Admissions Chapter 4 - Just Kiss Already
NSFW. Word count: 4069
Who's ready for spicy daydream?
Next chapter will start the first arc of the story. Should be out in a few weeks.
Also a reminder that the lines in bold italics are Simon's dad.

MASTERLIST
He’d swear the table just creaked under his weight for the third time this sitting.
People never built these things sturdy enough.
In front of him, the little one. Kneeling as she had the day he met her weeks ago. His bare foot propped on her thigh and all. At least this time he wasn’t ruining her pants with muddy boots.
Still felt bad for that.
Silently those soft hands rewrapped his foot over and over. The last time she’d change the wraps, a moment both long-awaited and bittersweet. These appointments had been a convenient excuse to spend time with her, and though he’d been chafing at the bit to get back into action… he was going to miss these moments of quiet peace. Never once had she complained. Not about him, his ruminative silence, or even his (he assumed) smelly feet. She just… helped him.
His mind told him over and over, the closer these final days came, that he was doing her a favor. Perhaps one of the kindest things he’d ever done for another person in his life. That Sereza would be glad to finally be rid of him. Simon would go his way, and she would go hers. Back into the shadows for him, and on to live a good and peaceful life for her.
As it should be.
It was what they both deserved.
“Why have you been doing this?” he was asking before he could stop himself.
Sereza froze in her task, staring unblinking up at the skull mask. “Because your foot’s broken, silly goose,” she answered dryly.
“Smartass,” he muttered under his breath. He was not a… silly goose. “I meant, why. Surgeons don’t usually do this.”
Why are you helping me? Bothering with me?
“Because we run a small staff up here so we all wear many hats. Because I’m available and don’t mind doing it. Also it is kinda sorta my job.” Her hands paused their work again when her eyes snapped up to his. “Did you want someone else?”
“No,” Simon replied. A bit too quickly when he thought about it, dammit. “Just curious.”
Why had she looked worried?
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Death by PowerPoint.
Fucking painful.
The intel was critical to their mission but holy shit this could be dull. Many units had a custom – if the urge to fall asleep was too strong, go stand at the back of the room.
Well, over half the attendees were in the back of the room and there were still a few hours of this suffering to go.
Fucking hell.
Out of his periphery, a welcome distraction. A very, very welcome one.
Sereza, wearing those tight black leggings again, strolled down the corridor and chatting with an orderly. Young guy, probably brand new to the military. And damn he looked nervous. Simon began to earnestly wonder if this was the kid’s first time talking to a woman.
The poor bloke fumbled the armload of files, in the process leaning over and spilling what must have been the combined pocket contents of ten people all over the floor. Small pieces scattered across the tile and halfway down to Ghost’s conference room. His newest torture chamber. The kid gaped back at her, looking like he might piss himself. Humiliation? Eh, maybe, somewhat. Fear though… There was far more fear in that expression. Were surgeons such hard-asses? Did the little one have a secret mean streak?
Of course she didn’t. Because Sereza was nothing like him, who elicited such responses from new recruits on the regular. Sweet girl just patted his shoulder and started picking up the mess with him. Proper angel, you are Love. The beauty bent over to pick up a penlight-
Simon’s hand dragged up her bare back, fingers weaving into those silken caramel ringlets. A firm jerk as the hand fisted within her hair. A choked gasp caressed his ears.
“Cheek stays on the desk, Gorgeous,” his voice ordered, smooth and deep. The firm grip pushed her head down.
“S-S-Si… Nggh, m-more. Pl-please… let me cum…”
His brain registered his other hand.
And how utterly drenched it was.
Slippery, juicy sounds reached his ears when two of those fingers effortlessly slid deeper into molten wetness just as he commanded-
“Beg.”
Ghost jerked in his chair. A few people looked in his direction but he passed it off as a sudden cough.
Holy shit. That was not a full-blown fantasy in the middle of a fucking briefing! One with the major present who also happened to be her damn brother!
The lieutenant shifted; fuck he was extremely hard.
GodDAMN IT!
Nervously he surveyed the room. No one seemed the wiser, thank God.
Well-
“Takin’ a shining to the lass, eh Sir?”
“Not in the slightest. Get your head in the game Johnny,” the skull quietly scolded when Soap kept staring at his profile.
“Heh,” the sergeant chuckled. “Not the one who looked away LT,” he whispered, behind his hand.
The Scot positioned his legs to hide the bulging tent in Ghost’s pants from view. “You weren’t gone long. Just a wee bit, no worries.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
HOW the hell has he allowed this to happen?! Christ’s sake, this – whatever this was – and missions didn’t go together. He’d once mildly reprimanded Soap for insinuating during a mission that they were friends, telling him they were simply teammates and that friendship wasn’t in the field manual.
In reality, the Scot was the closest thing he had to a friend. Whatever the bloody hell this fixation was concerning Sereza definitely wasn’t in the goddamn manual. And it wasn’t fucking friendship.
A hell of a lot stronger and that was the problem.
This would cause distraction. Endanger their mission and could result in someone ending up dead.
But every goddamn time he saw or heard Sereza his pulse quickened, his chest would become tight and it took nothing short of the full sum of his willpower to not scoop her up and carry her off somewhere. Fuck if he knew why. What he did know though was his nature and his mind weren’t aligning anymore; a change that dumbfounded him. By nature, Simon was solitary. A reclusive homebody, and preferred to keep it that way. Having people around just meant more risk to manage. Opportunities for his trust to be betrayed and for him to get hurt. Again.
After all, people you know can hurt you the most.
