The above image (which has nothing to do with anything) is a panel from the original art for "Let the Punishment Fit the Crime," a two-page strip written by Peter Bagge and drawn by our man Clowes. It first appeared in Cracked # 220 (7/86) and was later reprinted in Different Beat Comics, a 1994 Fantagraphics sampler.
In these character's faces, Clowes perfectly captures the serene snobishness of the audiophile.
