this year was a pretty quiet fandom year for me, ngl. between dnp being more quiet than usual and my life getting pretty hectic between uni, working the summer, and my health issues I just haven’t had the time or energy to create works as much as I used to. but!! I did still manage to post/update 11 fics (idk how many words because ao3 says 134 792 but uhhh that includes all of flares so *shrug*) and a few edits! and I’m mostly proud of what I did put out this year. and I immensely appreciate the friends and community this fandom has continued to offer me 💛

1. flares

okay so I didn’t technically post this in 2019, but I have updated it and it remains my baby so! here it is! (you all know it was coming lets be real.) this story, despite the slow updates, is always such a joy to write. emotionally draining for sure, but there’s something so ... cathartic about being able to write the world as I experience it for once. I’m so proud of how far this story has come and where I intend to bring it in 2020, and am soooo beyond grateful for everyone who has stuck with it since 2018. also, the comments from fellow chronically ill people talking about how they relate make my day/week/month/year and I’m eternally grateful!

2. the scariest part (is letting go)

okay this fest fic got veryyy out of hand but I’m super happy with how it turned out? exploring the dynamics of internalized homophobia while in a queer relationship was just ... very interesting to write. and forced me to think about my own relationship to my sexuality a lot. and gave me a new perspective on the last decade (!!!) of dnp.

3. family (found)

this was my first time writing something so heavily platonic-relationship centric and I just ... adored it? there’s so much nuance in non-romantic relationships and writing about family dynamics, especially when it’s so sweet and developed over the course of so long, and writing it was just :’) also i fully expected it to flop but it’s one of my best performing fics this year so! thank you!

4. this random edit idk it doesn’t have a title

I edited very very little this year, but right after dan came out I had so much inspiration to play with bright colours and new, authentic dan. the first panel of this edit in particular was really experimental for me and I’m so proud of how it came out. also 12/10 to that song by alex g. I really want to go back to it more in 2020 (even though the fact that I quit again like 2 weeks after he came out may appear to contradict that).

5. simple kind of love

there’s nothing super special about this fic in terms of writing, tbh, but it was my first attempt at writing femslash and I love it for that alone. it still makes me soft to think about and not just because I high key had a crush on my RA in first year and mayyy not be totally over it

honourable mention: having the courage to exist project

doing this as an honourable mention because I’m not very proud of the editing/graphic itself but I’m really proud of the concept and am very glad it was something I could put together for everyone who chose to participate 💛

Alright alright alright, it has been awhile since the last rec post, lemme see what I’ve finished/started watching since then:

Suddenly This Summer 忽而今夏 - modern cdrama; 30 eps; completed; fully subbed - high school coming of age drama - OKAY. I need to yell about this show, so. THIS IS HONESTLY THE CUTEST THING hoooooooo boy, ngl I started watching this for Bai Yu, but I fell in love with Bu Guan Jin while watching this. This is your classical high school romance, but…more realistic? That’s the word that comes to mind for me anyway. Their romance is so sweet and soft and istg Bai Yu plays teenage Zhang Yuan so well??? I was screaming the entire time I LOVE HIM??? The chemistry between the leads is great, and both their actings are A+++ in this. I cried like. Many times watching this but NO REGRETS. 11/10 would rec. I’M SERIOUS GO AND WATCH THIS AND COME AND YELL ABOUT IT TO ME.

Accidentally in Love 惹上冷殿下 - modern cdrama; 30 eps; completed; fully subbed; available on netflix - college romcom - Think fun tropes like: mistaken identity, double identity, enemies to friends to lovers, pining. Throw it all together and y’all expect me not to enjoy this? IN WHAT WORLD. Honestly, this is so easy to watch? Like the day I found it, I binged like 9 or 10 episodes in one sitting, and basically finished the show in two days. It’s light and fluffy and so funny? The characters are adorable, and I love the aesthetics in this show? It’s colourful and so fun to watch. In line with most cdramas, there are…….a couple of p toxic characters/subplots (tw for suicide in the later eps - hmu if you want the exact ep and i’ll find it), but for the most part, it’s a good show.