Yet he was inexplicably drawn to that little one, seeking her out at every opportunity, unable to make himself stop. It only got worse when he held her after helping her out of the air vent.
The most intimate thing Ghost had ever experienced in his life.
He frowned. How fucking pathetic could he be?
Maybe he was getting sick. Delirium was something that happened when you were sick, right? Simon never got sick so he didn’t fucking know.
Perhaps a work-up wouldn’t be the worst idea. A mission was coming, the chance to take down Makarov’s second-in-command. And t would require he be at his lethal best.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Bone knuckles tapped against the office door; hopefully he didn’t accidentally startle her again.
“Busy?” Fuck me, that was a shitty hello.
“What’s up Buttercup?”
Heavy boots halted mid-step. Did she just- “There is no way you’re talking to me.”
The peanut didn’t even bother turning around from her charting. “Sure there is,” she stated matter-of-factly.
This woman and her sobriquets. “Cheeky little munchkin, arentcha?”
“Awww, a new name? That’s so sweet…” Sereza flashed an evil grin over her shoulder. “Buttercup.”
“God that’s nauseating.”
He’d lost this round.
“Okay, okay,” she spun her chair around. “I’ll stop. You can be Ghost again.”
“Thank you.”
“What’s up for reals?”
The skull breathed deeply as Sereza’s stethoscope slid across his back. “Well your lungs sound great.” She shifted to stand in front of him and held her hands out. “I need to check your neck.”
He grudgingly nodded and raised his chin. It was just barely under his mask, and it was her… so it was okay, he told himself. Icy fingertips biting into his skin made him jerk backward. “Bloody hell!”
“Sorry, sorry!” she hurriedly apologized, blowing on her fingers and rubbing them together. “I forgot.”
“Why do you lot always have such fucking cold hands!?”
“Comes with the white coat, I don’t make the rules.” She held her hands back out.
Ghost scowled as he eyed her suspiciously, but tilted his head back again. Her fingertips were still chilly but considerably less frozen this time as they slipped beneath the mask. Fuck your hands are soft.
“No swollen glands either. I’m sorry but I can’t find anything specifically wrong.” Sereza plopped on the stool and rolled back in front of him, almost between his knees. “You just feel off, that’s it? Not to minimize,” she hastily added.
Simon nodded, not exactly trusting himself to speak with the little one… so close… Just shy of right between his legs, looking at him with concern.
“We can run bloodwork if you want. That will tell us if there’s a metabolic issue or if you’ve got something cooking.”
The Brit shook his head, unwilling to take up more of her time and resources.
Not an unexpected answer. “How’s your sleep and diet been?” she moved on.
“Fine. Normal.”
“Normal for you or what most people would consider normal?”
You’re too quick Love. “It’s fine,” he reiterated brusquely.
“Normal for you, abysmal for most. Got it.” Jet-black irises glowered half-heartedly beneath the mask. “As far as your diet, I’m not too worried about that honestly. I know you guys pay close attention to that to maintain your conditioning,” she gestured at his upper body.
She’s … noticed him?
Paid attention to him? Need that pretty little head examined sweetheart.
“But answer me honestly please, how are you sleeping?”
Simon exhaled. Be honest…
Unpleasant memories roared to the forefront of his mind.
I can’t be honest with you Love.
“It’s not the best but it’s been worse.”
“Been worse like recently?”
Yes and it’s your damn fault. “No.”
“Can’t fall asleep or can’t stay asleep?”
“Both.”
Sereza took a breath. “Would you be willing to try-“
“No.”
She paused at being cut off before her expression shifted into faux-innocence. “A…  bubble bath with lavender candles, a smutty romance novel, fuzzy socks? Perhaps a snuggie?”
Simon stared before he caught a mischievous twinkle in her expression. He struggled to hold back a grin as she broke into soft giggles. He huffed out a single laugh, “I’ll pass.”
“You’re missing out Lieutenant. How about a walk? A hot shower? Whatever relaxes you and helps train your brain to wind down for sleep. I guess you can leave off the rest if you must, which is the best part in my professional opinion.”
He nodded. That was a bit more reasonable.
“But promise me something.” The skull tilted his head. “That if your sleep gets bad again, you’ll give me a chance to help you. Or you’ll at least think about it for more than a tenth of a second. Accepting help isn’t weakness you know, and we all need you at your best out there.”
Fucking dammit, her logic made sense. “Alright.”
“Okay then,” she perked up, a smack on his knee as she stood. “Well, if you start experiencing any symptoms, or just keep feeling shitty, feel free to come find me. I can’t do much to help you until then unfortunately. Hard to diagnose something I can’t see.”
“Sure.”
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Who the hell is yelling?” The Captain asked the silent lieutenant.
Angry, aloof, and overall exceptionally crabby, his mood had grown progressively sour since the afternoon’s meeting.
Oh, that fucker. Wonderful. Simon recognized that nasally voice.
The pair picked up their pace to the common room; the source of the complaining.
A highly aggravated captain loudly cleared his throat upon entering the common room. Abrams smartly took that to mean things would go badly if he continued his tantrum.
The snot-nosed shit had been arguing with the lass over something and seemed incapable of letting it go. “It was a mistake but you would do well, Dr. Olivares, to not underestimate my abilities.”
“Oh, I couldn’t possibly.”
“You alright, Darlin’?” Price interrupted. His own glare aimed at Abrams let him know there would be hell to pay and more if he didn’t behave.
“I am now that I see such lovely faces. Is it tea time already?”
