The Higher Intelligence Agency - "W.H.Y." Ambient Dub Volume 2. Earthjuice. 1993 Downtempo
Some beautifully woven and vibrating early 90s acid-dubby downtempo psychedelia from Birmingham, UK's Bobby Bird, aka The Higher Intelligence Agency. Known as a sort of dub-chillout entity, H.I.A.'s first ever appearance was in 1992 on the first installment of Beyond Records' Ambient Dub series. He then appeared again on Vol. 2 in '93, while also putting out his debut album, Colourform, and then in '94 also landed a track on Warp Records' highly popular Artificial Intelligence II comp as well. H.I.A. has very intermittently kept on releasing music to this day, with his latest album, Song of the Machine, having come out in 2022, but on the side, Bird has also played guitar as part of legendary two-tone ska band The Beat in this current decade too.
And this tune, "W.H.Y.," which was exclusive to the second volume of Ambient Dub until 2020, was co-written by Dave Wheels, a DJ from a club in Birmingham called Oscillate, which is where H.I.A. got his start as a live experimental performer in the first place as part of a collective of similar-minded folks. Wheels would also go on to tour with Bird as fixtures of a burgeoning live electronic music scene too.
And Steve Savale, who doesn't appear to have had anything to do with this track itself, was also a contributor to Higher Intelligence Agency back then too, but in '94, he would go on to join a group that'd become much more popular: Asian Dub Foundation.

Friday Night Flicks: Colourform Pulp Packaging with CupCycling™
Friday Night Flicks: Colourform Pulp Packaging with CupCycling™
My apologies for the delay in posting this. I had the video selected, then scheduling it fell off my ‘To Do List’. Many people start their learning process in paper making by recycling paper at home. James Cropper Paper takes that process to a whole new level. Perhaps you could try moulding some paper pulp this weekend. Try cutting apart an egg carton and using the cups —in pairs— as moulds.…

The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #8
The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries #8 DC Comics 2021 Written by Ivan Cohen Illustrated by Dario Brizuela Coloured by Franco Riesco Lettered by Saida Temofonte The world’s greatest detectives-Batman and Mystery, Inc.-face a mysterious scheme concocted by Harley Quinn and the Joker! A mysterious zillionaire has taken over Gotham’s waterfront. But what do Batman’s wildest foes and a supercharged ghost have to do with it? This issue just goes to show why I think this is one of the best books DC has right now. It’s got that tongue-in-cheek humour for adults and the right blend of the animated cartoons that are perfect for kids. These folks have found a way to sneak it all in right under everyone’s noses and the multiple mentions that the kids and Batman have been working together a lot is absolutely phenomenal. This series is dedicated to them teaming up and yeah I’m loving every moment of it but I wouldn’t mind seeing their Team-Up book coming back and having them explore more of the DCU, especially on planets not their own just saying. This is so well done however that I’m going to miss this when it’s over. It has been a real joy seeing the more lighthearted Batman teaming up with the kids because it just brings us back to a more innocent time. I’m a huge fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a magnificent job in continuing to bring us these always evolving personalities. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages revealing the story the more fun we seem to be having. I like how we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow, evolve and strengthen. I also like how these layers open up new avenues to be explored, like Daphne being the one to figure out the anagram that was a nice change of pace we don’t normally see. What all this does is add some great depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward are impeccably rendered. The interiors here are absolutely bloody delightful. It does feel like an animated series so maybe this could be a straight to dvd, okay Blu-Rays or whatnot nowadays, series or something because this is what we need in this crazy world right now. The way that we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance and expand the moments as well as how the work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story are marvellously rendered. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angels and perspective in the panels show such a remarkable eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows a wonderful understanding of how colour works. The gradation and such in the backgrounds versus the solid characters is exceptionally well done almost like colourforms, a favourite of mine when I was a kid. This really is one of the best books to be reading right now. Not only is it a near perfect all-ages book but it’s also that book that brings fun back to comics. It may be lighthearted fare but it does have some serious business to it that makes it so incredibly easy to read. This has some exceptional writing, characterisation and interiors there’s nothing here NOT to love.

