards of the genre, commercialized YA fantasy often has shallow concepts, worldbuilding that feels expansive but when you peel the layers, it's not really as in depth as it sounds and conclusions that present itself as radical but literally is just bringing back the status quo but a new guy is in charge.
that is what dragon age feels like lmao, from the very beginning. It's telling that the major themes for each of the games do not go beyond "friendship and trusting each other good" and "power and oppression bad." Like those are the major themes in a lot of commercialized YA fantasy and yes also written in extremely shallow ways.
See I don't even think this is the fault of the author (although there are authors who are clearly writing for YA bc they do not have the skills to be writing adult fantasy). The publishers think that teenagers are too immature to understand anything meaningful. Plus their second and louder audience is a bunch of grown adults who turn their nose at anything outside of the safe YA bubble and at worst make a mockery of the set genre standards for adult fantasy. (Like the amount of times I've seen over the years of grown YA fantasy readers complaining that an adult fantasy book has too much worldbuilding 😭. Babes, that's genre standard!)
It's the same way that bioware has always not trusted its audience to understand challenging concepts. Again, I don't even think it's the writers's fault specifically bc there are themes throughout every game where you can see the writers's intent with these things but somewhere along the lines some higher up at both bioware/EA told them "no the audience isn't smart enough to understand this."
For me in veilguard, it's docktown. It's like I can see you trying to make this dragon age's answer to our shithole town/city. It's the second take on Kirkwall but somewhere along between when docktown was imagined and FIRST written to when this game was released, they stripped away the parts where that was communicated properly.
I do hope to one day see a bioware game where they absolutely don't give a shit about what the audience thinks actually. They dont do fanservice requests post game like Larian does but why not apply that to the whole dev cycle? Like their games just suffer under that mindset as a result.

Do you ever think about the differences between our cars and planes and think about how they'd apply to cybertronian physiology?
I'm by no means an expert on anything mechanical nor engineering but I at least know the very vague basics. And by basics I don't fully mean 'well one's on the ground the other flies' stuff I mean stuff like how one's alt changes their root's armour.
Like, if you pop open the hood of a car you can through all the machinery see the ground below, and depending on the car you can see bigger or smaller gaps. Planes of all sorts are practically surrounded in outer plating, the only gaps being along servos and if you've got a jet you get that extra little intake. And tanks are all around a complete hull, and in fact kinda come in multiple hulls strapped together.
And considering that the scale relative to one another (car -> tank -> plane) it would make sense that fliers' sizes are quite similar to their alt modes, the interconnected machinery in tank joints just extend for a bigger rootmode, and civframe grounders would puff out their plating so as to not be completely tiny.
I mean I'm not an expert on vehicles but wouldn't that be pretty cool?

Concept of Paper Mario and the M&L games merging was SO fucking good I am so sad original characters were not allowed and the M&L series had to end on its lowest point and also Mario's characterization was really bad???? <---[Paper Jam Fan]

This is only unverified gossip but I've heard that female authors trying to get published are advised to age down their adult characters in fantasy/sci-fi to fit into the YA genre and now I'm going to be stewing possibly forever.

I put on a series of mediocre-to-bad horror/thrillers tonight and I have now watched
A movie I honestly kept confusing for 'picnic at hanging rock' when it came up on the hbo max suggested list
the most graphic allstate commercial i've ever seen
'devil' but even worse
if 'sharp objects' was the most painfully canadian movie you've ever seen

Just saw someone on Letterboxd doing a genuine, honest to god critical review of the first King John adaptation which was, for the record, filmed in 1899
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was filmed in 1899 and he's complaining that it's boring and repetitive. Like what were you expecting fireworks????
this is why I hate film bros. are you out of your goddamn mind I hate it here