Abrams scoffed and traipsed out of the room. Thank fuck. Would be a waste of good tea if they’d had to share the room with him. Breathe the same air. The lieutenant wished he’d leave faster; not only did he despise the twat for his attitude and piss-poor bedside manner, but the man had all the personality of white bread.
Once both Brits had their tea John settled at one of the barstools and Simon limped over to another of the sofas. The old wood groaned as he sank onto it.
Sereza found her mood greatly improved suddenly. Some of her favorite people were in the room and Abrams was finally gone. What a nice turn of events. Her friend looked a bit worse for wear tonight. Mentally more than physically. Knowing he wouldn’t outright tell her what troubled him, she decided to pick up on previous nights’ conversations, if for no other reason than to get him out of his head for a moment. “Where’s Manchester exactly?”
“In the north, near Liverpool.” Her blank look told Ghost she had zero clue where Liverpool was. “Um, Sheffield?”
The little one only bit her lower lip as her brows pinched together.
“It’s in the north,” he answered simply.
“Got it.”
He quietly chuckled, setting his mug down. “You heard of London?”
“I do know that one.”
“Okay,” He lifted a bone hand, creating an invisible map. “London, Scotland up here, and Manchester’s right about here.”
That was enough geography for one day. “Tell me about home,” she gently prodded the glum Brit.
Simon’s hands slid into the pockets of his hoodie as he rested his head against the back of his sofa. “Don’t have much of one,” he responded, sounding tired.
“Well, tell me about Manchester then.”
“Not much to tell.”
Good lord you can be difficult. Cutting into that head and poking around his brain for answers might be easier.
“Where’s a good place for a drink?”
Abyssal eyes stared up at the ceiling. Just when she began to think he was going to ignore her, a low raspy voice broke the silence. The smoothness of it tingled her senses.
“Lower Turks is pretty good. Mulligans. Old Nags Head-” He paused at the sound of her suppressed laugh. The sight and sound of her amusement was captivating. “What?” he asked after a moment. He didn’t think he’d said anything particularly funny.
“Just… that n-name,” she tittered.
He found himself smirking along with her, recalling wondering as a child who came up with some of these names. “Your turn Peanut.”
“What would you like to know?”
All of it. Everything. “Same thing.”
“Well, I haven’t been back to Argentina in years, so I can only tell you about my favorite places back then. Hm… there was a place called Antares that I liked, and La Vieja Escuela…”
Her quiet reminiscing brought Simon a foreign sense of peace. “Favorite food?”
“I like a lot of different foods but I haven’t had a good steak since I left. I do miss that. But you got two questions! So now it’s my turn again!” The Brit’s chest rumbled with mock displeasure and he rolled his head to his other side briefly before flipping it back to her. “What about,” she drifted off, thinking of what she could ask next that would keep her enigmatic friend talking without crossing into personal territory. “Favorite subject in school?”
“Maths, and I’m guessing yours was science,” he added quickly, not giving her a chance to ask more questions about his childhood. He really didn’t want to think about that time of his life. Or any of the other times honestly. Just this. This was enough, more than he deserved.
The deflection didn’t go unseen, but Sereza just smiled and moved on along with him. “History.” The lieutenant hummed, not expecting that. “Yeah I was good in science and math, but I liked history best.” The peanut tucked her legs underneath her, leaning over the armrest to face him. “I’ve never been to Manchester – obviously – so sorry if this is a stupid question. Are there still old parts of the city? Medieval parts?”
“There are but I don’t think they’re actually medieval. Tudor more likely. You like old stuff though?”
“I like all of history but I’d like to see a castle or something like the timber-frame buildings - you know, stuff like that. Just once. Nothing like that where I lived. Or around here,” she pointed at the snowscape outside the windows.
Ghost chuckled along with her, finding a tidbit of joy in simply sharing the same space with her. “There’s a pub called The Old Wellington,” Simon’s voice grew uncharacteristically soft. “It’s in a timber-frame building, not that far from the river. Good steak, I hear.” He smiled beneath the balaclava as the tiny female ooh’d at the thought of the pub and her eyes sparkled with excitement while picturing the steak in her imagination. I’d take you there sweetheart.
Fuck’s sake, will you two just kiss already?
Price just managed to hold back his words. A loud, exasperated sigh came from the dark doorway, disrupting the mood he had hoped would continue building.
Crash. A guy from Raphael’s team, the same one she had warned the two men to never let drive anywhere. The man all but crawled into the dim common room, face pale and expression downcast, refusing to look at anyone – except one person.
“Oh honey, again?” Sereza asked sympathetically.
Crash said nothing, only slamming a sofa cushion against her leg and dropping down beside her.
The aggressiveness of his movements raised Ghost’s ire. Fucking nerve of this guy to behave this way with her!
Yet Sereza seemed unphased. Combing her nails through his hair until Crash let out a few light snores seconds later.
Whole scene had Simon seeing pure red.
How he’d approached her – just walked over and angrily threw a pillow at her, and she just went along with it. More than that, she had touched him.
Touched! Voluntarily!
Willingly given her affection… to another man. Someone who wasn’t him. Then again, why should he expect anything like that in the first place – from her or anyone else?
(WHAT?! GONNA CRY NOW?! YOU WANT A HUG, IS THAT IT? PATHETIC FUCKING KID.”)
The skull quietly exhaled.
That was stupid of him. There was someone in this room who obviously needed the comfort and Simon was honestly glad he was able to find it. Even if it crushed him to see.
The universe didn’t give him long to punish himself. Crash was awake and up again almost as quickly as he’d come in. The man stood and ran a hand roughly through his hair before leaning down to give the peanut a peck on the side of her head.
