Halloween doodle + drabble ♥

I'm impatient for Halloween so here's some domestic AU fluff for all of you. I finished both way too quickly to ensure quality but, hey, it's the thought that counts, right? ;_; There's more where this came from here.

“Dean, are my wings level?” Cas asks as he walks into the kitchen, adjusting the straps across his shoulders with a look of frowny concentration. The expression quickly melts into a little sigh when he hears his husband wolf whistle in lieu of an answer.

“Dean...” Cas shakes his head, both cheeks painted a pretty shade of pink. His fingers curl shyly in Dean’s shirt like they do every time such a compliment makes him blush.

“Do we have to go to the party?” Dean murmurs into his hair. “Kinda want to keep you for myself.” 

“Of course we do,” Cas hums indulgently. “It’s Sam’s and Jess’ party.”

“Yeah, but-”

“Dad! Daddy!”

Both men turn at the bright voice chirping from the entryway, mouths instantly curving into identical, wide smiles. Their daughter rushes to them in a blur of yellow and black, mesh wings flapping behind her, and Dean bends down to catch the movement and gather her carefully in his arms. “Hey, sweetheart.”

Maddie peers up at Dean with huge green eyes, a feature just as beautifully striking as her father’s. “Dad, what’s Uncle Sam’s costume gonna be?” she then inquires seriously, and the tone makes it seem like she’s wondering about the current state of the American economy.

“A moose,” Dean replies, completely deadpan, the slightest of twitches in his jaw at Cas stifling a laugh beside him. He finally chuckles when Maddie tilts her head in response, a gesture that leaves no doubt that she is indeed Cas’ daughter. 

“What about Aunt Jess?”

“Oh, she’s going as a moose hunter.”

“Dean,” Cas scolds half-heartedly, hands now clasped over the base of Dean’s stomach. He rests his chin on Dean’s shoulder, the two of them standing chest to back, and watches as Maddie giggles delightedly and scrunches her freckled nose.

“That’s weird!” she exclaims, breaking into higher-pitched noises from Dean blowing loud raspberries on her cheek. He doesn’t let go till she’s breathless, her pompom antennae all askew.

“You ready to steal Uncle Gabe’s candy with me, honeybee?” 

Maddie nods enthusiastically at Dean’s question – like father, like daughter – leaving Cas to roll his eyes with a fondness he can’t manage to hide. Dean lowers Maddie to the ground so she can fetch her plastic pumpkin before turning in Cas’ arms, leaning forward to press a soft, chaste kiss to his lips. 

“Happy Halloween, baby.”

“You too, Dean,” Cas smiles. He steps back to smooth his palms over Dean’s shirt, then reaches up to center the sparkly red horns poking out of Dean’s hair. Seconds later, there’s a determined gleam in his deep blue eyes as he solemnly declares to his very amused husband, “We are so winning that costume contest, by the way.”