Higher Intelligence Agency - Colourform (1993)
The lower tempo experimental side of the 90s. But, wasn't everything experimental back then? There is something very distinctive about the sound of the 90s.
And that's exactly what I needed on this super slow Wednesday.

Colour Formation - The Script (Indie Pop)

How to learn Dance Online for free
Yes, you can learn to dance online for free. From party moves and TikTok dance trends to classic ballroom moves, try these free websites for beginner and experienced dancers.
Online classes obviously won't be as good as those from a professional dance studio. But they are still effective. Through a series of steps (no pun intended), anyone can learn to dance online for free. And if you like the basics, many of those on this list offer paid packages for a professional online live dance class.
Social media loves to dance. Players love to dance. The internet loves to dance. And Bao from Learn How to Dance is here to teach you how to perform the latest viral and trending dances in simple, free YouTube videos.
You can check out the most popular videos, but Bao also split the channel into some useful playlists. There is a Fortnite playlist for all the dances in the popular game. Update the TikTok playlist more frequently so you can shake up those moves on your social media. And there are tutorials for popular dance moves, hip-hop passes, and other assorted items.
The most common compliment subscribers give Bao the time he devotes to breaking down the steps. Beginners will find it easy to learn the moves from him due to how he demonstrates all body angles for each step and suggests easier and more difficult versions.
Singapore dance class
Plus, like most active YouTubers, he reads comments regularly. So if you want to learn a passage that hasn't highlighted yet, write a request and you may soon get a tutorial along with a message.
Tip tap is all about rhythm. It takes practice, but is much more accessible than others for beginners and those who consider themselves to have two left feet. Tap dancer Kathie Walling has rounded up some of the essentials you'll need in one place in Tap Dancing Resources.
Start with the list of classes of tap dancing for all levels. Here you will find links to several free online tutorials. Walling provides YouTube links to United Taps classes, as well as Shelby Kauffman's excellent series where he breaks off each step. In fact, you can also know all the steps in AZ of the tap steps .
These online videos are the first stop on your tip tap journey. You will also need the right music to touch, find surfaces and shoes that can work, heats and so on. Tap Dancing Resources has it all, along with connections with instructors and schools around the world for you to tap into the next step.
Ballroom Dancers looks and feels a little old, as do the videos in it. But when it comes to dance classics, it doesn't really need to spice it up. When the content is top notch, the design doesn't matter.
The website teaches all the main steps involved in ballroom and latin dances such as waltz, salsa, samba, foxtrot, rumba, cha cha, etc. Each dance and step offers a video and a writing.
The written part dives into the history of the moves, elaborates the part of the man and the part of the woman, and offers tips and tricks on how to perform the steps gracefully. As useful as the videos, don't forget to read the text.
You will need to register to access many videos, including weekly variations. Registered users also get the printable schedule if you follow a routine to learn to dance. You can also view Ballroom Dancers YouTube videos , where you can easily download the videos for offline viewing .
Do you feel like you have no rhythm and two left feet? Ballerina Nathan Short simplifies the idea of finding rhythms and grooves for them by making it a visual learning experience. He calls it Colourform and is meant for absolute beginners to learn to dance.
Here's how it works. Short divides the sound into six frequencies, from low to high. Then assign them six colors of the spectrum. It also divides the human body into six sections: feet, knees, hips, torso, arms and hands.
Each frequency, color and part of the body forms a group, from lowest to highest. It is really easy to follow in the video. This simple visualization will help you find the beat and beat of any song and dance appropriately.
If you're sure of the basics of dance, try the free 10-minute dance masterclass classes on YouTube . They are shot beautifully while teaching a group of students some moves. You can see the variations people make and how a non-perfect dancer performs the same move as Short, which can be a confidence booster if you're struggling. Plus, they also serve as free live workout classes at home to get fit.