Across The Ocean to See You 漂洋过海来看你 - modern cdrama; 26 eps (cut) / 44 eps; completed; fully subbed (at least the cut version is i think) - workplace romance - I…………watched this straight after watching that Zhu Yawen episode of 声临奇境 (A REC!! THE SHOW IS A GOOD!!!) and fell in love with his voice. Wasn’t expecting too much out of the show, but. It surprised me??? Su Mang is a good, strong female character, and Zheng Chu is truly such a Good Person. I did a lot of skipping through episodes to watch only their parts, because there was a love-triangle side arc that I just couldn’t stand, but the bits with the leads were all so fun to watch! I love how they took their time to get together, the progression of their relationship was steady and didn’t like, just come out of nowhere?

Original Sin 原生之罪 - modern cdrama; 24 eps; still airing; not picked up for subs yet (i think? correct me if i’m wrong!) - police procedural - I already made a post about this, and I stand by what I said. I’m up to ep 12 already, and the third case (ep 9-12) is my favourite so far!! The acting is Great in this, and I love love love Zhai Tianlin��s character Chi Zheng.

Visible Lie 罪案心理小组X - modern cdrama; 18 eps; still airing; not picked up for subs yet - police procedural + criminal psychology - I started this because I was bored, and thought this show could fill the SCI gap in my heart. And okay, while I wouldn’t necessarily say this is a Must Watch, it’s pretty entertaining if you need something in the background as you do chores or workout? I almost gave up on it, but then I accidentally got invested in the Team Dynamics. It does take a bit of effort getting through the first couple of eps, I think? The characters are individually really interesting and I found the cases to be quite fun to watch as well. I do enjoy watching Zhang Chao’s take on playing the egomaniac criminal psychologist.

1. What is your hobby?

Well mostly YouTube and social media, so technically this is my hobby XD.

2. What is your special skill?

I guess audio editing?? Atm I’m making a Nogizaka46 karaoke but I had to shorten it first so I guess that’s a skill? XD.

3. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths: I don’t like complimenting myself omg I guess I don’t let things get to me?? Like ‘nasty comments with Zakuro’ that started on my first hate comment and we all know how I just laughed at that XD.

Weaknesses: I have SERIOUS anger issues. Like, when I say I have impulsive anger people think I’m just playing it up, no honestly I am known to throw things, break things, slam things, do not let me hold anything expensive when I’m frustrated cos it will break. I get it from my Dad but I legit think I’m worse than him XD. Oh also fyi I’ve done this before if I’m being harsh to you about seemingly nothing PLEASE TELL ME cos I don’t know I’m doing it oops.

4. What is your favoUrite coloUr?

Turquoise, teal, anything in the bluey-greeny spectrum really and black. Also red (anger YEET).

PENGUINS THEY’RE SO FUCKING ADORABLE I LOVE THEM.

I’m unhealthy as fuck, chocolate cake XD.

I would be typical and say my Myu merch, but it’s my Yoshi cuddly I got from Camelot Theme Park about 10 years ago. I truly am a Baby Spice at heart XD.

I do boss ass scrambled eggs. And I’m also great at roast potatoes, I can get them crispy but not hard but soft on the inside. I roast them in a small cake tin it works AMAZINGLY.

NOGIMYU 2019 VISUALS. And a girlfriend XD. It doesn’t look good for me that I put that second does it?

Omg it’d be so cool to do a cover of all the Make Up Kumikyoku songs with my NogiMyu friends XD.

20. What do you love about Sera Myu nowadays?

After 2017 I really like how they’re trying different things rather than sticking to conventional normal cast musicals. Like NogiMyu is so experimental and has a Nogi cast, the Super Live is a dance show, I hope Kaguya-hime no Koibito will be similar to this pattern XD.

21. Which cast member catches your attention the most at the moment?

Well it’s ALWAYS Nao, but y’all know how much I’m loving Hinachima atm.

NAOOOOOOOOO or Hinachima XD.

It was my first year of high school/secondary school. And I was rocking in one of the chairs, I fell back and as I fell, I turned off the front classroom lights which in a way created a spotlight for me when I landed on the ground with a big bang. I was so freaking embarrassed, but my friends found it hilarious.

I don’t necessarily keep a journal or anything. But on my phone I like to go into my notes and write poems and stuff. Nothing too fancy or post worthy though.