Ghost’s eyes shot daggers at the wall behind them.
Out the door Crash went and that appeared to be that.
“Boyfriend?” Price questioned.
Simon stood and left the room before Sereza could answer.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
He woke up gasping.
Blood pounded in his ears, replacing the warm wet feeling of it dripping down his forearms. There were no butchered bodies in sight yet the smell still permeated his senses. They’d been all around him, staring vacantly at him with empty, unseeing eyes. Expressions that showed how he’d failed them.
His family.
Slaughtered in retribution for escaping the Zaragoza cartel in Mexico.
Not the first time he’d seen or heard them die in his nightmares. Far from it. It happened most nights, but tonight had reached a new level of hell.
For the first time, the memory included someone new.
Sereza.
Throat slit down to the bone, butchered, lifeless eyes staring back at him.
The dream had then shifted to him being buried alive again. Dirt rained down on him as Roba promised to “take extra special care of your pretty whore.”
Simon shuddered. He dashed into the bathroom, violently throwing up until none of his dinner remained. Sinking to the floor and continuing to dry heave.
“You remember how much fun we had together, eh English? Can’t wait to have fun with her too.”
Somehow his stomach managed to find more to lose.
The toilet flushed. His clammy forehead rested heavily on the lid, the cold a balm to his elevated body temperature. He couldn’t smell the vomit. Nor the hint of bleach his bathroom was routinely cleaned with. All he smelled was the rotting flesh from that grave. All he felt were the maggots crawling across his skin and falling into his mouth…
He tossed his head back with a frustrated snarl. Pulling on his jumper and mask, Ghost jerked his room’s door open. Didn’t bother with putting the walking boot on. Fuck the boot. Only one thought screamed in the tempest of his mind.
Get to the common room.
There she was.
Alive. Safe. Beautiful as ever.
His light in the dark, exactly where he’d left her hours ago. Busily sketching away while her on-call shift passed.
Simon hung back in the hall’s shadows, unsure if what he was about to do was proper.
He was rather sure it wasn’t.
Desperate for his memory to fucking shut up, he soundlessly stepped out from the darkness until the beauty finally noticed him.
“Hey sleepyhead! What’re you doing up?”
Ghost couldn’t bring himself to say anything. Wordlessly, his finger toyed with the corner of the sofa cushion.
“Wha- Oh. Oh I see.” Slender legs straightened out, feet propping up on the edge of the beat-up coffee table. “Come here sweetie. Let me fix it better,” she patted her thigh invitingly.
He scrounged his memory for the last time he was willingly this close to another person, sharing such an innocently intimate moment, and found nothing. Came up empty for compassion as well. None from anyone besides his mother.
Tension melted the moment his head made contact with her thigh.
“Oh wow. It was a bad one, wasn’t it?” Obscured eyes peeked up at her over his shoulder. “Your mask is up a bit on this side,” Sereza gestured. “I can see your pulse in your neck. Plus your pupils are so wide you hardly have any brown left.”
No response, only turning his head forward again. Please don’t ask me to talk about it. Please don’t. I can’t handle thinking about you like that. I can’t think about… that man… hurting you... He turned from her a bit more, trying his damnedest to push away the dream’s image of Sereza in Roba’s hands.
A small hand lightly ran over the mask then scratched his upper back. The same caring touch she had given Crash earlier in the evening.
Muscles tensed reflexively. “Not a fan? Sorry.”
Her hand began to move away. “I like it,” he murmured. “Felt nice.”
“More then?”
“Yeah. Please.”
Soothing back scratches resumed with occasional soft pets over his masked head.
“Is he?”
“Is who what Ghost?” Sereza’s soft voice whispered.
Dammit, she was going to make him say it. “Earlier. Is he your boyfriend?”
“No sweetie. I don’t have one.”
Oh. Well… good.
His shoulder was shaking. Something else kept rubbing over his covered hair.
“Ghost. Wake up sweetie.”
He inhaled sharply, senses immediately on alert and ready for whatever threat there was.
“It’s okay.” She gently squeezed his bicep. “Everything’s fine, but it’s almost 0500. Isn’t formation soon?”
A large hand ran down his face before checking his watch – Fucking hell, he’d slept a long time. Long for him, at any rate. She’d even woken him up with just enough time for a quick shower, bless her. Sticky dried sweat had him feeling rank.
The Brit stood and straightened the shirt beneath his hoodie. “You alright? Was I too heavy?”
“Nah, light as can be,” Sereza smiled up at him, tossing the cushion back in its corner.
Simon grinned beneath the balaclava. “Well, um, thanks.”
“Sure. Anytime.”

Office Dynamics - Part 9: Boredom and Bonding
Tumblr media
The next day, the office was abuzz with the usual morning chatter as everyone settled in for a new day. You were at your desk, catching up on emails, when Michael's voice came over the intercom.
"Everyone, conference room! We've got a special presentation today. Let's move it, people!"
You exchanged a knowing glance with Jim, who was already rolling his eyes. "Another one of Michael’s 'special' presentations, huh?" he muttered.
You chuckled, grabbing your notepad and pen. "Looks like it. Let’s see what he has in store for us this time."
As everyone filed into the conference room, you noticed Tori, the new intern, setting up a PowerPoint presentation. She looked eager and a little nervous, which wasn’t surprising given the somewhat chaotic environment of Dunder Mifflin.
