what are some coping/trauma related songs you know or like?

i don’t really have specific songs i listen to for that, just a set few that help me out generally!! a big one is truce by tøp, as well as the rest of that album (vessel). another song i like is “limitless”, “this isn’t the end” & “scars” all by colton dixon (fair warning colton is a christian singer and references it in songs p oftenso if that’s a trigger for you at all i don’t recommend listening to him !! i’m not christian but i really do enjoy his music)

Here’s a Story...

I went to Winter Jam last night. Never in my life have I ever attended a huge concert like that before (I am almost 21, don’t judge me) and it was an amazing night! I got to see Thousand Foot Krutch, Tenth Avenue North, Colton Dixon, Andy Mineo, Crowder and Britt Nicole live. But this story isn’t about my awesome night at Winter Jam, it has to do with my ‘witnessing moment’ that I had with a 13 year old girl who suffers from depression so bad, that she injures herself. The two of us are standing outside of the outer ring of the US Bank Arena; she all fired up because a young boy is pissing her off through via text message. I looked at her, told her to lock her phone and talk to me what was going on. She furiously told me that this boy was calling her names and putting her character down. I sighed and began my own personal back story of how I struggle with anxiety and depression after people have hurt me and put me down. I even told her I too wanted to hurt myself like she does. Her eye grew wide she found out I knew out the scars up and down her arms and hands. I looked at her dead in the eyes and said: hurting yourself will not help you feel better, it doesn’t work. I gave her an example of other people that are dear to me that use to hurt themselves that way, and I told her that it won’t help her. It didn’t help me (even though I was close to hurting myself that way) and it didn’t help the people who use to do it. She tried to rebuttal her words to me, but I silenced her by saying this: I do not want to see you dead somewhere because you committed suicide because you hated yourself. I don’t want to see you or any of the other girls in the youth group like that, do you hear me? Ending your life won’t make you or any other person feel better. That’s when I hugged her, and we walked back into the arena to enjoy the rest of Winter Jam. After that she was fine the rest of the evening all because I said those words to her among hundreds of people all while hiding back tears. When you are so willing to win souls in a unsaved youth group, you have to take drastic measures and that’s what I did. So, be very proud of me because it took a lot out of me to do what I did last night.
