Human for a Day - Gemsona Event

On May 21st of this year 2017 from 12am EST to 11:59pm EST, gemsona makers will be asked to post and submit creations of their gemsona(s) disguising themselves as humans for the first time to @gemsonaresources! This event will explore how gemsonas first immersed themselves in humanity and why they were curious to learn about the way humans live on Earth.

How do I participate? Create art, literature, videos, playlists, animation, or use any other medium to show your gemsona(s) figuring out the world of humans!

Where and how do I send in my work(s)?

Two ways: 1) Post your works on Tumblr, use the hashtag #gemsonasashumans within the first five tags on your post and tag me @gemsonaresources in the description or the first five tags so I know where to find your works.

2) If you do not have a Tumblr blog or prefer to submit your works on another website (deviantArt, Twitter, etc), please send me a link to your work and I will post it onto my Tumblr page.

Are early and late submissions accepted? Yes and yes! If you are unable to be online on the 21st, you may send in your work(s) to me early and I will queue them for the date. For late submissions, I will keep checking the #gemsonasashumans tag until May 24th!

Submission Rules: -All creations must be made specifically for the event. -Keep all submissions G or PG. -Canon characters from the show are allowed as long as there is at least ONE gemsona included in your piece -WIPs are allowed -Please avoid having your gemsona change their skin color by painting it a different color. In real life, there are bad (racist) implications when a person changes their skin color to appear as a different race. Having your gemsona wear makeup is fine, but please avoid making them change their skin to look more human. -No cursing/swear words, blood, gore, death, nudity, or sexual content. Think about the audience that Steven Universe is aiming toward while submitting your gemsona. -No abusive/unhealthy and adult x minor relationships. This includes a relationship between a human who is a minor and a gem. -No traced or recolored work of someone else’s art (unless it’s a base); we want your original content! This includes photoshopping another person’s work to fit the theme of the event. -No roleplay threads -Playlists are allowed, but make sure the songs do not have sexual references and curse words/slurs are censored.

Prompt Ideas: -Why is your gemsona trying to dress up as a human? What is their goal? Are they curious about the human lifestyle? Do they have a human friend who convinced them to meet other humans? Are they trying to hide from Homeworld and/or the Crystal Gems? Does your gem want to forget about their past life on Homeworld and live a human lifestyle instead? -What would your gemsona dress themselves with? Would they dress up at all? -Would your gemsona speak to humans? Would they try to avoid conversation? -Would your gemsona try to eat/drink? Try to shop? Try attending school? Try to apply for a job and work? Try to understand human transporation (airplanes, buses, trains, cars, etc.)? -Would your gem try to make friends with humans? Would they want to avoid humans or scare them? -How does your gemsona react when a human sees that they are not actually a human? Does your gemsona keep trying to play up the facade, or do they confess that they are an alien?