You and Jim found seats next to each other near the back, ready to endure whatever Michael had planned. Pam gave you a sympathetic smile as she took her seat across the room, while Dwight sat front and center, poised and ready to take notes.
Michael clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention. "Okay, everyone, settle down. Today, Tori is going to give a presentation on improving office efficiency. I expect everyone to listen carefully and take notes. This is important stuff."
Tori started her presentation with a nervous smile. "Good morning, everyone. Today, I'll be talking about strategies to improve our office efficiency, focusing on time management, organization, and workflow optimization."
As she droned on about time management techniques and color-coded filing systems, you felt your attention slipping. You glanced over at Jim, who was doodling in his notebook. He caught your eye and leaned over, whispering, "Who knew there were so many ways to organize paper clips?"
You stifled a giggle, whispering back, "I think we might need an efficiency plan just to get through this presentation."
Jim snorted quietly, causing Pam to glance over and smile knowingly. Just then, Michael shot you both a stern look. "Hey, keep it professional back there. This is serious business."
You and Jim straightened up, trying to look attentive. Tori continued, oblivious to the minor disruption. "Now, let’s talk about the benefits of a clean desk policy. A clutter-free workspace can significantly increase productivity..."
As Tori’s voice became a monotonous drone, you felt your eyelids growing heavy. You fought to stay awake, but the combination of the warm room and Tori's soothing, albeit dull, voice was too much. Before you knew it, you had leaned over, resting your head on Jim's shoulder, and drifted off to sleep.
Interview with Y/N: “I didn’t mean to fall asleep during Tori’s presentation. It was just... really boring. And Jim’s shoulder was surprisingly comfortable.”
Jim glanced down at you, a soft smile playing on his lips. He shifted slightly to make sure you were comfortable without waking you up. Pam noticed and shot Jim an amused look, mouthing, "So cute."
Jim rolled his eyes good-naturedly but couldn’t hide the warmth in his expression. He gently took your notepad and started doodling little cartoons on the margins, glancing occasionally at Tori’s presentation to make sure he wasn’t missing anything crucial.
Interview with Jim: “Y/N fell asleep on my shoulder during the meeting. It was adorable. And honestly, it made the presentation a lot more bearable.”
After what felt like an eternity, Tori finally wrapped up her presentation. "And that concludes my talk on improving office efficiency. Thank you for your attention."
Michael clapped enthusiastically, trying to rally the room. "Great job, Tori! That was very informative. Let’s all give her a round of applause."
The rest of the office joined in half-heartedly, relieved that the presentation was over. You stirred at the sound of applause, realizing where you were and quickly sitting up, embarrassed.
"Sorry, did I miss anything important?" you whispered to Jim, who was grinning.
"Just the thrilling conclusion about the benefits of a clean desk policy," he replied, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
You groaned softly, rubbing your eyes. "I owe you one for not letting me sleep through the whole thing."
Jim shrugged, his smile widening. "Anytime. You looked like you needed it."
Interview with Pam: “Y/N falling asleep on Jim's shoulder was the highlight of the meeting. They’re just so comfortable with each other. It’s really sweet to see.”
As everyone filed out of the conference room, Michael approached you and Jim, looking slightly concerned. "Y/N, you seemed a little out of it during the presentation. Everything okay?"
You nodded, still a bit groggy. "Yeah, Michael. Just didn’t get much sleep last night. Sorry about that."
Michael softened, patting you on the shoulder. "No worries. Just try to get some rest. We need you at your best."
You smiled, grateful for his understanding. "Thanks, Michael. I will."
The rest of the day passed in a blur of typical office activities, but there was a lingering sense of camaraderie and light-heartedness from the morning’s events. Pam and you found a moment to chat at her desk, still giggling about the meeting.
"So, you and Jim are getting pretty close," Pam teased, her eyes sparkling.
You blushed, shrugging. "Yeah, I guess we are. It’s nice."
Pam nodded, her smile widening. "You two make a great team. Both in and out of the conference room."
You laughed, feeling a warmth spread through you. "Thanks, Pam. That means a lot."
Interview with Y/N: “Today was a bit embarrassing, but it also reminded me how great it is to have supportive friends like Jim and Pam. Even in the most boring meetings, we manage to find a way to make it fun.”
As the day drew to a close, Jim walked you to your car, his hand brushing yours in a familiar and comforting gesture. "So, dinner tonight? My treat. Consider it a reward for surviving Tori's presentation."
You smiled, feeling a flutter of excitement. "Sounds perfect. But only if I can stay awake this time."
Jim laughed, opening your car door for you. "Deal."
Interview with Jim: “Days like today remind me how much I enjoy spending time with Y/N. Even the most mundane parts of the job are better with her around.”
As you drove away, you felt a sense of contentment and anticipation for the evening ahead. Life at Dunder Mifflin was full of surprises, but with Jim by your side and the support of your friends, you were ready for whatever came next.

PowerPoint Presentation Design Services
Overview of PowerPoint Presentation Design Services
PowerPoint presentation design services are specialized offerings aimed at creating visually appealing and effective presentations for various purposes, including business meetings, educational settings, conferences, and marketing pitches. These services typically involve a combination of graphic design, content development, and strategic communication to ensure that the final product not only looks professional but also conveys the intended message clearly and effectively.
Key Components of Presentation Design Services
Content Development: This involves collaborating with clients to understand their objectives and audience. Content development may include writing text for slides, creating outlines, and ensuring that the information is organized logically. The goal is to create a narrative that engages the audience while delivering key messages succinctly.
