How can I prevent cavities?

Dental cavities or caries, are tiny holes in the hard surface of the teeth. They are caused by bacteria on the surface of teeth creating acid out of sugar. The most common culprit is a BACTERIUM known as STREPTOCOCCUS MUTANS.

Here are 8 things you can do to prevent tooth decay:

Always spend two to three minutes brushing your teeth. It takes that long to get rid of the bacteria that destroy tooth enamel. Do not brush  too hard .It takes very little pressure to remove bacteria and plaque. try to minimize the times during the day when sweet items are eaten and brush your teeth afterwards. How can I get my kids to brush their teeth?

There are two main categories of tooth discoloration: Extrinsic and Intrinsic stains.

EXTRINSIC STAINS

With extrinsic stain it’s likely that the stains are only affecting the tooth enamel, or the surface of the tooth.
