Collinsium ciliosum
Collinsium was a genus of luolishaniid from the Early to Middle Cambrian. Its type and only species is C. ciliosum. Its known specimens were found in the Hongjingshao Formation in China.
Collinsium honors Desmond Collins, an invertebrate paleontologist who has contributed significantly to the field, including figuring out Anomalocaris's real appearance. The species name, ciliosum, means "hairy" in Latin.
There are several known specimens of Collinsium, which are all in great condition and preserve many soft tissues and sensory hairs. The animal reached around 85mm in length. Its body has 15 sets of biomineralized sclerites, which are composed of spines of various lengths that increase in size towards the center of the body. Besides the first set, each row is comprised of five spines. It has six long appendages near the head that each have roughly 30 bristle-like spines. The rest of the limbs are shorter and spineless, instead ending with a small hooked claw. The front section of the body is covered densely in hairs which become much sparser after the sixth appendage pair.
Collinsium is unique among lobopodians, as most are known to have sclerite sets comprised of only one pair of spines or plates. It also would have been subject to more to visual predation than its relatives given its extravagant armor. It was recovered as a member of Luolishaniidae, a clade of superarmored lobopodians, due to its similarity to Luolishania and Collinsovermis.

Honestly there's so many invertebrates in swsh I love it!! But if the game is good enough story wise I'm going to grab the other version and finally do a bug monotype run. My tentative team is: Orbeetle, Vikavolt (if it evolves reasonably), Butterfree (for its Gigantamax), Frosmoth (since I'll use Centiskorch in my first game), Araquanid, Drapion (since Skorupi counts), too bad Falinks is a fighting type. I seriously can't wait! I was so bummed for these games at first but now I'm ecstatic!!!
I was so disappointed when I saw Falinks was a bunch of little guys standing together. I thought it might be a millipede, a caterpillar, or even some kind of lobopod. If it was a pun of Collinsium and the Roman Colliseum, then I would have actually shit myself because it would have been like a preevolution for this fakemon I’ve had in development hell for months. That would have been too perfect.
A bunch of moves and abilities and dex entries are being leaked now and I’m feeling Toxtricity more than I was before.

I know I keep talking about the same fakemon ideas over and over, but maybe I’ll try knocking out something on my weekend.
Scaraven, the bug/dark atlas beetle
Gremtrail, the poison/flying plane
UFOps the steel/psychic triops
Turricate the water tunicate
Bugbear the bug/poison velvet ant
Necrophagus the bug/ghost burying beetle
Collinseum the rock/fighting Collinsium
Burstank the bug/poison bombardier beetle (originally bug/steel but I have a new concept for it that flows a lot more naturally)
I’m also trying to come up with a line of bees based around the ways they build their nests, like a building/construction theme. But that could easily be one of those random ideas I get that never get off the ground. I also have an idea that’s great in general, but is a blatant ripoff of Yo-Kai Watch’s Baiking so that one’s slightly iffy. And then there’s the one that’s based on Jason Vorhees that I’m saving for Halloween season. Likewise with revamping my mothman-vampire line.
Thoughts?

Okay, so the xenomorph line is happening. I got a whole laundry list of maybes, but hard solid ideas are:
Scaraven, the branch evo of my scarab beetle (revamp)
Dermunch and Necrophagus, a carpet beetle and burying beetle (revamp)
Bugbear, a velvet ant
Dandeetle, a spanish fly
Turricate and...its evolution I don’t have a snappy name for yet, a tunicate gun and salp/phronima turret (kind of a revamp)
Collinseum, a collinsium that I think would be a good fossil with a preevo based on another lobopod
redesign of Aviculor because I said so. I have...ideas.
Gremtrail, a plane monster

I had a major breakthrough with Scaroyal so that’s actually going to be in the near future. I’ll take this opportunity to detail what’s coming up
Scaroyal and Scaraven the branched evolutions of Scaround, a new take on the rhinoceros vs stag” dichotomy
Bugbear the velvet ant
Dermunch and Necrophagus, revamps of a carpet beetle -> burying beetle line.
Vadien, Xenovade, and Exterrestar the xenomorphs which I’m redesigning to have hints of parasitoid wasps. Probably an Ichneumon like Megarhyssa spp for brand recognition
Turricate and its unnamed evolution, based on a sea squirt/mounted turret and a salp/Phronima/spaceship/alien. This is a fusion of two older, weaker concepts
Collinseum the Collinsium. I have a rough idea of this one’s design
Belfry, Strigori, and Demontor, revamps of an older line based on mothman and vampires. I wanted to remake Demontor for a while since its design is uninspired (like most of my older work)
I want to give a minor tune-up to Liviscous the hagfish that’s part of my Children of Ana series, since the look of its tea kettle/neti pot never sat right with me
Denkipede the house centipede’s sprite isn’t something I’m happy with, but I’m not sure if I can really improve it due to how thin its appendages are. I can try though
I’m not sure what I’m doing with Erratick the tick yet, but I’m doing something.
In a similar vein as above, the general concept of a fungus zombie
Should Flitch the flea evolve? Another concept to consider
A Megachile pluto would be awesome, but I don’t want to do another half-baked idea since that’s why I’ve been doing almost nothing but revamps/redesigns for so long

It took literally all day, but I made Panseidon. All of the headway up to this point was just the rough lineart of the innertube with a lump signifying the torso.
Things I would like to get done:
revamp of Belfry/Strigori/Demontor, mothmen vampires
Baiking the Baikinman ripoff
Boggeyman the Jason Vorhees ripoff
Scaraven the atlas beetle
UFOps the triops
Turricate/Ampheical (name under work) the salp and Phronima
Bugbear the velvet ant
Necrophagus the burying beetle
Burstank the bombardier beetle
Collinseum the Collinsium

Getting my mind organized here:
Scaroyal the rainbow stag beetle and Scaraven the atlas beetle (revamp)
Dermunch and Necrophagus the carpet beetle and burying beetle (revamp)
Collinseum the Collinsium
Belfry, Strigori, and Demontor the mothman/vampires (revamp)
I want to make a fungus zombie named Funghoul but that’s not something to expect in the foreseeable future until I have an actual concrete idea because I’ve already seen the perfect take on the concept
Bugbear the velvet ant
I’ve been mulling over a Megachile pluto but you know, I’m kind of worried about ripping off Grankuwagamon, so that’s in the “maybe” pile
Devaliant the Tasmanian devil is still a strong concept, even though it’s way too late to cash in on Devilman Crybaby hype at this point
Looking at my files, I never got around to making an evolved form for Ouchin the sea urchin, so that’s a possibility too

Suggestion of mystery lobopod: Collinsium ciliosum?
I think that’s it!!! I can’t find the exact image I was remembering, but this is almost definitely the animal. Thank you!!!

For Astronotilus, why not Argstronaut? 11 letters, and references the argonaut.
It flows better in my opinion. I really genuinely wanted to use that name as soon as I thought of it. Working “not” into there also fits how it’s based on a paper nautilus rather than a true nautilus. Even though etymologically speaking the nautilus was named after the paper nautilus.
Since we’re talking about names, I was thinking of calling the upcoming Collinsium “Colindworm” after the lindworm but I’m not certain it’ll be a dragon type yet. I’m favoring towards rock/dragon but the design I have in my head could work as a rock/steel or even possibly a rock/fairy. Also, the name might have sounded better in my head anyway.

I got a lot of work done on my next fakemon WIP
It occurred to me that despite putting thought into a fake based on Collinsium, I don’t even have a typing for it. Pure rock would be kind of not doing the concept justice.