Visual Design: A significant aspect of presentation design is the visual appeal. Designers use principles of graphic design to create slides that are aesthetically pleasing. This includes selecting appropriate color schemes, fonts, images, and layouts that align with the brand identity or theme of the presentation. Visual elements should enhance understanding rather than distract from it.
Slide Creation: Once the content and visual elements are established, designers create individual slides using software like Microsoft PowerPoint or other presentation tools. Each slide should be designed with clarity in mind—avoiding clutter while highlighting essential points through bullet lists, charts, graphs, and images.
Branding Consistency: For businesses, maintaining branding consistency across presentations is crucial. Design services often include customizing templates to reflect corporate branding guidelines—ensuring that logos, colors, and typography are uniform throughout all slides.
Interactive Elements: Modern presentations often incorporate interactive elements such as hyperlinks, embedded videos, or animations to engage audiences more effectively. Designers may integrate these features thoughtfully to enhance interactivity without overwhelming viewers.
Revisions and Feedback: After an initial draft is created, designers typically seek feedback from clients to make necessary revisions. This iterative process ensures that the final presentation meets client expectations and effectively communicates its intended message.
Training and Support: Some design services also offer training sessions for clients on how to present their materials effectively or how to use specific features within PowerPoint itself.
Delivery Formats: Finally, once the presentation is complete, it can be delivered in various formats depending on client needs—whether as a PowerPoint file (.pptx), PDF for easy sharing without formatting issues, or even as an online presentation via platforms like Google Slides.
Benefits of Using Professional Design Services
Expertise: Professional designers bring experience in both design principles and effective communication strategies.
Time-Saving: Outsourcing presentation design allows individuals or teams to focus on their core responsibilities while ensuring high-quality output.
Enhanced Engagement: Well-designed presentations tend to capture audience attention better than poorly constructed ones.
Increased Credibility: Professionally designed presentations can enhance perceived credibility during pitches or important meetings.
In conclusion, PowerPoint presentation design services encompass a comprehensive approach to creating impactful presentations through expert content development and visual design tailored to meet specific client needs.

Like… here’s the thing, I get it. Covid came and fucked everything up - any momentum that any franchise might’ve had got the emergency stop button pushed on it and it sucked for everybody. So maybe hoping for another film or series is asking too much - shooting for the moon, pipe dream, etc. I’m (reluctantly) willing to accept that.
But… ya know… there’s a few things I feel could perhaps be accomplished within the realm of greater possibility. Of which I have created a short list.
*clears throat* *turns on powerpoint*
For your consideration:
1. A Reunion Special - just a chill, cozy little hour or two with the whole gang to reminisce and reflect (and maybe clarify some of the gaps and misunderstandings for Crypt of Tears… please? 😀).
Worst case scenario - it’s the last sentence of the final chapter; a goodbye and good luck.
Best case scenario - reignites interest & maybe entices some funding out of the woodwork (*wink wink, nudge nudge eh?*).
2. Spare Gag Reel? - You’re telling me these idiots spent like 80% of the time cracking up and ruining and takes and you nEVER WANTED TO SHARE WITH THE CLASS?
No, I know there’s weird rules and agreements that have to be made and actors have to individually consent to it being shown (at least in the states, maybe Australia’s different), but like… please tell me someone kept some of it. Please tell me it wasn’t trashed in haste… ‘cause then you will have wasted what could’ve been a giant serotonin boost for so many young, neurodivergent queer women/nb folks, a few lads, and some lovely senior citizens. And just sayin’… I would pay cinema ticket prices to see that.
So. Just food for thought.
3. The Alternate Takes/Deleted Scenes - Those rumors can’t have come from nowhere. Don’t be shy.
The X-Files did it, too. You get caught up in not wanting to jump the shark that you nosedive right under it instead (i.e. that kiss could’ve happened and it would’ve been just fine). So it’s okay, really. No one’s gonna be mad (I think)… we just wanna see it.
I’m even down for stuff that never got filmed, but was in the og script. I will eat every bite of what you put on my plate, I promise.
4. A Combination of All Three - ✌️😚😎
In conclusion - @ Every Cloud/ABC/AcornTV/Whoever Else… please. And thank you.

Hi Steph! Imagine a group project so dysfunctional that everyone is just working on their own w/o any communication, and they don't even bother combining their PowerPoints into one file and read it through before the official presentation. The production of S4, and S3 to an extent, gives this kind of vibe. Doctor Strange 2 is definitely a result of such a production. So many plot holes, inconsistencies, and wasted potentials that I sometimes wonder if the scripts were written in one afternoon.
OOOOOOOOOOooooooof Nonny, so true though??? Because yeahhhhhhhh I feel like the odd gal out that didn't really like DS2?? It just.... didn't feel like a Doctor Strange movie, I dunno. And it doesn't help that the Chapek era of Disney kind of overworked Feige and demanded too much from him. I'm hoping that it will slow down a bit and the shows and movies start having a cohesive narrative again.
With regards to Sherlock S4, that was part-too-much-ego and part-let's-get-this-done-in-less-than-a-year. :| It was so rushed, ugh.
Anyway.
The Powerpoints is a good analogy. I have seen plenty of bad Powerpoints in my career, and that description is perfect, LOL.

I found it so interesting that in your fic Aemond is aware of that happens to Aemma. I mean… just imagine knowing that your father butchered his first wife in order to get a son and now that he has three of them he completely ignores their existence.
I feel like Aemond was that one kid who sits with the grown-ups and nods along, and people just gradually forget he's there because he's so quiet, but he's listening to everything and filing away all the details as he's going through a completely valid pre-teen existential crisis, trying to understand how "Heir for a Day" parties even happen and if people are going to celebrate when he and Aegon die...
