This time we want to support two projects which are doing urgent and important work:
𝐌𝐔𝐉𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐎𝐑 𝐋𝐀 𝐕𝐈𝐃𝐀 (Women for Life) is a feminist, autonomous and self-organized collective based in Estado Lara, Venezuela since 1992. Its goal is to promote spaces for popular education, of support and self-care among women, thus contributing to building grass-roots organizations where feminist structures, relations and ways of life predominate, rather than capitalist and patriarchal values.
In the last couple of years, the socioeconomic situation in Venezuela deteriorated enormously as a result of the economic and financial blockage of the main world powers, the theft of national assets and internal corruption and bureaucratization. As a result, women spend most of their time taking care of domestic tasks in order to meet basic needs. This makes it more important than ever to reinforce solidarity with those who aim to think of and build collective strategies and alternatives to this reality.

𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐕𝐎𝐒 𝐋𝐆𝐁𝐓𝐈𝐐+ 𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐔𝐆𝐄𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 is a group of LGBTIQ+ refugees and activists in solidarity with LGBTIQ+ refugees in Moria, Lesvos.
More than 10.000 asylum seekers are officially living at the Lesbos island, around 9.000 from them at the Moria hotspot. They cannot leave the island, Lesvos is a prison. The refugees live under catastrophic conditions in a camp surrounded by barbed wired.
Many people live in tents or under the open sky, without privacy and almost no sanitary facilities.
For LGBTIQ* asylum seekers, Moria is especially dangerous. Every day they experience discrimination, psychological, physical and sexual violence from other refugees, security personal and the police.
The solidarity group support LGBTQI* asylum seekers with material needs, lawyer costs, and the group is also doing political work demanding basic rights for LGBTQI* refugees, fair asylum process, separate infrastructures and opening the borders for all asylum seekers!