I love light coloured eyes tbh. Seeing as mine are brown. I adore blue and green. But blue is my 100% favorite.

My red backpack I got like almost five years ago. It’s my favorite and I had it through high school and I still use it now when I go sleep at a friend’s house. lol

Not really. I prefer the night time more.

I personally just love to listen to music, play video games, or just talk on the phone with people that mean something to me.

Uhhh, I remember one time we got super drunk at a friends house. We were playing fuck the dealer. Where like you had to guess the card on hand. You had to tries and if you didn’t get it, you had to take the number of that card, in shots. We were so gone, and then after that we just played music, ate taco bell and chilled. (My 3 A.M. stories are usually just drinking or drug related so. Lol)

Danishes. Cheese or cherry or even blueberry. Mmmmm.

I had a plush dog that I named Clark and I gave him away to my friend recently because he was moving away from me.

My gold rose ring that I always wear on my right ring finger. My dad got it for my birthday last year. And it just means a lot to me.

My friend Cydnie like two months ago. We traveled to this quiet spot near the water where we could see the big bridge of the city and see all the lights of the bridge reflecting on the water, and the stars were so bright, even with the light pollution.

Right now tbh. I honestly love my life and everything/everyone that is in it. (:

I always loved Candy Land for whatever reason. It’s the simplest game and a fast playing game. But I guess that’s why I love it. The simplest things make me happy.

The eyes that I’m imagining are the deepest blue I have seen. It’s like staring into the ocean and seeing the waves rushing around. There’s a storm in those eyes. And just seeing the waters calm, is like the sun comes out and the blue becomes bright and looks like the sun glistening on the waters of Bora Bora.

I was pretty chill at school. I didn’t really do homework though and I skipped class a lot. Which I really regret now, but when I go back I’m planning on being completely focused and working towards my goal.

HAIR: deep black and cut short, the sides and back of his head shaved into an undercut. one long patch is left at the front, a forelock that hangs down over his forehead, reaching down just shy of his eyes. while this forelock used to be the same black as the rest of his hair, it’s now white, the colour lost under the severe stress he faced in Galra captivity. EYES : a dark grey in colour, sometimes looking from a distance to be a deep brown or black. long eyelashes. FACE : strong, sharp jawline, high cheekbones, long and straight nose, thick eyebrows. LIPS : average, perhaps leaning on the thin side -- often quite dry or cracked. COMPLEXION : pale, but in a sickly, unnaturally caused kind of way, caused by complete lack of sunlight and possibly other events from his time in captivity. eyes often have dark circles beneath them. PHYSICAL.

HAIR: deep black and cut short, the sides and back of his head shaved into an undercut. one long patch is left at the front, a forelock that hangs down over his forehead, reaching down just shy of his eyes. while this forelock used to be the same black as the rest of his hair, it’s now white, the colour lost under the severe stress he faced in Galra captivity. EYES : a dark grey in colour, sometimes looking from a distance to be a deep brown or black. long eyelashes. FACE : strong, sharp jawline, high cheekbones, long and straight nose, thick eyebrows. LIPS : average, perhaps leaning on the thin side – often quite dry or cracked. COMPLEXION : pale, but in a sickly, unnaturally caused kind of way, caused by complete lack of sunlight and possibly other events from his time in captivity. eyes often have dark circles beneath them. 1. What do you typically have for breakfast? Bread or cereal

2. Do you like scary movies? Only if I’m watching them with friends.

3. Whats your favourite Milkshake flavour? Vanilla/oreo or something like that. Actually, strawberry and mango is really good.

4. Have you ever been in a newspaper? My school was one time, but not me personally.

5. How long can you balance on one foot? Pretty long. I don’t know, but pretty long.

19. What did you want to be when you grew up? I had to think about this recently. I always wanted to be a vet when i grew up. But it’s hella competitive. Also my colorblindness (blue-green) really screws things up sometimes. So I decided to abandon the dream and do Physical Therapy lol.

20. If you could change anything about yourself what would it be? A lot of things actually. But maybe having ADHD? But I also really want to not be colorblind.

21. Whats the longest you've ever grown your hair? The longest was to lower half of my back.

23. Would you rather trade some intelligence for looks or looks for intelligence? I’m very average looking, which is subjective. But I think I’m okay. I’d want more intelligence.