One of them is bound to have questions about their half-sister's dead mother. They weren't close but they shared a roof. I fully believe it would come up at some point.
One of the few things I like about hotd is the way they've managed to show how Viserys's parenting affected his children differently.
Rhaenyra's the trusting, kinda naive but confident leader who boldly makes glaringly obvious mistakes because she has that trust that as long as her father is alive, even if she hasn't spoken to him in six years, he'll always defend her. Someone will always defend her.
Aegon's the disorganized type who tends towards sociopathy because of the inconsistency he's met with in his formative years. The standard "benevolent neglect" that breeds apathy and low self esteem. Heir to the kingdom? His father's greatest regret? Apple of his mother's eye? Burden she struggles with? It's anyone's guess on any given day. He's shown to be thoroughly confused by how intimate relationships are supposed to work. He openly declares that he feels unworthy. Desperately needs other people...
Aemond's that kid who learns to be self-reliant, independent, etc. Withdrawn and quiet but might act out without any regard for others because "Fuck other people." Believes he's never going to get what he deserves unless he takes it...
Helaena's the neurotic type who thinks the best of everyone and wants to be a part of things. Happy just to be invited with no complaints about anything ever.
Really, I feel like the writers looked at Succession and then googled "the combination of neglectful father and teen mom causes what 4 different problems in children?" Then they clicked on the first attachment theory link they found and used the slides in someone's PowerPoint presentation as a character template 🤣 but i give them some points for trying at least. A little on the nose, and none of it probably applies to a family that normalizes incest but it's good.
I mean, children are generally aware when they're unwanted, unloved, etc. They can tell these things. Even the rich kids who other people think should just "shut up and be grateful" for all the material possessions they have.
So I give the writers credit for not pretending the "Hightower 3" would grow up to be healthy, happy functional people while being born into that type of privileged but confusingly hostile environment.
They just all seem pretty aware of the situation they're in. Especially after the Driftmark episode, so I guess I just wanted to build on that.
Plus, too, Rhaena's already in-canon aware of her standing with her own father so it just sort of made sense to have Aemond also be on that same "know your enemy" page with her.

I realize I'm not in a place to help solve this problem, but here's a bit of insight on how I was exposed to these and other skill sets in the 90s and early 00's:
We learned how to use a mouse in kindergarten and 1st grade, using a mix of KidPix and playing breakout. We learned typing from 2nd thru 7th grade in formal classes, on everything from Apple IIe's, to Macintosh Performas, and eventually PCs.
We learned simple word processing around the same time, eventually branching out to include spreadsheets and powerpoint in 5th grade continuing through middle school. In fact, word processing continued for quite some time after that, but I don't think we got any dedicated instruction in how that was done after a certain point. I remember even learning how to make a tri-fold brochure in 6th grade, in science class of all things. Other office suite software was continually a staple of assignments throughout high school, but formal training ended some time in middle school.
We were taught the LOGO programming language from 2nd thru 5th grade on various 90s Macs in software called MicroWorlds. We didn't realize that programming was the subject being taught, it was just "math" and it was fun (we were learning angles I guess). We were given the option of taking basic computer science classes in 6th and 8th grade, where we were taught the parts of a computer, and how to make simple websites in HTML from scratch. All written in notepad! We were also given a more formal computer science class option for 10th-12th grade, learning Java along with computer science principals and concepts.
I learned Photoshop from my dad. I learned more word processing from my mom. I figured out the greater web and most of my common Windows knowledge through personal exploration, but that's only because I was given the opportunity to learn on my own free time at home. I'm sure there were a few key instructions on how to dial up, and start a web browser, but after being show how to access my email, I was more or less left to my own devices.
I remember figuring out how to do really crude audio editing using Sound Recorder in Windows, cutting, splicing, speed adjusting, and combining clips to amuse myself. If you've never touched it, sndrec32.exe is a single-track recorder, it isn't meant to be a complex editor. Given a little time and patience, I figured that one out in middle school. I also recall using free time in middle school computer labs to make stop motion animations in Jasc Animation Shop with a friend of mine. We stored our work on a floppy disk, and unfortunately lost alot of our effort, teaching a valuable lesson in backing up files.
The most important skill I find isn't being taught is file management. Folder structure, directory navigation, and how to locate things is something I find has gotten harder. Cellphones, tablets, and even modern Windows strive to obfuscate these essential elements of computer use, and presume to find everything for you, never telling you where things actually reside on your drives. I'm not sure how you would teach this one, but I don't know how folks manage their own computers without mastering this aspect.
Without someone explicitly teaching me these skills, or giving me the opportunity to play around, I wouldn't be nearly as capable on a computer, and we're seeing the consequences of when that doesn't happen.
seriously, though. i work in higher education, and part of my job is students sending me transcripts. you'd think the ones who have the least idea how to actually do that would be the older ones, and while sure, they definitely struggle with it, i see it most with the younger students. the teens to early 20s crowd.
very, astonishingly often, they don't know how to work with .pdf documents. i get garbage phone screenshots, sometimes inserted into an excel or word file for who knows what reason, but most often it's just a raw .jpg or other image file.
they definitely either don't know how to use a scanner, don't have access to one, or don't even know where they might go for that (staples and other office supply stores sometimes still have these services, but public libraries always have your back, kids.) so when they have a paper transcript and need to send me a copy electronically, it's just terrible photos at bad angles full of thumbs and text-obscuring shadows.