EXCLUSIVE: Review of ‘Weeping Song/Bells Ring’ by CHURCHGATE.
Wow? Who would have thought the day would come where i...an unimportant reviewer in the depths of tumblrs’ half-arsed pastel, goth and alternative dungeons would have the chance to exclusively preview and review such a spectacular release?! I have tried my hand at reviewing many mainstream albums before, with pretty hit and miss responses; but i assure you - this is one review you definitely need to read through and listen to the end product, because by GOD you need CHURCHGATE in your life, like NOW.
The duo, consisting of Murdo and Jessie, is arguably, one of the best independent queer and alternative/dark synth bands to come out of 2017 so far, and in my opinion, the best. Raining from two very different corners of the country, with a 100 mile journey between them - this is one of the best musical outcomes of a long distance friendship i have seen, in my good decade of observing the DIY and alternative scenes. Mixing earworm guitar and synth leads, with haunting ghostly and scream-like vocals - which seep into your bones and out of your every nerve - shivering your senses and leaving you hungry to press the repeat button, like a hit of the best drug you have encountered; CHURCHGATE are definitely a force to be reckoned with. Don’t sleep on this release, because these guys are going to be big, sooner than you might think! Without any further ado, lets get into the track by track review:
--TRACK BY TRACK REVIEW--
WEEPING SONG: Beginning with sharp, and harsh guitar strikes, with a catchy but off-putting (in the best kind of way) synth structure soon jumping in, pulsating and enrapturing you like a siren of the post-goth era, Weeping Song is the début single everybody wishes they could put together. Reminiscent of some fucked up, euphoric musical smoothie, consisting of Alice Deejay’s ‘Better Off Alone’ and CRIM3S’ ‘BREED’ - with a pinch of Cocteau Twins; CHURCHGATE have clearly redefined the dark electro genre as we know it.
No ounce of emotion is spared as you focus onto each personal and relatable lyric, from “broken bone, forgotten home” to “still holding hands, we are the weeping” - it’s obvious just how much this song hits home, for me at least. I don’t know about anyone else but what captivates me with music is being able to have a sense of relation with the artist who wrote the lyrics, and with such a powerful tone its clear to see how much effort went into not just the complexity of the lyrics, but the instrumental- which in itself has countless layers of instruments, further drawing out emotion.
I don’t quite know how to say it in words, without sounding like a psycho - but music really does sometimes have the ultimate power to make you ‘feel’ sadness but also strength, the strength of ‘keeping-on-keeping-on’ and regardless of what shit life throws at you, carrying on with some façade of happiness, which eventually turns into true overcoming of sadness, and a real sense of happiness after all. Few songs manage to draw it out, but those that do leave a lasting memory on your heart and in your head. CHURCHGATE managed to reach that flag-post in their first track; something many bands can’t achieve til their final years together, or never at all.
My favourite thing about the lyrics is that they are relatable ina sense that, each verse could be taken with a variety of definitions. For example, my stand out lyric is perhaps one of the verses which could most definitely be interpreted into many different scenario’s - “pierce the night, with our light // held you down, without a fight”. For me the line suggests that whomever the song’s point of view is about, has overcame some trouble, and the light is suggestive of the dark times being over, but the struggle was hard, given that whatever held them back was so easy to give in to. With genre’s constantly moving on in terms of musicality and vocal techniques; it is a constant struggle to have your own sense of uniqueness within the community - but this track has no trouble finding its own benchmark within a variety of genre’s - and for that reason alone, is why i find myself so hexed whilst listening to it.
Musically, the song has a few key ‘changes’ in structure - around the half way point, the guitars become more prominent for a while, before becoming engulfed, but not overshadowed by the synths once more. A synth breakdown follows, where more layers gradually gravitate over the main melody until the bridge - where the guitars become highlighted once more. Leaving no stone unturned, the outro within itself, manages to give you one last shiver - refraining the synth melody that kicked in initially after the intro by itself, before submitting itself into a sea of white noise glory. I cannot do anything but recommend this track to anybody - regardless of their strict genre rules or tastes in music, i have all hope and trust that this track will go far. I’m calling it right now! And for that, this track deserves no less than a 10/10.
BELLS RING: Channeling a twisted take on the original dream pop track, originally by Mazzy Star - this cover is sickeningly sweet, in the strangest of ways. With Murdo’s aggressive, almost demonic mumbling of the lyrics, eerily distorted synth accompanies and Jessie channelling 80′s rock with his guitar leads - this is nothing short of a dark synth-wave take on a once serenading track.
Lines such as “Bells ring into the night, Sounds like a mistress on a rainy night” have a more mellow mumble, whereas the chorus; bearing lyrics such as “Nobody wants to know your reason why” resonate a creepier, more mischievous tone. All the while between the glorious guitar, short bursts of clashing synths give a sense of uneasiness, followed by a warm nostalgic feeling once more.
All in all, this cover is a gem amongst many covers of the song a quick YouTube search can find you. And in comparison to other artists who may decide to play it safe when using a cover as a b-side, CHURCHGATE went far, far, FAR from the ‘norm’ partially by choosing such a track that was little known to begin with, and also by conjuring up such a daring, whimsical and unique take on the track - vocals in particular. 9.7/10
*TOTAL RATING: 9.8/10*
Overall, i see big things happening for these guys. They definitely have their heads screwed on, and their ideas mounted together in order to define themselves within the already diverse musical playing field. With a benign exterior, and an interior almost like being hit in the face with a candy-covered machete; i genuinely have nothing bad to say about this release! Now please excuse me whilst i drown in my tears at how emotional i feel after listening on repeat for days, hahah.
Always remember to support the artist! - you can get your very own copy of the single via churchgates’ bandcamp page ❤
**Also, remember to keep an eye on my blog for next week, where i will be uploading a further review of the bands entire Demonstration (I) EP - but until then, please ensure you bask in the delight of these two teaser tracks - not forgetting to check out the bands Facebook or Soundcloud whilst you’re at it!!**

What type of “I love you” are you
I hate you (I love you)
this is said with a sort of disbelief, that you can't believe you love this person, that you could never have imagined they would make you feel such affection and fondness for them. they're a little shit, the most ridiculous person you've ever met, and you would absolutely die for them. you say "i hate you," and they just shoot you that stupid grin of theirs. maybe they throw it back at you. neither of you has to say "i love you," to know that you do, it goes without saying.
Stolen from a random person on my dash aND LMFAO IF THIS ISN’T FUCKING COLWAVE TO A GOD DAMN T WHAT THE HELL