mind bogglingly frequently, i get cell phone photos of computer screens. they don't know how to take a screenshot on a computer. they don't know the function of the Print Screen button on the keyboard. they don't know how to right click a web page, hit "print", and choose "save as PDF" to produce a full and unbroken capture of the entirety of a webpage.
sometimes they'll just copy the text of a transcript and paste it right into the message of an email. that's if they figure out the difference between the body text portion of the email and the subject line, because quite frankly they often don't.
these are people who in most cases have done at least some college work already, but they have absolutely no clue how to utilize the attachment function in an email, and for some reason they don't consider they could google very quickly for instructions or even videos.
i am not taking a shit on gen z/gen alpha here, i'm really not.
what i am is aghast that they've been so massively failed on so many levels. the education system assumed they were "native" to technology and needed to be taught nothing. their parents assumed the same, or assumed the schools would teach them, or don't know how themselves and are too intimidated to figure it out and teach their kids these skills at home.
they spend hours a day on instagram and tiktok and youtube and etc, so they surely know (this is ridiculous to assume!!!) how to draft a formal email and format the text and what part goes where and what all those damn little symbols means, right? SURELY they're already familiar with every file type under the sun and know how to make use of whatever's salient in a pinch, right???
THEY MUST CERTAINLY know, innately, as one knows how to inhale, how to type in business formatting and formal communication style, how to present themselves in a way that gets them taken seriously by formal institutions, how to appear and be competent in basic/standard digital skills. SURELY. Of course. RIGHT!!!!
it's MADDENING, it's insane, and it's frustrating from the receiving end, but even more frustrating knowing they're stumbling blind out there in the digital spaces of grown-up matters, being dismissed, being considered less intelligent, being talked down to, because every adult and system responsible for them just
ASSUMED they should "just know" or "just figure out" these important things no one ever bothered to teach them, or half the time even introduce the concepts of before asking them to do it, on the spot, with high educational or professional stakes.
kids shouldn't have to supplement their own education like this and get sneered and scoffed at if they don't.

Features of Google Advanced Search Operators
Google is an incredible tool for finding information, and using its advanced search operators can help refine and enhance your search experience. These operators allow you to target specific content on the web, making your searches more precise and effective. Here are some key features of Google advanced search operators that can optimize your search results.
1. Search for Exact Phrases
One of the most useful operators is the quotation marks ("). By enclosing a phrase in quotation marks, you instruct Google to search for that exact phrase without any variations. This is particularly helpful when you need to find results that contain a specific phrase or a sequence of words.
Example:
arduino
CopyEdit
"best vegan recipes"
This will return results that only include the exact phrase "best vegan recipes."
2. Exclude Words from Search Results
Sometimes, you may want to exclude certain words from your search results. The minus sign (-) helps you do just that. By placing the minus sign in front of a word, you can eliminate pages that contain that term, making your results more relevant.
Example:
arduino
CopyEdit
"vegan recipes" -chocolate
This search will show results for vegan recipes but exclude any pages that mention chocolate.
3. Search for Specific File Types
If you’re looking for a particular type of file, such as a PDF, PowerPoint, or Excel sheet, the filetype: operator is the solution. This operator allows you to search for specific formats, making it easier to find resources like academic papers, presentations, or reports.
Example:
arduino
CopyEdit
"climate change report" filetype:pdf
This will return only PDF documents related to climate change reports.
4. Search Within a Specific Website or Domain
The site: operator allows you to search within a specific website or domain. This feature is great if you want to find content from a particular source, without sifting through irrelevant results from other websites.
Example:
vbnet
CopyEdit
site:bbc.com "latest technology trends"
This search will return results for technology trends only from the BBC website.
5. Search for Specific Words in the Title
By using the intitle: operator, you can search for pages that contain certain words in the title. This can be useful when you're looking for highly relevant articles or content that focuses on specific topics.
Example:
vbnet
CopyEdit
intitle:"new smartphone releases"
This will return results with the words “new smartphone releases” in the title.
6. Search for Words in the URL
Similar to searching for words in the title, the inurl: operator allows you to search for specific words within the URL. This is helpful when you want to find pages that have keywords directly in their web address.
Example:
makefile
CopyEdit
inurl:bitcoin guide
This will return results where “bitcoin” appears in the URL, often pointing to guides or detailed pages about Bitcoin.
7. Combine Operators for Better Results
The real power of Google advanced search operators comes when you combine them. You can use multiple operators in a single query to filter your results even further. For example, you can combine site:, intitle:, and - to narrow down your search to a specific site, include specific words in the title, and exclude others.
Example:
vbnet
CopyEdit
site:techcrunch.com intitle:"AI" -robotics
This search will return articles about AI from TechCrunch that do not mention robotics.
8. Use Wildcards for Flexibility
The asterisk (*) wildcard is a great tool for searching when you’re not sure about a specific word in a phrase. It acts as a placeholder for any word, allowing you to explore different possibilities in a search.
Example:
css
CopyEdit
"how to * a business"
This search will return results with variations like "how to start a business" or "how to grow a business."
9. Search for Related Websites
The related: operator helps you find websites that are similar to a specific URL. This can be a great way to explore content related to a site you already like, broadening your search horizons.
Example:
makefile
CopyEdit
related:cnn.com
This will show websites related to CNN, such as other news sources or media outlets.
10. Search Within a Specific Time Frame
If you want results from a particular time range, you can use the “Tools” option in Google to filter by time. Though not strictly a search operator, this feature is a great addition to advanced searches, letting you see the most recent content on a topic.