“So, it was you.” & colwave
He’s dreaming again.
Or no - dreaming isn’t the right word.
He hasn’t dreamed in years, in centuries.
It’s awake or asleep, or something in between. When he’s still awake, and he knows that he is because the pain that is always there crushing against his soul remains, but the edges of the world star to blur together ever so slightly.
Maybe it’s the alcohol.
But he sees it there, for a second, a glimmer of something - of someone - that he’s been missing for so long.
Hallucinations.
He knows it’s hallucinations, the small rational part of his brain knows that but he can’t help a ghost of a smile from finding its way to his lips as he tilts his head up to meet the eyes of the ghost before him.
“Thought I felt someone watching me,” he says, better than saying I miss you or I love you or I don’t know how I’m living without you. “So, I guess, it was you.”
Then comes that familiar drawl, “It’s always me, Mick, don’t act so surprised.”
send me a ship from here + a prompt from here, for a drabble

PROMPT: Day 6: Overcast Morning
Fandom: The Flash, theoretical future for tv ‘verse
Rating: Gen
Characters/Pairings: Len Snart, Mick Rory, Mentioned Mark Mardon
Summary: Living with a weather wizard comes with unique challenges. So does waking up next to your grumpy crime boss boyfriend. Poor Mick.
Found on AO3 here: [link]
Len’s used to odd changes in weather happening around him; it’s kinda hard to live with a meta-human with the power to manipulate weather and not get used to the idea that your perfect sunny day might be marred with a freak thunderstorm with no warning at the whims of a bored criminal. On a good day, he even gets through his day with a patch of sunshine protecting him from whatever nature has decided the sky should dump on his head as long as he hasn’t upset Mark. Today is not a good day.
Len rolls over, shoving the lump beside him with a huff and glares at the ceiling, or at least what little he can see of it. It wouldn’t bother him normally, as he’s woken up to worse weather outside the safehouse he has graciously deemed to invite them into, but it’s been getting worse and this has reached a new level of ridiculous. If he has to deal with this every day, he decides, he’s kicking them all out. Well, Lisa can stay, and Cold guesses that the lump in his bed that is their very own pyro can, too.
Mick grumbles and flops over, swatting at Len’s foot nudging him, and Len takes it as a sign he’s awake enough to deal with it instead. “Go tell Mark to knock it off,” Len yanks the blanket off Mick and shoves him again, ignoring the muttered cursing he gets in response.
“You picked him,” Mick huffs, blindly grabbing for the blankets and obviously determined to go back to sleep in Len’s bed. “You deal with it.”
Len rolls his eyes and glares, keeping the blankets out of reach and pretending not to notice when a couple of Mick’s grabs for it could be mistaken for attempts at hugs or cuddles. “Hey, I just wanted more people working with us. I had nothing to do with inviting them to live with us; you and sis came up with that idea all on your own,” Len pushes at Mick again, “‘sides you’re the one with an issue with lower temperatures.”
He gets a pillow in the face for that, but despite the groan and continued muttered cursing Mick rolls out of the bed and to his feet. “What’s he done now--” he trails off as he finally opens his eyes, tilting his head up at the ceiling and staring. “Are those…”
“Yeah,” Len chuckles at Mick’s expression, “apparently we’re now getting weather inside. Go tell Mark to knock it off before we go from slightly overcast to raining and I have to replace all the furniture on his dime.”
That gets a laugh out of Mick, and Len reaches over the bed to pick up the hastily-discarded shirt that had been dropped the night before, tossing it at Mick’s head before laying back down and wrapping himself in the blankets. He doesn’t expect the alarm clock thrown back in retaliation but manages to catch it anyway and glares at Mick with an expression that is much closer to a pout than the stern look he’s trying to give. “Wouldn’t want you to over-sleep,” it’s muffled slightly as Mick pulls the shirt on, “You know how cranky Cold gets when we’re late.”
Cold glares harder and Mick laughs, ducking out of the room before Len can helpfully return the clock. Len hears him head down the hall, and when the gray clouds blocking his view of the ceiling dissipate without any screaming or the sudden smell of smoke he counts it as a win, burying himself back in blankets and letting himself drift back to sleep.
When Lisa cheerfully drops her latest fashion find on his bed and sits herself beside it while chattering loudly, he almost keeps himself from throwing the alarm clock against the wall in frustration.
